The only way it'd be possible if there was only 1 other 1-loss team in the country (not including Rutgers, Louisville, Kent State of course).

A miraculous series of events would have to happen like:

Georgia Tech beating Georgia OR Auburn beating Alabama and then whoever lost that game beating the other. (like Georgia Tech beating Georgia but Georgia then beating Alabama OR Auburn beating Alabama but Alabama then beating Georgia)
Florida State beating Florida
Texas beating Kansas State
Oregon State beating Oregon

I think if all that happened and we lost a real close, controversial game to USC then we'd have a chance although then the national championship could be something like Florida State vs. Clemson/South Carolina winner.

A 1-loss Oregon team would get in over us as will the Florida State/Florida winner (assuming Florida St also win the ACC title game). The Alabama vs. Georiga winner also gets in over us assuming that winner finishes the regular season 12-1.

I disagree with everything you're saying here other than the 1 loss SEC champ getting in ahead of us. We'd get the invite over Oregon and K-State (at least we should, and I think we would). The coaches love FSU for some mysterious reason, but the computers hate them and love us. Even if they beat Florida and we lost to USC, that wouldn't be enough to help them in the computers, I think. As far as Florida getting a rematch with the Bama/UGA winner, I just don't see that happening again. Nobody outside of the southeast (with the least desirable TV markets and demographics in the country) wants to see another SEC/SEC championship game.

I'm not saying I'm SURE we could lose and still play in the NCG, but I do honestly think there is a fair shot.

I am not sure people realize how talented UGA is.

You mean how talented individuals on their team are? I think people realize that.

People also realize how much Aaron Murray and that offense sucks against just about any team with a good defense... and how they've only played two remotely legit teams all year and got blasted by one of them... Georgia is just an inverted USC with lots of talent and poor execution as a TEAM.

Much rather play them than Alabama.

Not to mention that they gave up 44 to Tennessee. Yeah, I'd take that matchup for sure.

Also, yes we could back in....

Florida State beats Florida, Oregon loses to Oregon State, Texas beats KSU.

Stanford wins PAC12, Oklahoma wins BIG12... having beaten both and being much stronger in the computers than Florida State we back in.

Besides the above scenario... there are a number of other murkier ones where we could get in. The bottom line is that we're stronger in the computers than anyone but Florida and have some really nice quality wins... three in the top 20.

I'd rather have Georgia. They would be a bit easier imo, and we have an 0-1 record all time against Georgia.

I think we fall behind Kstate if we lose and they win. That means Oregon would need to lose again, (one of UGA or Bama is in), Florida would have to get beat by FSU. Kstate needs to lose to Texas, and then we are STILL in a voter shootout with FSU...only because they'd have huge upward momentum, and we'd have downward momentum w/o a chance to play again. Loss to SC w/all their Ls hurts us bad...
