Hard pass
Tomlin isn't winning at the end of the season as of late, especially in the playoffs. The Steeler standard is so much higher than the Bears.I would gladly hire Tomlin, but I don’t think he’ll be available until he has a bad season for Pittsburgh. He does need to figure out these offensive coaching hires though.
Absolutely some back scratching. Gotta get guys raises and what notI swear about half (if not more) of these first round interviews are driven by agents... "You want Coach X, no problem, but you need to interview Coach Y to get a chance"
How much can they expect out of that quarterback room?Tomlin isn't winning at the end of the season as of late, especially in the playoffs. The Steeler standard is so much higher than the Bears.
I don't get the impression the Rooneys will make a move, but you never know. I expect them to get hammered by the Ravens.
Anyone taking this seriously is hard to take serious. I don't see him going anywhere let alone the Bears.Ignoring the fact it's hopefully just click bait... but if the bears hire Marcus Freeman, I'm rooting for the packers going forward.
Warren texted Freeman after the Marshall Loss:Before the McCarthy news, I firmly believed it was either Ben Johnson or Monken. I have no idea what to think with McCarthy in the picture.
Regarding MF, that reeks of Kevin Warren... I would be shocked if MF interviews
I don't think McCarthy leads the Bears to a Super Bowl. That's why I think he'll get hired. They can then say they hired an experienced NFL HC with a Super Bowl and it'll be a PR show that certain meatballs are going to buy. They're the same people that believe the garbage they see on Facebook.“You talk about a low moment. I remember coming back here and sitting in my office and nobody’s coming in your office. It’s just you and you… I got a text from Kevin Warren, who at that time was the Big Ten commissioner — now he’s the president of the Chicago Bears — and he sent me a T.D. Jakes sermon. It was talking about the bumpy road… That kind of really hit me, and I explained it to the team that we’ve gotta go through these bumps… We have to go through these low moments to figure out what it takes to lead a program like this, to figure out what this team needs to be successful.”
BK also wasn't trying to go to the NFL and he also wasn't going to LSU when those rumors started.Anyone taking this seriously is hard to take serious. I don't see him going anywhere let alone the Bears.
It is probably going to be Ben Johnson when all is said and done, and now McCarthy is available so maybe there is a chance there. Johnson has already been interviewed. They requested McCarthy and were denied, but now he's no longer employed.
I'd take the Poodle over McCarthy.Warren texted Freeman after the Marshall Loss:

He's 11-11 in the playoffs and 4 of those wins were when Green Bay won the Super Bowl.
They didn’t only interview three guys. That’s who the finalists were.I'm just relieved to see a list of more than 3 fucking guys.
Last time, the Bears interviewed three names: Matt Eberflus, Dan Quinn and Jim Caldwell. McCaskey basically plopped that list on Poles' desk on his first day and said "pick one". FFS.
This time: Carroll, Johnson, Brady, Vrabel, Flores and Brown, plus others. This indicates what we knew already. George was probably told to sit in the timeout corner while Warren and Poles played point on the coaching search.
I'm still not happy that Poles kept his job since he hasn't really done much to warrant any sort of confidence, but the process has clearly changed this time around.
Without a third option? Yes.I'd take the Poodle over McCarthy.
Not the same thing, but by all means worry away when we're one week from a National Championship Game.BK also wasn't trying to go to the NFL and he also wasn't going to LSU when those rumors started.
I agree highly implausible MF leaves, especially for the bears, but nothing is ever 100% certain one way or the other.

Kevin Warren and Marcus Freeman know each other. The team has interviewed NINE people already. Not all of them are serious candidates.
That's exactly what would be happening. Pretending.Same thing and I'm not worried about it. But by all means continue to pretend to be the smartest guy in the room.

I think McCarthy would be really good for the Bears right now, I know he's flawed, but he would really stabilize that organization. I'm not sure if he's under serious consideration by them or not, I know they wanted to interview about a week ago.I still think there are three serious candidates out of this pack of 20 or whatever it is.
Most of these interviews have not even been in person. They didn't fly Pete Carroll in to meet with him according to reports.
I think they're serious about him. I think it is him and Ben Johnson at this point. Anthony Weaver is probably the surprise guy.I think McCarthy would be really good for the Bears right now, I know he's flawed, but he would really stabilize that organization. I follow the Raiders as a loose second team since I live in the West Coast, and trust me, you want to stop the circus, and build a foundation. McCarthy has won a Super Bowl, I know that was a long time ago, but not many guys can say that.I think they're serious about him. I think it is him and Ben Johnson at this point. Anthony Weaver is probably the surprise guy.
I suppose if they want stability, McCarthy would be the guy. You'd think that the objective would ultimately be Super Bowl, but I guess you crawl before you walk? Virginia McCaskey just turned 102 last week. If she's going to see another Super Bowl they'd probably want to get moving.
Here are the completed interviews per the organization's social media announcements.
Mike Vrabel
Drew Petzig
Anthony Weaver
Pete Carroll
Mike Kafka
Ben Johnson
Aaron Glenn
Ron Rivera
Thomas Brown
David Shaw
Add Pete Caroll and Rivera to that list (although Rivera might have been Rooney rule)McCarthy sounds like John Fox part 2
Rivera is also highly respected by the organization and spent over a decade with them between playing time and coaching. I didn't see him as a serious candidate, almost akin to them interviewing Mike Singletary every time there was an opening.Add Pete Caroll and Rivera to that list (although Rivera might have been Rooney rule)
