Matt Freeman of ISD was telling one of the II guys that Faison was so gassed by the end of the game, that he asked out on that last drive. I think that’s why we saw Graham come in. It’s game 7 and they still haven’t developed even a few of the WR depth to rotate with the starters? With Faison & Greathouse likely gone after this year, that WR is gonna be a huge question mark.
Lil Fitzgerald seems like a DUDE to me. He’s probably not quite ready, but hard to believe he can’t play a role.

Updated Sagarin is out. We’re #2 to OSU and one spot above Miami.

http://sagarin.com/sports/cfsend.this

So of what I consider to be the big 4 most accurate power ratings systems, we’re still #1 on Dok Entropy and Teamrankings.com and #2 to OSU on FPI and Sagarin.

You can be disgusted by the performance but, this team isn’t a bunch of pretenders bc of one game.
Do the computers know our defense was caught off guard by the staple of BYU’s offense?

Truly the main thing that worries me about reaching that potential.

If anything, this validates the concerns about the coaches.

I truly think we need to move on from both coordinators after the year. Ash is non-negotiable to me, he is not the guy. Denbrock, I'm more flexible on him. If we get a mobile quarterback in the portal, I'm open to Denbrock. If Carr is coming back, we gotta move on. We can have Carr or we can have Denbrock. We cannot have both. Denbrock is clueless if he can't spam QB runs.

The thing that has me down more than any other thing is the appearance of physical deficiencies. They look slow and got outmuscled on the edges. Both sides of the ball
Exactly— this is item #3 behind Denbrock and Ash- which of the following players are physically better than the 2025 run in which they all contributed?

Also add in Greathouse and Faison

I really haven't seen much lately from either KVA, nor Shuler. I miss the beginning of the season when they were bringing violence....

I'd rather keep Denbrock and get a dual threat personally. That's not hate on CJ. Don't think his skill set matches the OC and WR talent.

Eh, not feeling it, loss still stings. BYU was very beatable, we shouldn't have left doubt and leave it up to the refs.

I'm sure someone posted this already, but just in case:

My son won his playoff semifinal yesterday to advance to his 10u league championship.

We watched ND when we got home… he laid in bed after the game was over and got really upset about ND losing their 16-game win streak.

He wasn’t mad that CJ Carr missed a couple of TD’s and fumbled a spike. He wasn’t mad that Chris Ash shat the bed. He was upset because he figured the players were going to be upset that they lost for the first time in 17 games.

I reminded him that he won the only game that actually mattered yesterday, and that the ND players will get back to work and be okay.

I wait all offseason to watch this team, and I love college football above most things… but an upset 10yo will bring you back to reality very quickly, and I needed it last night.

(Denbrock has got to get his shit together; Ash failed basically the whole game; ND will never again get a friendly call in crunch time as long as they are independent, so they truly need to Leave No Doubt moving forward. The late-game officiating benefiting the conference member when playing ND is a legit pattern and there is no incentive for any conference crew to NOT fuck ND over at every turn.)

Are there any reasons why we can't like...hire an independent group of refs to handle some of our games? Didn't we used to have like...ACC for home games on the field, and ACC in the replay booth for away games? I don't know if those are still both true.

I finally brought myself to reading some of these posts. It was mostly as expected. Last night pissed me off and today has been difficult so trust me, I get it. ND is the better team and should have won. ND might be the best team in the country and found a way to blow it (with some assistance of course).
Fortunately, the most important thing is being overlooked- ND is sitting at #4 in the AP poll and is in line to not only be in the playoffs, but possibly have a bye! There are 4 undefeated teams after week 7, and that will certainly be changing in the coming weeks. If we win out, and this is our WTF game, then maybe u guys will finally be able to look back at this game and realize that going 15-0 is incredibly difficult.
Perfect example is 2024 OSU losing to Michigan at Thanksgiving and then coming back in the CFP as a whole different team to win it all in January 2025.

That's what still bothers me about MF. I appreciate the respect for and deference to Jim Tressel, but I can't get this image out of my head of MF talking with JT and saying "that sounds like a wonderful option for our new..."

Come on MF, go find some up and coming coordinators who are innovating and really killing it. Golden somehow worked as DC but he was successful as Linebackers coach after his college HC stint so was still kind of that up and coming coach looking for an NFL DC gig at some point. (And the guys loved him!)

I've always felt he could have done better with Mike Brown as WR coach as well. I know he likes to move fast (it's even more important with the short TP and getting the right guys), BUT I just think he and people who are on top of up and coming coaches on his staff can take a little more time and do better.

At some point, older coordinators who aren't cutting it will affect HS recruiting and likely TP acquisitions.

ND is now the stand alone favo
  • Traore- did you want to play tonight? Why act like a thug and blatantly late hit the quarterback?
  • Moore- if you’re hurt, get off the field. You looked like you were stuck in mud and hurt your draft stock
  • Ash—it’s too damn complicated and you leave the middle of the field open on their final touchdown with a rookie covering their best receiver? We’ve been diced up the middle all year. Shuler, who appears hurt or something else going on, should not be blitzing
  • Denbrock- it’s too predictable. Slot fade does not work 90% of game with small, average speed receivers. Where is the pin and pull? Play- action? Screen game?
  • I don’t know who to blame for substitutions but the same 3 receivers should not play nearly every snap with the low oxygen levels and wasted reps for run blocking. Obviously, Walton should get more carries.
  • Freeman- dude you got to get into the game. Quit jotting notes. Get in your coordinators’ faces. Bitch at the refs when calls are close like the snap play and the final play.
  • Carr- you got to quit staring down your target
  • Landow- we do not show any explosiveness nor power. Our most stand out player is a freshman running back whose dad is a powerlifting coach. No one has developed athletically in 3 years. Where the heck was the inside knowledge on acclimatization from your time in Colorado?

Can we beat Miami? Absolutely. But not playing like we did last night
Quit the hype- walk the walk- and get ready for the final 5 games
Drop the "thug" shit. It reeks.

Agree with 90% of the rest. First I seen mention of Freeman's note taking. Like wtf dude. Not the time. Not the place. Being distracted in-game & adding to his list for Monday's grocery run is a bad f*g look

What happened officiating-wise on Little Giants?

:00 on the play clock
I thought that was the fake field goal @Mich St. The fake succeeded because a blocker ran downfield and tackled two defenders.

Also:

1964: Phantom Hold @Southern Cal
1990: Phantom Clip in the Orange Bowl
2004: 100 yards of phantom PI vs Pitt.
2009: about 17 free points for Michigan on phantom penalties

Ash has been shadowed by the Denbrock-bashing. It was not a horrible defense effort. But we gave up the go-ahead TD because Ash brought the house on 3rd and goal, after a false start. BYU will always kick the tying fg if they fail so a sack had the same value as an incompletion. The entire bar heard me screaming even before the pass was thrown.
