I'm sorry if this is terribly morbid and somehow offensive, but in the world we live in, with big athletic events becoming targets for terrorism, does anybody worry about a tragedy like this happening at a place like Notre Dame? Being associated with the Catholic Church could make it a target for a lot of hatred in the world. It may also appeal to the cowards who do these types of things since ND has such a large following and fills stadiums.

Again, sorry if anyone finds this offensive or it crosses any lines. I am not saying that Muslims would be behind any such attack (or that any were involved in this one), just any person/group looking to make a statement.

Hopefully nothing like this ever happens again. I assume the procedure of getting checked to get into stadiums will probably change as a result of this.

Pretty sure South Bend Indiana isn't a high priority target. I would be shocked if anyone with a terrorist mindset knows what Notre Dame even is, let alone represents.

GA thrift shop worker hospitalized after explosion

ATLANTA — Atlanta fire department officials say a thrift shop employee has been hospitalized with burns after a package exploded.
Atlanta Fire Department Captain Marian McDaniel says the worker was opening the package when it apparently exploded. McDaniel says the unidentified worker was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with burns to the hands and legs.
Authorities are investigating the incident, and additional details were not immediately available.
Police and fire officials remained on the scene Tuesday afternoon

Don't know if related but interesting. Not to take away from the Boston tragedy.

IMO, terrorists don't really care what teams are playing. Wherever large groups of people congregate, could be considered a target. All they care about is inflicting as much damage possible and killing as many people as they can in the process.

A movie called "Black Sunday" was released quite a few years ago. It dealt with a terrorist attack at the Super Bowl. That film is just as relevant today as it was back then.

Now there has been a letter sent to a Senator from Mississippi which has tested positive 3 different times for Ricin.

It appears that we are back at war. The question is with whom?

They care more about sending a message and causing psychological torment & chaos. The guy who did this wants to cause chaos in Boston and everywhere.

There's nobody to go to war with. If this was someone from another country we're probably murdering people with drone strikes there already.

What happened in Boston is no where near the casualties/injuries inflicted on innocents in our drone war. If this is how we feel about one event, imagine living in a country where this could happen 50 times or more a year. I can understand why they would, to put it mildly, dislike us.

and This

Sad to hear, read, and view what I have over the last day +. Many of us have children, and I'm sure we can all agree that this isn't the type of world we want them to grow up and live in. Dealing with the loss of a loved on is difficult enough when its known to be near, but the thought of dealing with it in the circumstances such as these, is horrifying. Personally, losing a limb as many of them did, would be worse. My thoughts are not only with the families of all the victims, but with anyone with any connection to this tragic situation.

Your a dick. Spew that **** in another thread. Its not that people disagree with you, its that this isn't the place. Show some respect to the people involved with this tragedy.

I work a block from where this happened, and I know dozens of people that were within a hundred yards of the explosions. All of the garbage that has been put out there by Alex Jones and his idiot followers is categorically false. The media is reporting exactly what happened.

I would be very surprised if Muslim extremists were unaware of the most famous Catholic University in the world, and the popularity of their football team, right in the heart of the Great Satan.

I positive repped you and here is what I said:
I will give you a rep for your posting because I like Jeff Daniels, and the speech is awesome. But when twenty people try to get you to stop. Stop. Go out and start your own thread. People will respond. This is a thread for dealing with tragedy.
There are bigger problems to deal with. But this thread is only for greif and respect, prayers and love.
