Changes to atmosphere in ND Stadium?

Are they still
At least "Right Here! Right Now!" is gone. Heard it in a UFC commercial recently and cringed
That has to be the worst hype song ever attempted at a football stadium. You'd have to be blasted for that to get you up.

Objectively false that half of our undergrads are in the Library on Saturdays. Our percentage of students that attend games is on par with the Service academies that mandate attendance.
It's a message board. Its a joke.

Part of the Gameday atmosphere problem is definitely the xylophones in the band, banging away on their high-pitch, metallic-sounding tunes during the game. How is the defense gonna get hyped enough to get a stop on a key 3rd down when the goofy ass xylophones are playing their rendition of the 1812 Overture?*

*an actual complaint I saw when I loaded the game thread one (1) time on Saturday. You guys are fucking TOXIC in the game threads lol

Ways to fix the boring atmosphere...

1) play better against shitty teams
2) schedule less shitty teams for home games
3) lower the damn cost, so more casuals (i.e. more vocal) can get in
4) sell alcohol
5) ban any gray hair for life who bitches about standing up
6) as far as the DJ and the hype lady, until you fix #3, it's a lost cause. They are trying (especially the hype lady), but my god is ND Stadium stale as hell during the day

Here's how my weekend went... left Central Iowa (took my whole family - who hates the long drive btw and two of their friends) after my sons' high school football game Friday night; got to our hotel in Merrillville at 4am; got up at 8am and left for South Bend at 9am. Got parked around 11:30. Did the bookstore thing, took guests to the usual places (which I can imagine is boring for HS kids); then proceeded to watch the most incredibly boring and disappointing game that could have occurred.

I was so mad, I'm seriously thinking about skipping the rest of the home games until FSU. That drive takes a lot out of me because of not being able to leave until Friday night.

I would set aside about 1000 tickets on the endzone opposite the student section as a standing room only section at like 25 bucks. May not fix everything, but adding more loud, rowdy fans would help a lot.

Student body is too small to ever be a raucous home environment + ND fans love to bring their whole family to the games regardless of age / gender. It is what it is.
Exactly.

Tennessee has nearly 30,000 students. Even a jack wagon football program like U of I has about that and if they happen to be good they can create crazy Saturday night atmospheres like they did in 2000, 2001, 2007. The sheer student body numbers alone are always going to be a disadvantage. 9000 students, no Greek life, etc. We've covered all of this discussion after discussion.

It is what it is.

The DJ was so laughable. Like I think that's generally something that could work at a place like Miami, but having the dude pretend to spin the disks while playing Welcome to the Jungle on his spotify was just an incredibly poor execution of an idea that sucked to begin with
These are the kinds of details I was looking for lol.

This is the function of being a university man. Every school does that stuff too
I refuse to believe OSU or Alabama is wasting everyones time and bringing the atmosphere to a halt to honor their librarians or their men's tandem diving teams.

Put it in an email or do it at the pep rally. Fuck off during games.

O’Malley has been ragging on the game day experience Saturday. He called it beyond lame in a few different threads but didn’t really give specifics.

Just curious what anyone here has to offer on the subject. I can only imagine how bad the music selection was.

EDIT I’m not asking for changes you would make. I’m asking what actually changed this year because it seems like it somehow got worse from previous years.
It was legitimately terrible. But also like... the team didn't give the fans anything to cheer for?

It got progressively worse as the game went on. Even though it was a close game, fans basically became demoralized that we were getting our asses handed to us consistently. Not sure if I've ever been at a game where the boo's were as intense as I heard on Saturday. We were outplayed in every facet of the game.

I used to be against booing college athletes, but they’re getting paid now, so 🤷🏼‍♂️

The lines at the concession stand are awful. It took me 25 minutes to get my wife some damn pretzel bites.

If the university could do not thing to fix that situation, it would be to completely ban wives from attending football games.

The blocked kick at the end of the first half is the only time I have ever boo'd ND. Not proud of it, but it was just an honest reaction from the fans at that point. Also I paid $2k+ for that "experience" and now that these guys are all getting paid.... I dunno. I feel like the social contract is different.

I thought the boo's after Riley's second interception were louder than the blocked kick at the end of the half.

It wasn’t so much of a boo as much as it was a collective “WHAT THE FUCK” that turned into a boo. Seriously if you go back and listen the sound when the ball is in the air is more one of exasperation than excitement bc you could see pretty early that ball wasn’t going to have the juice to hit Mitchell in stride.

So, the problem was the asshole fans that booed our players. Now that we’ve got settled, what about our S&C program?

It may take more than a two game sample to determine that. I’m not going to lay the results on S&C; because we looked awesome at aTm. Nah, I think this one is squarely on Marcus.

You had every right to boo. With the coaches and players getting paid thousands/millions, they deserved every bit of it.

I’ve said for a while that the stadium atmosphere is terrible for 90% of games. I could think of about a dozen things they need to change. And, yes, the football team not sucking dick is one of them.

This is what concerns me the most. Along with all the other changes, so will the expectations. If ND doesn't adapt at some point, the millennial and younger generations that have no real ties to success will eventually tune out as they age. At the same time the oldest boomers are in their 80's. It could be a steep final cliff fall into the abyss if ND doesn't quickly fix what's ailed them the last 30 years.

ND has gone into many hostile stadiums away from home, that's what ND needs to at home is make it hostile for the visiting team.

It's almost too fan friendly for me, they need to get a good light show, fireworks, get better music (I feel like I am at a club).

In the off season whoever is the game manager of the stadium needs to visit other colleges to get some ideas.

I want kids to have a good time, but at the same time don't make it a good time for the visiting team.

The major issue is teachers giving away tickets and just going to tailgate and old people bitching about sitting down if you don’t like standing up stay fucking home

I’m sure folks did much worse in their living rooms while watching on TV…LOL.

It was basically the same kick that Jeter made twice in College Station under much more duress. WTH?!

Right. There’s got to be a middle ground. Not every game can be hosting SC at night in October on prime time tv. And no one is suggesting ND fans turn into drunken hooligans but it’s like going to a kid’s Upward Flag Football game where they don’t keep score.
