Maybe. The past three coaches did win NCs there — namely, Les Miles and Ed Orgeron. Woof. If they got one and Kelly doesn’t …. Ouch. 😂I still contend that BK left entirely for the giant long term contract that would get him to retirement.
The stuff about "better chance to win a national championship" was just the excuse he created so he had an answer on why he left Notre Dame.

I agree. I always pull for and defended ND. The same old conversation was that they’d play a soft schedule, get into the Playoffs, and get smoked by Alabama. Unless you were a few teams, Alabama was smoking everyone …. That’s doesn’t negate what Notre Dame did or achieved and didn’t mean they weren’t worthy of a top 5 ranking.I don't like the implication that there is some perceived flaw with Notre Dame. His last four years at ND we finished the regular season in the top 5 three times. Now if the headline was "LSU concerned that Notre Dame elevated Brian Kelly above his level of ability" I could get on board with it.
Including the teams they played in the championship. But really the key to Kelly is that he needs time (and forgiveness) to build consistency and he needs an elite coaching staff. Until he gets his Diaco-Elko-Lea he's going to struggle.I agree. I always pull for and defended ND. Which hopefully Freeman will get with Golden and Denbrock.Including the teams they played in the championship. But really the key to Kelly is that he needs time (and forgiveness) to build consistency and he needs an elite coaching staff. Until he gets his Diaco-Elko-Lea he's going to struggle.
This isn't a huge knock on him, most great coaches need this. Dabo had to have his forgiveable years before Clemson sniffed a championship, and it wouldn't have happened without Elliott and Venables. Kirby Smart needed Lanning and Monken to get over the hump and his first season UGA had 5 losses. Jimbo Fischer had 10 losses at FSU before the championship run and he had a first year DC in Jeremy Pruitt to help him win it.
It rubbed me the wrong way when he was here and it sure as shit rubs me the wrong way that now he is gone and our fanbase is jumping into the narrative. Disgusting.Nailed it. In no scenario is someone like Brian Kelly supposed to know what wind loads a scissor lift is rated for. He is not a "competent person."
The University is absolutely culpable for what happened, but the "Brian Kelly killed a kid" thing always rubbed me the wrong way.
You keep talking like this and I might have to start liking you....I agree. I always pull for and defended ND. I contend that BK never really bought into ND, had 1 foot out the door beginning in year 3, and was looking for the first good opportunity to bail after rebuilding his reputation after his disastrous 2016 season.I still contend that BK left entirely for the giant long term contract that would get him to retirement.

I remember taking the position that if ND was going to force his assistant coaches down his throat they should just move on with a new head coach. It all worked out better than I imagined (partly because the 2016 team was much better than their record) but I wouldn't be surprised if the events of that offseason stuck in his craw.I contend that BK never really bought into ND, had 1 foot out the door beginning in year 3, and was looking for the first good opportunity to bail after rebuilding his reputation after his disastrous 2016 season.
ND was willing to pay him. He just didn't want to stick around ND.
It was both.I still contend that BK left entirely for the giant long term contract that would get him to retirement.

His "Notre Dame" salary may have only been $2M, but his compensation was structured in a way that other outside revenue was part of the compensation package. I'm confident that he was at least $5M combined, but I don't know if anyone knows for sure since ND doesn't have to disclose. It was both.
He was making $2M a year at ND or so right? I can retire on that.
But... but... he's worth soooo much money, dollars, pennies, cents.... nonsense... lolIt is crazy how soft LSU has gotten under BK.
It’s about the alignmentIt is crazy how soft LSU has gotten under BK.
Ok now... let's not get into the Weis argument .......It's not his fault his players aren't smart. ...
