Giolito on the mound tonight vs the Yankees for a chance to get to .500 in mid June.
Must see TV.
Friday night was awesome. Then the next two games were puke.
What has happened to his Lopez kid? Can anyone tell me why this Don Cooper guy has lasted this long through so many managers? Giolito had an offseason regimen that was all his own. Lopez looks totally broken. Where is the pitching coach?
Their starting rotation is a AAAA pile of dung outside of Giolito. Then they let the Indians get Jordan Stephens off of waivers yesterday too. They couldn't have given him a chance and thrown him in there? Could it be any worse than what they've seen so far?
They burned themselves with bringing up Kopech. When fans get bent about service time, Kopech is a great example of why teams do this. Cease's last couple of outings have been tough. Have to assume we will be seeing him up soon.
Why does this Renteria guy like bunting so much?
Zack Collins is coming up. Should be interesting considering his OBP and K rate in the minors this season. 2016 draft pick is up three years later. Looks good.
There is progress here, but this team isn't ready to do anything this season. If they get any offers for Colome and Herrera, they'll have some tough choices to make. I personally don't trust relievers and don't rely on them being consistent. Will those guys be as good or better in a year when you're good and ready?
Exactly.. Why keep running guys that have bounced around team to team - Despaigne, Banuelos (should be long relief). Give these guys in the minors that have been with the team forever a shot let them try to get a solid few starts, if not ship them out. I am over the Covey experiment too. I 100% agree with you on Coop.. Its time to see him go. You can credit Gio for his regiment, but a little credit to McCann too for telling him how he was perceived when he played against him, built up some confidence and game speed. Give the guy a 2 year extension for $8 mil total..
Collins will be interesting to watch hope the guy catches fire.. Anyone over Wellington and Yonder please. Both of those guys should be DFA. Along with the Collins move, we will see Cease soon too. Collins catches Cease. Let them start taking their MLB lumps now.
I'd ditch Herrera if someone comes in and makes an offer. Colome i believe has one more year of arbitration. We need major league ready arms. Gerrit Cole our check book is open for you next year. Oh, and i bet Jon Jay is up very soon too, to spell right field. Please have a hot one month and get traded. Sincerely every Sox fan.
2/3's of my friends hate me today.
Wouldn't have it any other way.
Eloy is on an absolute terror in June. In last 15 games he's hitting
.321/.390/.717 1.107!!!! 6 Homers and 14 RBI's.
This team with a replacement level rotation would be in the thick of it.
This.. Do Sox stay the course for this year and hit the FA market hard on Cole, MadBum next year? Hoping that Kopech, Dunning, Rodon are healthy by MidSeason to make a run?
If they sign no new starters, or make no trades i think you are looking at opening day starting rotation of Gio, Cease, Kopech, Dunning, Lopez, by June/July Rodon spells one of them.
I'd pass on Baumgarner. Cole is the obvious guy to go after in free agency. Maybe a creative trade to get a young guy they can control. Then see who is healthy and ready from the farm.
Their pitching coach doesn't impress me. Lopez looks lost and Giolito did his offseason on his own and is getting help from McCann. Not sure what the guy does and why he has survived so many managers. I know Mr. Reinsdorf is blindly loyal when it comes to his White Sox and Bulls, but come on.
That blind loyalty is finally going to catch up with him and the bulls.. They are losing season ticket holders left and right. I have many friends who have left and won't go back until Gar/Pax is gone.. I am one of those too.

The White Sox announced Monday that they’ve activated outfielder Jon Jay from the 60-day injured list for his season debut and designated right-hander Odrisamer Despaigne for assignment in order to open a roster spot.
