Sure. But if Kelly wins a title, get ready for a constant barrage from the media and opposing coaches of 'after toiling for over a decade at Notre Dame, Brian Kelly finally cashes in at LSU.".
Well he definitely cashed in!!! LOL. I think hinself got a can't lose deal out of LSU.

A better title shot, more than the money or anything else, is why BK left (IMO).

The guy has made a ton of money, and won a ton of games. He’s coached on the biggest stage, and made one of the sport’s premiere programs matter again. The only thing he hasn’t done as a football coach is win a national championship. And it’s not hard to envision him looking the situation over and deciding it would be easier at LSU than Notre Dame. Les Fucking Miles won a title at LSU.

Which is why BK winning a title at LSU would be bad for Notre Dame. It would prove him right.

Agreed except the last part.
It is already basically fact that LSU is an easier school to win a natty at. They will do whatever it takes including probably bend rules etc.

The Last three HC at LSU won National Championships. If Kelly wins one, I'm not sure what that proves. It's going to prove a hell of a lot more if he's the first LSU HC that doesn't win one.

That’s a good point.
Yea but you know what the media will say. It will be positive about BK and LSU and how he was held back from his Natty at ND. But of course, BK winning a Natty means Saban and Smart won't be winning one....that will be tough.

I would also say this: Les Miles won at LSU during the BCS era with a regular season two loss team. Because a two loss SEC is just sooooooo good compared to the rest of the field. His 2011 team that lost to Bama was miles (bazing!) better than his title team.

I think Orgeron doesn't get enough credit, but I can also admit without hesitation that his championship rests on Joe Burrow leaving Ohio State more than just about anything else.

And of course, before both them at LSU, it was St. Nicholas.

Regardless of all of this, imagine Kelly wins more games at ND than any other HC but no title and he goes to LSU only to be the HC that breaks this streak of HC that won a title. That's quite a legacy he leaves as far as I'm concerned.

BK is probably gonna be Jerry Sloan (Utah Jazz) and all the others like him when it ends.

Good coach with a great team, that never made it over the hump because a dynasty across the way (Georgia/Bama) was simply better during those prime years.

Yea he is setting himself up to either prove his naysayers wrong or that he was merely a "good HC" and not a great one.

The problem is for Kelly (and Freeman) that Kirby and Saban are recruiting at a whole different level and they have the confidence of having won it all before. I suppose the real heat will eventually be on Ryan Day.

Day keeps losing to Harbaugh and he's got in conference issues to handle before he worries about his place nationally.

To be fair to Les and LSU that year, they had two losses...both in triple overtime. And that was a wild year where the only 1-loss teams were Ohio State and it looks like...Hawaii.

Its not like they got gifted a shot at the championship game.

Ditto that! You do have to give the ass-wipe credit, he was able to develop a Cajun accent within a couple of days of getting to Baton Rouge! That fake bastard LOL!
I assure you that was no “Cajun accent.” Sure, you have plenty there with Baton Rouge being the state capital and harboring the university, but it isn’t really Cajun territory at all.

I thought that was entirely overblown too. But what do I know? You got some funny jokes out of it at least.

I'm not too sure if he will. I expect to be contending for the Playoffs, especially given its expansion, but I don't know if he'll win one. The conference, top-to-bottom, is so, so challenging. Even the middle-tier teams (South Carolina, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Arkansas, etc.) are tough and you've got to be focused and prepared every week.

What Kirby is doing speaks for itself. Saban doesn't appear to be slowing down anytime soon. Auburn just got better with the hire of Freeze. Tennessee has finally appeared to have revitalized their program. Even A&M, while I think Jimbo is largely a poor coach, has absolutely loaded with 5* talent thanks to their lucrative NIL program.

Oh yeah, Texas and Oklahoma are now joining board. Straight murderer's row.

However, what BK did last year (winning the West) was extremely impressive given the state of the program that Orgeron left it in. I believe we had less than 40 scholarship athletes on the roster.

That 2007 team was no way better than the 2011 team. The 2005 and 2006 LSU teams were honestly probably the best teams Miles' had. 2005 was unfortunate due to Katrina. 2006 received a royal screw job at Auburn and just had a terrible, sloppy, off day at Florida. Said another way, Les Miles, in typical Les Miles' fashion, botched those.

It sucks that in 2011, LSU beat the mess out of Oregon, West Virginia, Florida, Tennessee, Auburn, Arkansas, and Georgia. They also beat Alabama, in Tuscaloosa, in a physical slugfest; however, it lost its meaning when the outcome is wholly disregarded and the loser is awarded a mulligan...:sneaky:

He's 1-2 against Harbaugh and those are his only two conference losses since he took over the program. Even with that, he's nationally relevant.

I'd take his problems right now in a second without thinking twice.

I can’t even imagine picking up the pieces left behind by Ed O, 2 seasons removed from coaching one of the best college football teams of all time.

In before:

“BUt MuH fOrTY scHOlarShips,” which has already been throughly debunked by Grey through multiple articles.

Well BK did better than MF - who had started with a much, much better and more stable team to start with (the team BK handed him). Winning the SEC West was impressive.

Training wheels are off MF.... time to get back into the Top 10. Anything more than 3 losses this year will not be good.

Recruiting rankings last 5 years. Did Kelly really do a great job, or what was expected?

Um my comment was about performance of his 2022 LSU team vs our teams efforts this last season.
