God bless the Dodgers. My 2 favorite Sox players started off with them and they let them go. Funny thing is, both Kitty & Paulie played at my first and current local high schools, Gary Wirt and Scottsdale Chaparral. Ron lived next door to my Grandparents in Aetna.

Yup. Konerko was a highly rated catcher before being traded to the Reds. I was able to catch him when he came through Little Rock as a member of the Dodgers AA affiliate. Great career.

Giolito is having some kind of year so far.

This.. what a turnaround. his velocity was down last year and it showed. He credits McCann for helping him get better as well.. Great to see for the 24 year old. Some of the building blocks look great. Anderson, Gio, YoYo, Tilson a pleasant surprise, Colome looks good and the pen way better. Please DFA Yonder. Signed all fans

I will be fully on board with this front office if they draft the kid from Cal next month with their first round pick. My fear for them is with the pitching injuries they go for an arm, or worse, they like what they have at first/DH and take a high school kid.

Also, the Bleday kid from Vanderbilt has legit power and plays right field. He should be there at the third overall pick.

My guess is the Sox will go with a HS bat with their first round pick and use their second pick on a HS arm. Not the route I'd go.

I want that kid as well.. It would be nice after the draft if they go make an offer to Dallas.. We need a veteran starter on the staff. 4 games out from Wild Card i know is wishful thinking but lets spend and get a piece that could help. Please sign a left handed bat as well that isn't a former 16" softball slugger like Dunn, LaRoche, Alonso etc.

I'm fine with any slugger that can hit the home runs and draw the walks. If it is nothing but outs without the good stuff, keep him.

Rick Hahn needs to walk a fine line right now. The rebuild is showing signs of improvement this year. They have some guys still on the farm coming through and some others on the shelf rehabbing from injury. They may feel inclined, as their fan base certainly will, to go out and start spending money. Stay the course.

Dallas Keuchel is 31 years old and was asking for 6-7 years. Is that something the White Sox should be looking at?

They need to get within grasp of a division before they start making bold moves. They aren't there yet.

Sounds like unless the Royals pass on Bobby Witt's kid, the Sox are getting JD Bertrand's former teammate CJ Abrams.

The Sox have done their due diligence on ASU's Hunter Bishop and I'd have loved to see him with the Sox for personal reasons but it sounds obvious they are going HS. He's been fun to watch this year along with Spencer Torkleson (next year's #1 pick?) Jeter and Posada we're up in the Moneyball office when Stanford came through last week to check him out.

I think CJ Abrams makes a lot of sense I wouldn't be surprised if the Sox make a big splash in the next year or 2 and go after a for sure starting Ace . They have a boat load of outfield talent in the minors and not everyone is going to be able to come up. Jimenz has his spot, Robert will be there next year.

Reports indicate that Abrams and Vaughn are in play for that third overall pick. Still think you have to look at Bleday.

However Kenny Williams is wanting, stay away from that person and trust everyone else in the room. See last year, Madrigal over Singer.

They have the 45th pick and there is little doubt that pick is going to be a high school player, though there are going to be college bats available there too.

Developing pitching is a pain in the ass. They're already seeing this to be the case with Rodon, Kopech and Dunning. Now with free agency appearing to be over with, anyone with any kind of ace starter is going to try and lock that guy down to a long term deal.

Doing a tank/rebuild around the time the Cubs and Astros started theirs was the best timing you could have had.

I think CJ Abrams makes a lot of sense

Every scouting report has him sounding like a toolsy athlete with speed and below average power. That's Kenny Williams M.O. if there ever was one. If Abrams plays football too it's a slam dunk Kenny pick.

It's a hitter's draft. Vaughn, Bleday and Bishop would be the guys to look at hard. If they feel they have the time to invest in developing Abrams, and they seem to think they have that time, that's who they'll go with.

Looking at how the Twins are destroying baseballs so far this year, you have to give those three college bats a really hard look.

How the worm has turned.

Giolito has gone from inevitable bust to ace in the making in the span of about 8 months.

Cease coming up soon too, could help shore up a shaky 2-5 of the rotation. Hope Lopez turns things around. Had a decent last start before Renteria left him out to dry.

Need the run differential to swing a little more in our favor, but nice to see winning streaks. Still want to DFA Yonder and Wellington.

There was a rumor going around last night that Baltimore won't be taking the Oregon State catcher not sure how much truth there is to that

Been playing some exciting ball. Hoping to catch a game this month on my way to my boy doing the middle school camp at ND.

If they pass and royals take witt, are the sox taking him at 3?

You have to.. He is the best player in the draft. Collins can DH or play 1B, Zavala can be a back up, or has been rumored on the trade block here and there too..
Where are you seeing Baltimore will pass on him????

Vaughn is a great pick. Need a guy to insert into the 1B slot with a quality bat. Allows us to move Abreu to DH, where he belongs, because his glove is horrendous.

I love the Vaughn pick. Proof that Hahn and Hostetler are running the show despite a lot of White Sox Twitter fretting about Kenny Williams.

The second pick was a HS pitcher which was to be expected. They had to scratch that itch. Still, looking at the bats they've drafted these last few years it has been clear what they're trying to do. Doesn't mean it will work, but they're taking a smart approach now rather than drafting football athletes that can't play baseball.

Really not a fan of what the sox are doing why take a high school pitcher in the 3rd or 4th these kids most likely aren't going to sign

I'm fine with it.

Pitching is, with few exceptions, kind of a draft crapshoot. Some stick, some don't.

If they don't sign, the Sox get compensatory picks next year. They also have already stacked their fielding talent in the system.

They need to bring up Dylan Cease kid is ready

Eh.

There's no sense in rushing Cease. He's only been in AAA for 3 months and while he's doing well there, I wouldn't say he's dominating at that level. He still has some work to do with his control and pitch further into games.

This.. Bring him up August or Sept.. Right around same time Robert comes up. How about Moncadas numbers. 294/348/508 12 Homers. The corp is there.. Moncada, TA, Eloy starting to hit bombs. Gio on fire. Lopez needs to reign it in but has shown flashes. Tilson, pleasant surprise. Leury will be trade bait. Abreu leads AL in RBI's. Bullpen has been much much improved. Team is fun to watch.

Cease's most recent performance wasn't great, though he was let down by his defense in the field. Sox don't let their prospects throw more than 40 pitches in an inning and he was thus pulled quickly.

Giolitio is looking very elite right now. He's keeping them interesting and around 500

Eloy the last two weeks has been picking it up a bit at the plate. 474 foot home runs aren't bad ways to start digging into your MLB career, either.
