I would gladly hire Tomlin, but I don’t think he’ll be available until he has a bad season for Pittsburgh. He does need to figure out these offensive coaching hires though.

Tomlin isn't winning at the end of the season as of late, especially in the playoffs. The Steeler standard is so much higher than the Bears.

I don't get the impression the Rooneys will make a move, but you never know. I expect them to get hammered by the Ravens.

Anyone taking this seriously is hard to take serious. I don't see him going anywhere let alone the Bears.

It is probably going to be Ben Johnson when all is said and done, and now McCarthy is available so maybe there is a chance there. Johnson has already been interviewed. They requested McCarthy and were denied, but now he's no longer employed.

Warren texted Freeman after the Marshall Loss:

I don't think McCarthy leads the Bears to a Super Bowl. That's why I think he'll get hired. They can then say they hired an experienced NFL HC with a Super Bowl and it'll be a PR show that certain meatballs are going to buy. They're the same people that believe the garbage they see on Facebook.

He's 11-11 in the playoffs and 4 of those wins were when Green Bay won the Super Bowl.

I agree highly implausible MF leaves, especially for the bears, but nothing is ever 100% certain one way or the other.

I'm just relieved to see a list of more than 3 fucking guys.

Last time, the Bears interviewed three names: Matt Eberflus, Dan Quinn and Jim Caldwell. McCaskey basically plopped that list on Poles' desk on his first day and said "pick one". FFS.

This time: Carroll, Johnson, Brady, Vrabel, Flores and Brown, plus others. This indicates what we knew already. George was probably told to sit in the timeout corner while Warren and Poles played point on the coaching search.

I'm still not happy that Poles kept his job since he hasn't really done much to warrant any sort of confidence, but the process has clearly changed this time around.

They didn’t only interview three guys. That’s who the finalists were.

Eberflus also falls on Poles. He had been given the right for refusal, but was convinced Flus was his “football soulmate.” I agree on not being happy Poles kept his job.

Acquiring guys like Claypool and Nate Davis, who don’t even like nor want to play football, Ryan Bates, with a chronically arthritic shoulder, and 3rd round pick Velus Jones, a kick returner who can’t catch kicks…it’s all just too much to warrant keeping a job.

I mean, the guy was exceedingly proud of the job he did building an offensive line this year.

Ben Johnson made Goff an MVP caliber QB. Get him in here, fix up the offensive line and lets go. Situations matter. CJ Stroud, Jayden Daniels and Bo Nix were all brought into better ones. The Bears lost too many close games this past season because of coaching. Their issues are more and deeper than Caleb.

The Bears announced they have completed their interview with Denver Broncos executive David Shaw for their head coach vacancy.

I think McCarthy would be really good for the Bears right now, I know he's flawed, but he would really stabilize that organization. I'm not sure if he's under serious consideration by them or not, I know they wanted to interview about a week ago.

I follow the Raiders as a loose second team since I live in the West Coast, and trust me, you want to stop the circus, and build a foundation. McCarthy has won a Super Bowl, I know that was a long time ago, but not many guys can say that.

I know Ben Johnson is the hot name that everyone wants (including the Raiders) but I'm not entirely convinced he'll end up the better HC over Aaron Glenn. Glenn is kind of looked at as the consolation prize by many, but man he took a defense of dudes off the street due to injuries and had Sam Darnold seeing ghosts again. Considering the injuries, that week 18 performance from the defense was one of the best I had ever seen in the regular season from any defense.

Rivera is also highly respected by the organization and spent over a decade with them between playing time and coaching. I didn't see him as a serious candidate, almost akin to them interviewing Mike Singletary every time there was an opening.
