They always suck in Oakland.

Historically, correct. Plus Oakland is a pretty good team as it is and Chicago had Nova/Covey/Lopez as the starters.

Lopez looked good. If they get more of that for the next 2.5 months they'll be good.

Luis Robert needs to be up he has nothing else to prove

There is absolutely zero rush for this. Roster expansion is in September and we all know how teams are managing service clocks. They brought up Kopech early and we saw how that went. They signed Eloy long term rather than send him down. Would not be surprised to see them do this with Robert too.

Giolito's velocity seems to have taken a dip. It's normal and nothing to be alarmed about. He'll bounce back. Right now, however, it's a real thing.

Looking forward to seeing what Mr. Hahn does in the next couple of weeks.

That was noticeable from start of season until about August last year.. He was down 2-3 MPH and he couldn't get control.. Lead to a shelling. He also got pegged last night and wheels came off a little bit right after that.

Outscored 37-7 since break so far. 0-5 record in those games. 31 of their 37 hits have been singles. 21 extra base hits allowed.

Anyone that considered this team as "buyers" should now be firmly in the other lane.

Abreu, Garcia, Colome and Bummer should all be on the table in the next two weeks. They need young controllable arms in their system. There is no guarantee any of these Tommy John guys are coming back to be themselves and there is no guarantee Cole will come this winter to them as a Free Agent.

May want to consider field staff changes here too, though I know that's not how this Chairman Reinsdorf likes to operate.

Could not agree more with this. Leury is at the peak his value probably will ever be. Colome should bring back a prospect or two. I would be willing to wager that if the Sox trade Abreu it would be with the intent and discussion he will be getting resigned. We can't guarantee our young arms, or that we are going to get Cole. Need to keep that stock pile fresh of arms. 2 years ago it looked like we had 2 full rotations in the minors.. Now we are struggling to have 1, with all these injuries.

Trade Abreu for a good arm and then resign him in the offseason

I would make that deal a very short one. You have a slew of OF in the system coming up and prized hitter that just got injured for a second time last night in LF who should be a DH.

Then you have Vaughn and Sheets at first base soon to come up in the next few years.

I get his talisman value as a mentor to these Cuban lads, but I wouldn't make this a priority in the off season if I was Rick Hahn.

Unless Jerry tells him to.

The Red Sox have some nice prospects in their system still, and Dealer Dave could use Colome right now. Or Bummer.

They did the Sale deal, as we all know.

Was a brutal night all around. Against the Royals no less. Looks like that All Star Break didn't get them relaxed, or relaxed them too much. Hope Eloy is ok, and is DH rest of the season, with some spells in the Outfield.

There is no way Luis Robert is going to be called up to a 42-49 Sox team on a road trip in July, BTW.

I'm with both of you. Dodgers and Rays are both looking for help in the pen, and I'm sure the Rays could use Abreu. Rays have a handful of highly ranked pitching prospects and I believe the Dodgers have one. Hopefully someone is willing to make a deal.

Wonder if Mr. Hahn could find any takers for Nova and Castillo? THAT would be something.

Anyone of value needs to go in the next two weeks. Then you have to hope they can convince Mr. Reinsdorf to spend money on starters this winter.

Knowing this Chairman, there is no way Luis Robert is coming up if it means maxing out his service and contract.

Nova, Castillo would make my day if they are out of Sox uniforms. Take Covey while your at it too. Goins nice debut for the Southsiders.

Literally just got back from Zipp's Sports Grill where I watched this game. Same exact stool. Same exact place I watched Humber's perfecto 3 years later on my B-Day.

Was just trying to figure out if there is a single play that was (for me) as great as D Wise's catch? Hester's KO TD to start the Super Bowl, Keith Smart's jumper vs Syracuse and a handful of plays from the Sox run through the ALCS/WS is all I can come up with.

Red Sox and Rays eyeballing Abreu.

Dealer Dave has always liked him. Wouldn't be surprised if Abreu goes to Boston as a rental.

White Sox won't get much back in return, but they can get SOMETHING. A young controlled arm is fine.

No. 470 (16th round): DJ Gladney, 3B, Illiana Christian HS

He was committed to Eastern Kentucky.

A few things jump out here on this stat line.

Good on this kid.. That OPS...

Check out some of the numbers btw of our international players in the DSL, some bombers down there.

7/23/09, will never forget that. Was at that opening day too.. Those videos are great.

Ivan Nova, thank you finally for resting the pen and looking like a 25 year old Nova. Brewers come knocking for limited return?

Moncada - on fire.

Saw Gladney play twice this month. Went to see Vaughn play earlier this month here vs the Giants. Vaughn had 3 hits / 3-4 RBI's and Gladney had 4 hits. We were joking that he's not to be trusted... Kid from Lansing that doesn't go to TF South???

The other game we saw him was vs the Padres. Had to go see CJ Abrams. Abrams been the best player in the League. He's batting something like .450.

The Cuban kid Bryan Ramos has had a good summer last I saw but he didn't play either game I went to.

Got tickets for Sox/Cubs on Thursday and Sox/A's next weekend. Hopefully it's under 110 by game time.

What in the holy eff is going on with this team.

I had no delusions of this team vying for a playoff spot, but their play since the All-Star break has been beyond pathetic.

Even Giolito has struggled and got shelled last night. Yuck.

They should go on a 20 game slide and grab my boy Torkbomb... although he's the same exact player as Vaughn so get Garrett Mitchell from UCLA.

Man was it a great year here in PAC-10 baseball, the talent that ran through Muni this year was unbelievable.
