As far as a potential return to the league goes, are BVG's schemes valued in the NFL? Would they work well?

Admittedly, I don't watch the pro game very closely.

His pass blitzing is fairly common, especially with those 1 down linemen formations with anyone rushing/dropping.

it looks like he bases his run fits out of a cover 3/cover 1 alot, which seems sorta standard, but my defensive eye isn't very good so I won't make an opinion on that.

Figures we'd hire a DC that fails miserably at ND then falls up to an NFL gig lol #kiffening

Wisconsin has zero defensive talent but they tackle, they play fast, and they look 100 times better than us. I'm getting more disgusted by BVG from watching just normal teams play defense.

Wisconsin has a handful of 4 star guys on their 2-deep. Zero talent is a bit of an exaggeration.

I'll be blatantly honest here. Wisconsin's offense is helping their defense out in a big way today. They're doing what we should have been doing all along. Win TOP. Instead, Michigan State holds onto the ball for 40 minutes and wears our already pretty bad defense down.

Wisconsin has turned the tables. They control the ball, they control the tempo and MSU can't use their grating power ball game to wear them out on D. Of course, Wisconsin can do it a lot better than us, since they're a natural power run offense by nature and Bullough is out for Sparty.

I agree this is an ideal gameplan, however our Oline as a whole could not control the line of scrimmage against the MSU front 7. Theu won the point of attack and then we got down big leaving no choice but to air it out.

DE Chikwe Obasih (2013)
OLB Vince Beigel (2012)
NG Garrett Rand (2016)
SS Arrington Farrar (2015)

So over 5 years, theses are their best defensive players:

DE Chikwe Obasih (2013)= .88 rating on 247
OLB Vince Beigel (2012)= .93 rating on 247
SS Arrington Farrar (2015)= .89 rating on 247
NG Garrett Rand (2016)= .92 rating on 247

Thanks for posting, you made my point better than I did. They have zero talent on defense.

Things are much more difficult for Michigan St. when you're facing coaches who aren't incompetent.

It's pretty frustrating when the position you recruit best is struggling to punch the other team's front in the mouth. Meanwhile, Wisconsin just keeps grinding it out and getting their defense quality blows. They're not smoking MSU's defense by any means, but they're doing just enough to keep the ball out of MSU's hands and forcing them out of their comfort zone. Sparty is at their best when they can set the tone and physicality. If they can grind it out, they can beat you. They can't do that now, because they've been playing from behind all game, so now O'Connor has to dig them out.

Remember that offense that put 36 on us last week?

They are awful.

Wisconsin just held them to 6. Fire this fool.

Maybe 2.34% talent, anyway. Give them some credit ;)

He has to go. I have no doubt the guy knows defense, but he has failed and in a bad way

Okay, if BVG is still employed next week, regardless of what happens the rest of this game, I'm officially on board with firing BK with him. Dump this season and offer top ten money to Tom Herman.

Enough is enough, BK needs to jump the BVG ship or go down with it,....

Yeah after the UT disaster my thought was...that they need to have continuity for the season...but this defense is so bad, it really can't get worse. Give me an xbox controller and I'll call vanilla D these boys can understand
