Nothing official, and a few are denouncing these rumors as untrue.

I'd have to assume these are fake rumors because nobody would be stupid enough to extend Ventura after 4 consecutive losing seasons. Of course, if there's a franchise capable of such idiocy, I'm sure it's this one...

Damn JR and the 7 championships he gave us! Damn him I say!

Kenny can kick rocks but I'll never give the Chairman any grief. Before he showed up, we had nothing in my lifetime.

That was 11 years ago. The Bulls haven't won diddly in nearly 2 decades. The White Sox have 1 world series in nearly 100 years of baseball.

I'm sorry, but Jerry doesn't get excused for past successes, especially those from years ago. It's a "what have you done for me lately" sports world and lately, JR has done little to improve either franchises' situation.

If he's resting on his laurels, then he owes it to every fan to step down and sell the team to someone who actually wants to win.

They are saying they made this public on purpose so it doesn't look like the Sox are firing him. They are "giving him the option" to step aside or return. He is not coming back I bet. I interned for the Sox in 2004. Jerry is the most loyal, to a fault owner of all time. Time for Kenny to go, bring Robin with him. Regarding selling the team, it is on the market but to only people Reinsdorf wants to take over the team. You won't see a Mark Cuban anytime soon, and that is exactly what the team needs.

Renteria is expected to replace Robin. Announcement expected Monday.

Also beginning to look like Kenny Williams might be stepping down. There is a god.

Must suck to be young. Besides the 7 titles he gave us, there were double digit seasons where the JR's teams were title contenders and as long as i live, I'll never like a team more than the '83 Sox. JR has consistently paid for a contender. That's all i ask for besides Kenny's head.

If I was the Billionaire in charge, I'd get the band back together... Dave Dombrowski, Tony LaRussa, Jim Leyland & Dave Duncan. That's talent.

Screw that. I would get a band of Terry Bevington, Gene Lamont, Jeff Torborg, and Jerry Manuel!

I love Robin. He was my favorite player growing up and he handled himself well as a manager and handled his exit with extreme class. That said, I'm excited to see where we go next. I hope they interview some people and don't simply go with Rick Renteria.

I mostly agree.

Loved Robin as a player, handled his exit with class, but he was an awful manager. No way around it. Nothing against him personally, but the guy couldn't manage his way out of a paper bag.

Glad we can finally move on, and hopefully nab a manager who knows what he's doing.

Just watched the last couple of innings from the 05 series. Such a great run in that playoffs. Hopefully the Indians can feel that way tonight.

Was never a matter of "if" for this Cubs team, but "when." Now it's "how many?"

I'm happy for my Cub friends who haven't been jackasses this season, and will avoid social media for a few years until the annoying ones having their moment blows over.

Congrats to them. Baseball is a fickle game. Just because a team seems destined for a dynasty, doesn't mean they're guaranteed anything. let's pump the brakes a little. The ball bounced their way a bunch to get this championship.

I am as diehard sox as it gets, while i agree with this to a point, there is no denying the Cubs are stacked and loaded for a several year run here if they can stay healthy and get some younger pitchers to come in and Compliment Hendricks and Lester, since they are the only 2 that are guaranteed to be around for a couple years. You can take their 1-8 hitter and put them at the 2-5 spot on any team.. That says a lot about what kind of hitters they have. Schwarber (who is going to make a ton of money in the AL in the future) was batting 2nd, that is crazy if you think about it.. That dude is a 4 all day long, but the cubs are so stacked they can mix and match anywhere and not have a power outage. I would love to have the riches of the minors that the Cubs, RedSox, Cards, Astros, Indians. I don't want to give up Sale and Quintana yet, but come July if we aren't in it and we can reload a whole team like these guys have done make it happen. Look at what the Yankees got for Chapman and Miller - closers mind you not even starters. 8 top of the line prospects -that apparently the Yankees are going to use to go after sale. Winning 103 games a little more than bounces going your way.

oh no, don't get me wrong, they're loaded. i'm not saying they needed bounces going their way to get the 103 wins, the best teams usually have the most wins during the season. there's a reason that the best team doesn't always win the series. my bounces going their way was a reference to the playoff run. if one of those guys slump extends an extra inning, or the rain holds off until after the 10th, or a call here or there goes differently, they may have lost.

Sale gone to Boston for Mocada, Kopech, Basabe, Cruz. Possibly more on the way. Finally nice to see the team tear it down. I love Sale, but he was never going to win here. Time to start from scratch with our 3B of the future. team is extremely young in just one move. With at least 2-3 more moves coming.

Good move to get rid of Sale while we can, he's good, but he either gets hurt or fades.

This is a ****ing GREAT trade. I can't believe they got what they did! I wish they could have brought former IU slugger Sam Travis (Schwarber's roommate) back to Chicago he's from (New Lenox or Orland) but that's just the greedy part of me talking.

I was afraid they were gonna lay down and take the Nat's deal which is nowhere near this deal. In fact, i thought they were doing it to shove it up the Cubs azz... Scherzer, Sale, Strasburg? Ouch. Gio would have gone 22-5 as the #4. lol

This, i did not like what the Nats were offering at all.. Now you get 2 arms and 2 positional guys. Both are switch hitting, Moncada has potential to be anchor at 3rd for a lot of years. Hoping Boston picked up that entire $31,5 million signing bonus.

Mark my words Fraziers deal will be announced next most likely to Dodgers. Still a lot of trades to happen. It is refreshing to start this team over for a change. No longer the 16 softball champs of the southside

They did

Do you trade q/drob to the nats for the package of geolito and Robles and others that was offered for sale? That would give sox 3 of top 10 prospects. Insane if they'd all pan out.
