It's pretty obvious that ND is capable of handling a dominant offense, as they did against the Heels. That doesn't necessarily mean they'll do the same to Bama, but they are certainly capable of holding their own against some great skill talent with the right gameplan in place.
Alabama has put up gaudy numbers, but they really haven't played a decent defense since Georgia, and that was with Waddle in the game. Also in that game, Georgia was holding Alabama's offense mostly in check in the first half, but due to the complete lack of a passing game, Georgia couldn't hold them forever and eventually their defense got worn down and they gave up more and more big plays.
ND has the hosses up front on both sides to not let things get away from them.
Ultimately, it'll take a monumental effort to beat Clemson, much less Alabama, but this team has shown it's capable of such an effort on both ends.
