Changes for NCAA 13

I am a big NCAA Football Series nut. I love the game and I love the aspects that Dynasty brings. To me NCAA 12 was a solid game, but from reviews I read, the fans weren't happy. Too many server problems, glitches, overly athletic linebackers, and small attention to detail elements were missing.

The game also added some great elements such as the addition of coordinators, coaching carousel, the ability to edit conferences and BCS tie-in games. I would like to see any proposed changes and suggestions that the Irish Envy Community might have to offer for the new game. I have a couple modifications and some recruiting additions I would like to see in NCAA 13.

Coaching

The Coaching Carousel was a nice little addition, it added some realism to an area that hadn't really been touched before. But with all new additions, there is the element of fine tuning and thats what the coaching carousel needs. For me it was too goal-based. You could have 5 BCS seasons in a row, win the national championship, and then have a terrible season after that and be axed. Can this happen in real life? Yes , but would it? Probably not. I want to see firings and hirings be based on more than just goals.

The Coordinator Position was a nice addition, but again fine tuning. They should allow the head coach the ability to hire and fire these positions. They should also give them more responbilities or tasks to actually make it more life like. You could really expand here from recruiting to player development to in-game bonuses. Give the coordinators some substance.

Recruiting

I would like to see a couple All-Star games integrated into the system.

I want to see player movement in the rankings and the doing away with the addition of top prospects in the off-season.

The ability to recruit players from their Junior year up. This was something I liked about the NCAA Basketball games. You could gather information from years of upcoming players and plan and recruit accordingly.

These are just a few changes and modifications I would hope to see in the upcoming game. Please post your thoughts, I am interested to see what you NCAA players think.

I still play the game regularly, I think recruiting needs to be more accurate I can't tell you how many 4* freshman I cut before they even run through the tunnel. To fix recruiting they could at least give us their speed, agility, and acceleration rating. I just hope they have Notre Dame's" under the lights" uniforms with the shamrocks on the helmet in next year's game.

I've been asking for an 85 man roster for years now. Make it happen EA.

I posted this on gamefaqs a while back...

Unis get to me in this game. So many great ones released during the season... Though I don't trust ea doing dlc. How about Let us make custom unis IN GAME, like a team builder thing for unis only. These would not replace in game unis only add to the options You could even do a uni share type thing like roster share. This would also keep dynasty fresher longer as you could evolve teams unis as years pass... This is big for me.

Few other things:

Enhanced crowd atmosphere, college environment and home field advantage... Those squiggly lines don't come close to doing this and should be the first thing scrapped if they can't improve crowd noise, atmosphere and such... The best thing about cfb is atmosphere. It should be the best part of this game WHILE PLAYING THE GAME. Not just during silly intros that no one watches more than once.

Improve the coaching carousel... Deepen it and have it truly impact dynasty.. You hire your staff, unit coaches ... Each coach should have attached ratings for player rating impact, recruiting skill and team discipline.... Player rating should be a given, most coaches will have no impact to negative impact, making hirings much more important if you want to coach a winner and much harder to maintain as good coaches will move on due to demand... It should be hard to achieve bcs staffs and harder to maintain them... This would add many more dimensions to dynasty... Recruiting impact, penalties will actually play a real part(explain in a second) , and a coaching carousel that truly matters...

Last:

Gameplay, ... No more super line backers. Screen and play action, read option and such that work on heisman, while also having better defenses against the things that work... More randomnesses and less robo reactions every time... Penalties need to play more a factor like in real life... The discipline rating from your staff determines the penalty occurrence.

Just my thoughts

I think they could really do big things with adding more features with the staff. It would add another dimension to dynast. Good ideas.

I like where you're coming from...I remember on past games when they would have things such as player infractions and you had to punish them according to how you saw fit...However, if you were too laxed on punishment, the NCAA would slap you with sanctions...I would definitely be a huge fan of that...Also if there was a Player annd Coach discipline rating, that would be cool...Coaches with high discipline ratings would be able to take risks on players with low discipline ratings

In addition to the coaching carousel, maybe if there was a school budget feature...that could make it more difficult to keep successful coaching staffs together as coordinator's/head coaches may be lured away by a higher salary or more desirable program...May be difficult to add in, but that may be an interesting addition

I know this will never happen since the NCAA would never ever ever sign off on it, but the ability to perform recruiting violations and "roll the dice" on getting a star recruit versus sanctions would be really cool. (We all know it happens in real life.)

That being said, realistically: 85 man roster.

That would be sick, but like you said, doubtful that it would ever happen...Although, maybe if they had something like a "dead" or "quiet" period of recruiting and you chose to still contact a recruit that would be a minor enough violation that the NCAA may think about it...lol Totally understand the NCAA not wanting the option of $50,000 being swapped under the table as an option on the game...AND THAT is why they can kiss it when they brag about the realism of the game...I'd like to see the option of personal foul hits on the sideline and the option to just grab receivers when beaten deep...

My issues with the game have to deal with the passing game
Fix the 83 speed line backers keeping up with a 98 speed slot receiver.
Fix their ability to jump 5 feet in the air to knock passes down.
Fix corner backs and safeties having eyes on the back of their heads
If balls got knocked down as much as they did in NCAA 12, no body would want to play QB.

Because of my above problems I gave up on passing and switched to 1940s football and ran option and power I all the time.

85 man roster

Giving your second team playing time during the game should in some way effect their abilities when they become upper class men.

Home field advantage should make more of a difference.

5-10 more roster spots. For example I don't have Rees, McDaniel, smith, Carrico , Heggie and a couple others

Adding more roster spots would make the game certainly more dynamic because there would be a bigger disparity between freshmen and upperclassmen.

Nothing is worse than bringing in the best class in the country and having to cut ten of them because you can't have full rosters... not only is it lame and sucks for your team, but really... all you end up doing is deleting some of the best freshmen in the game and that makes the gap between you and the rest of the country grow because you are basically deleting their potential stars...

and at a certain point, for years now, this game is very easy after four five years into dynasty unless you TRY to stay with the pack in recruiting.

Also have a potential and toughness rating for players. The fact that 5 stars come in 82 overall just results in everyone being 95+ by your 3rd year

One of the things that should be fixed is how the option is played.

Sometimes cornerbacks just backpeddle into oblivion and you have one less defender in play. Other times, defenders play neither the QB or the RB and just play the space in between.

As for LBs being too fast, you need to play with your speed threshold. I play in a league that it's the opposite. Speed kills so power/load options and HB tosses are used all game because D-linemen that aren't absolutely elite are useless. I hate that leagues sliders...

I tend to just recruit for my team needs and for the players that take a year or two to develop like scrambling quarterbacks. Perhaps Ill spring for an elite linemen but my classes only tend to be about 12-15 players at the most each season.

RTG mode either needs some fixing or needs to be dumped.

I like the concept so I'd prefer they just fix it.

I'd like to see the ability to edit rosters while in dynasty restored and why not bring back the preseason training?

i would like to see stadium renovations/additions. if i build Ball State into a
dynasty i want to be able to enhance the stadium, you can already build stadiums in teambuilder, why not reward coaching accomplishments with things like new jumbotrons, new turf, or increased
seating. also, this was a feature in the old ncaa march madness games, add in renovations to practice facilities and campus buildings to make recruiting better.

I'm the EXACT same way. Useless trying to get 20-25 guys when you are gonna end up cutting some to make room. Also the less players you try and get the more time you can spend on recruiting them and your chances of getting them go up.

Ooooo that would be a great idea. It would be awesome if we could upgrade facilities.

The first class or two in a Dynasty I try to load up with everything, but as the seasons go on I recruit smaller classes because I end up cutting a lot of players. You are right NDOM with the smaller classes you can concentrate on the players you really want.

I wouldn't mind seeing philosophy and playbooks play more of a part in how particular players play. Example: The Navy offensive line...they'd be terrible for any other team, but they fit well with the Navy philosophy.

I've wanted this forever. No reason why my two time NC winning BSU team should have a home crowd of under 10,000...lol

U can edit rosters inside dynastys. I already recruited an exact copy of our recruiting class and renamed the players and edited their abilitys to match

85 man rosters like everyone said. And also I want a new way to set up my depth chart. Like I would prefer if instead of a master depth chart we would instead get formations and then set up the depth chart from there. It would make defense a lot easier to manage. I hate running a 3-4 defense and then needing to use formation subs to set up my defense if i decide to go to a 4-3 hybrid in the middle of the game.

Oh and fix substitutions. It seems like i can find no real middle ground with in game substitutions. Either my players rarely sub in or they sub in so much that eventually I have my scrambling QB player corner. The game should use more common sense and realize that if we run out of new subs, just put in the guys that are the least tired at the moment.
