For those who live in Michigan or have traveled here, I am (ashamed to admit after living here my whole life) making my first trip up to the Upper Peninsula this October. A buddy and I are heading to Lambeau Field for MNF, and we decided to take the longer trek so we can explore the UP a bit.

We were planning on hitting pictured rocks for sure on Friday, and then the rest is up in the air. We don't have a TON of time, as we would like to be settled in Green Bay by Saturday so that we can watch ND/Pitt at a local bar.

With that being said, we will have Thursday evening and all day Friday to explore the UP. What do you guys recommend that we do? Any awesome hiking trails or sights you consider can't-miss? Thanks in advance, gents.

Make sure to eat a pasty or two whenever you're in the UP. Id suggest Muldoon's in Munising. If you're not into those you can try Eh Burger. That's pretty good. Corktown bar is decent little bar stop. More of a hole in the wall type. There are several tours, trails and little excursions you can do. A ton of different waterfalls. Just depends how long you have and how far you want to hike. I'd research that before you take off. That's about all I have for ya.

Haha, yup. Don't make it 6 hours north too often. Had a couple of friends go to Northern MI University. It's cool to go once or twice. Little far North for me. Beautiful in the Summer and early Fall though.

We head up to just east of the Mackinac bridge (rogers city area) to stay at my BIL's family place and fook me its like a 4.5 hour drive and its far enough for me

Nice little relaxing area up there. It's almost like going back in time a little bit. My Uncle just moved near the area about 3 years ago and he loves it.

Check out the Soo and your first stop should always be the Mystery Spot

most definitely, its pure isolation. still very humble homes up there too, not too many mansions or the likes. a lot of generational home owners.

Appreciate all of the feedback, fellas. This is a huge bucket list trip for me; first game at Lambeau, first time to the UP.

I think I can hit pictured rocks, Kitch Iti and Tahquamenon in a day and a half. I am going to stop in Escanaba for a beer and a pasty. I feel obligated after how many times I've watched the greatest Michigan based film of all time: Escanaba in Da Moonlight.

be aware of the Packers fandom up there, it definitely outnumbers Lions fans lol

We did the drive around Lake Michigan a couple summers ago and spent two days in Paradise to go to Tahquamenon Falls. If you're going to swing that far in, make sure to drive up to white fish point and see the great lakes shipwreck museum on Lake Superior to see the Edmund Fitzgerald's bell.

I was just golfing up in Brimley this past weekend at the Wild Bluff Golf Course. Absolutely gorgeous. Not sure if you are golfer or not but that is worth the trip. Might be too cold in October.

You, sir, are a Benedict Arnold.

I respectfully disagree. That would require me to have ever been a Lions fan. The only football teams I've ever cheered for are GB and ND. I've never cheered for or owned a single item of Lions paraphernalia.

You, on the other hand, should stop fighting this pointless war and come over to the good side. I can't imagine the pain to root for that franchise.

I'm a big time golfer and I've hit a lot of courses in the upper LP. Grand Traverse Resort, there's some really nice courses up in Oscoda where we stay from time to time. Just haven't had a chance to get north of the bridge. I will definitely keep that in mind. Won't be in the cards this trip, but I always like good course recommendations. Appreciate it.

Hey gents, leaving for the big trip tonight. Need one more bit of advice regarding the UP:

We are heading up to Pictured Rocks Friday afternoon, and I am blown away by how much there is to do there. We have a limited time allotment. We are hitting Tequamenon Falls on the way to PRocks, and need to be in Escanaba by Friday night to stay on course for GB by Saturday morning.

Anyone who has been to Pictured Rocks and is familiar, can you recommend a 3-4 hour hike with great views? Right now, we are planning on hitting a visitor center to seek advice from a Park Ranger or the like, but if anyone knows of a trail or two that could give us some awesome sights in this 4 hour or so time frame, that would save us that hassle.

Thanks again in advance, cheers.

You'd be better off with the boat tour with that time frame.
