Of course. The year I'm planning my retirement....Supposedly this meteor is going to hit in 2032. We going to have a GM by then?

Let’s just name the meteor the GM. Potential huge impact on the roster.Supposedly this meteor is going to hit in 2032. We going to have a GM by then?
My favorite post of 2025 so far.Let’s just name the meteor the GM. Potential huge impact on the roster.
Totally agree, the ND GM role is one of the most complex positions I college football, I suspect. Part of me wonders whether Blanchard didn’t want the pressure and challenge of an ND role and so asked for something he knew he could not get. He wouldn’t be the first dude who chose the relative simplicity of recruiting the South from the South, or a program with fewer expectations of its athletes. With Freeman in charge I trust him to find a GM that fits with this football team. With Freeman in charge I like that he didn't want to give Blanchard 100% control in the recruiting department. Nice to see ND swing for the fence with this potential hire, but recruiting at Notre Dame vs Texas Tech is a different animal.
Agreed. I think now that the whirlwind of the Blanchard courting is done, ND will take its time and ensure the right hire. This will lead to frustration for fans who want the hire made ASAP but I trust MF & staff to get the right guy. With Freeman in charge I trust him to find a GM that fits with this football team. But also has the chance of going elsewhere.Let’s just name the meteor the GM. Potential huge impact on the roster.

Which top college program gives a "GM" total control over who the program recruits? I have never heard of that.
ND shouldn't have allowed this to drag on, either.
Reported widely that Bowden does not report to Lincoln RileySo he has authority over the head coach who to recruit? I can’t imagine any big time school or coach is going to commit to that
It was reported a week ago they would look at Suddess now saying he won’t be a factor so no clueSo who do they go after?
That's not the same thing. Bowden not "reporting" to Riley just means that he can't fire Bowden (which is apparently the case). Bowden didn't want to be canned if Riley gets canned. But that doesn't mean Bowden can decide whether or not a recruit gets an offer. It's pretty crazy, in my view, to give that power to someone who holds a job that didn't exist until a year ago. Apparently Blanchard can veto any offer at TTU. I'm a little baffled by why that would be a good idea at ND. I think ultimately that power has to rest with the HC or position coaches.Reported widely that Bowden does not report to Lincoln Riley
Either way… you are done working.Of course. The year I'm planning my retirement....
I’m in Terre Haute. I’m not casting any stonesYou are correct he didn’t say it… but man Elkhart gets a raw deal. RV museum, train museum… and umm you know… all that other stuff.
I agree with you. Texas Tech isn't relevant like ND is. Once he knew his family didn't want to leave Texas I think he used ND to get more from Texas Tech. I am glad that Freeman didn't give him 100% reins of the recruiting department.Totally agree, the ND GM role is one of the most complex positions I college football, I suspect. It is still early and with the need of a RB coach I also trust Freeman will find the right team guy GM hire. The more & more I read about Blanchard I don't think he would've been the right hire.Agreed. There were questions after the NIU loss and Freeman responded. No Blanchard; Freeman will respond with the right GM hire.I think a lot of people do too. If freeman wasn’t in charge or this was year one this board and others would be in complete meltdown mode.
He played football at Navy and got his MBA at William & Mary. Why not go after this guy? SCUM seems to be having a lot of NIL/recruiting success. Is he a MI guy (didn't bother to research it)? If not, let's pay him more and get him to come over to the good guys

If true that Bowden doesn’t report to Riley (and I don’t doubt you) I can see all kinds of problems arising. Not just at USC, but any school that has this arrangement and wants to compete for a NC.That's not the same thing. Copiums a helluva drugAnd so it begins lol
Stud recruiter with Fla roots, he'd be a huge pickup. My UGA buddies loved him, said he was just as important as Kirby to their run through his recruiting chops.View attachment 3058219
Posted originally on II. Marshall Malchow speculation. No clue if he’d be good or not since that Oregon money machine has no limit but would be another clear sign of intent by ND to make that happen.
His bio was also wiped but he is still showing on their official site
