Beat Stanford.
The bowl experts are saying the Stanford game doesn’t matter. Win or lose, we’re most likely headed for the camping world bowl. This Stanford game is about as low stakes as a game can get at ND.
Oh great, so this is Stanford's Super Bowl and it's essentially meaningless for us? Dream scenario.
Haha, this is so cute.
Camping World Bowl . . .
Just screams football.
Only twigs in the wind.
I respect what the team did after playing like skunks in Ann Arbor,
but is the Camping World bowl pretty much equivalent to the Blockbuster Bowl?
Damn... I hope they have Clemson circled twice next year, because the ceiling this season is tents.

Would you rather us be playing a 9-2 Stanford team with hops of winning the PAC 12 and making a playoff push?

Personally, I would. Stanford is dangerous no matter what their record is. If we happen to lose I’d rather their record was better. But, I just really want the W and a big bowl win. 11 wins would be great.
Yes. If Stanford were 9-2 with a shot to win the PAC-12, beating them would help us make a better bowl game. We have no impressive wins this year. They’d be one.

Fine. We have no wins that appear to be impressing the Playoff Committee.
Closing out the season on the road beating a 9-2 Stanford team that’s presumably ranked 10-15 and going to the PAC 12 title game would - should? - be that sort of impressive win. More than mid-season home victories over teams that are probably better than they looked at the time.
You may be looking at this wrong. As someone touched on before, the NY6 bowls are basically a consolation prize for teams ranked 5-12 that didn't make the playoff. The fact that they have more cachet than others is basically just a holdover from the old BCS system. The Camping World Bowl is on 12/28, the same day as the first round of the Playoffs (Peach and Fiesta Bowls). So lots of people will be settling in for a long day of CFB, including our likely bowl game.
We've got an opportunity to finish 11-2 with a solid bowl victory, which is something ND hasn't managed since Holtz left. That would be huge for our recruiting momentum, and I'm legitimately excited for it. Let's not overlook that just because the bowl is sponsored by Camping World.
Correct, and I have my opinions on why that might be but also willing to understand there are varying degrees of impressive. With that said, if ND's ranked wins are not impressive because the teams weren't ranked high enough then what impressive wins does Utah have? Or Baylor? Florida?
Bowl prediction thread.Beat Stanford.
For the record, I'm not saying that Auburn is an impressive win (though it is a better win than we have currently), but the committee does view it as a big win.
Florida beat Auburn, who the committee loves. The committee has an inordinate amount of love for Auburn and Penn St.
Agree with this. Though if Bama crushes Auburn then I would say ND’s won over USC is equal to Florida’s win over Auburn.
I would add they have an inordinate amount of love for Oregon and Utah along with the two you mentioned.
Read an article that the Citrus could be coming back into play for us since Penn State stayed ahead of Florida in the most recent rankings. This would require 2 SEC teams in the playoffs. The next one outside of the top 4 would then be taken by the Sugar Bowl. Since PSU would be ahead of the next SEC team after that, the Orange would take them and when the Orange takes a Big 10 team, the Citrus takes an ACC team. We would probably play Florida or Auburn if we are that team.
This would be the most ND finish to the season possible, so yes. We would go from FAVORABLE Orange, Cotton, or Camping World Bowl matchup to SEC matchup against two teams very capable of giving our one-ish dimensional offense fits.
