I want to hear from Rick Hahn. Kenny Williams does nothing for me. He thought they were getting Machado. He thought they were getting Torii Hunter fifteen years ago.

Kenny said this...

Certainly, the White Sox believe they’ve lost their primary winter target. VP Kenny Williams expressed shock in comments to reporters. “We could not go to that $300MM level,” he said

Everything I am reading is Sox offered Machado, 8/$250mm with incentives to be as much as a total $350mm contract... That is a massive offer for the Sox. He went with 10 and 300 guaranteed.. Sox were more per year with greater payout.

Throw $10M on top of that and call Harper.

And just before you send him the offer, announce the right field fence is being moved into 313'. Suck it Yankees.

I think it was a Rosenthal tweet that said it was 8/250 with a 35m option for each of year 9 and 10 that vested with 550 PAs the previous season. That sounds like an achievable option which would put our offer ahead, but its also something that is easily messed with by the team platooning him or otherwise not playing him so the option doesn't vest if he is no longer worth it. Considering its most likely those years where he won't be producing anymore, there would be a pretty high likelihood the team would try to get out of the option which would leave him with less money. And all of that is if those numbers are even real. It was just from one report and does kind of sound like the team trying to save face even though I personally think it makes them look worse.

I remember back in 2007 when Wells signed a 7 year 126 million dollar contract extension, which was seen as jaw dropping money.

Fast forward 12 years, and suddenly Machado turns down nearly DOUBLE that to play for the Pedros.

Hahn better hope all that talent translates, because whiffing on Harper (highly doubt they land him) and Machado means there is far less margin for error now.

He's not involved in the day to day operations now with his "promotion."

What Rick Hahn has been saying has been far more relevant to me.

He has to keep going. They have money to spend and prospects to move. He got to this point by being bold with International money, trades, tanking. He made a big trade with the Cubs when no one thought they'd trade together ever.

They went and got Jon Jay and Alonso to try to get Machado. They made him an offer, they played to his heart by going for his friend and brother in law, it didn't work out. They have 162 games ahead regardless.

Rick Hahn should stay the course. They made a good offer and were not given a chance to match or beat San Diego by all accounts. Move on.

They now have to consider moving Abreu and or Alonso at the deadline if they're bad again. This is looking like a low 90, high 80 loss team on paper right now.

If the billionaire owners of these teams are paying it to them, there is some mechanism that suggests otherwise.

This is a sport that is flush with money right now, too.

This.. There will be a strike when this agreement is up, no doubt about it. Lot of players are not holding back about this offseasons negotiations.

With the Sox, its just upsetting that they can't get a big named player here.. Hopefully one of these kids develops into one, like in Houston etc. Arenado will stay in CO, Trout will be too much money and so on.

They took a shot at a big name guy who was available and didn't get him this time. You keep going.

Bingo with regards to Houston. That's the model the White Sox should be aiming for right now. Obviously, times have changed somewhat since the Astros first started their road to a championship, but we're not that far removed from that.

All you have to do is win the Central and give yourself a chance. Or get in via the Wild Card. Once you're in, you have a small fraction of games to win compared to the 162 prior to that.

Curious move, but getting him settled will be the right thing to do, especially since he had a bad spring. Likely the worst stretch he's been through at the plate.

At least this was some good news for them after Dunning going under the knife earlier this week.

All the projections so far has these guys somewhere around 72-90, and third place in the AL Central for that matter.

They're still going to be interesting to watch, though.

I like the over.. Based on nothing but some hungry kids trying to prove themselves.

Other than James Shields in interleague play, they didn't have anyone take an at bat last year over the age of 30.

I don't see the runs or run prevention being there. They might be better off sucking again. Finishing 500 doesn't do them any good.

All eyes on another infield bat in the June Draft. Hopefully Ken Williams is nowhere near the room where it happens.

White Sox Announce Season-Ending Surgeries For Carlos Rodon, Nate Jones and Micker Adolfo. The first two are pitchers to go along with all the other pitchers in their system who are now injured.

This might be worth them doing a self audit on, no?

Yes.. Add in Dunning, Kopech etc. Something is off. Also, its time for a change with Coop.. Thanks for 2005, and for Buerhle, but its time for some fresh blood. Start bringing up some young arms. The starting rotation is an absolute dumpster fire. Its great to see Gio, Lopez settling down and pitching better. McCann has been a gem of a find, TA is playing with a chip, YoYo can kill the ball, if Ricky can stop moving him from the 2 spot. Headed in right direction, but some of the moves and decisions are head scratchers. Go get Girardi.

Even as a Dodgers fan, the Bull was one of my favorites growing up. He had a run from 1976-1980 that was awesome for both he & the Phillies. I remember his son, Ryan; as a prospect for the Dodgers. Lots of hype but never could get over the hump.

Ron Kittle could mash (and started out in Dodgers organization) but also struck out a lot which means he would be making generational wealth if he were playing today. My favorite ChiSox uniforms were the Ron Kittle era (circa 1983).

God bless the Dodgers. My 2 favorite Sox players started off with them and they let them go. Funny thing is, both Kitty & Paulie played at my first and current local high schools, Gary Wirt and Scottsdale Chaparral. Ron lived next door to my Grandparents in Aetna.
