5-7 teams' responses to possible bowl offers

NCAA approves process for picking 5-7 bowl teams

In a release announcing the decision, the NCAA listed seven five-win teams with APRs high enough to qualify for consideration: Nebraska (985), Kansas State (976), Missouri (976), Minnesota (975), San Jose State (975), Illinois (973) and Rice (973).

Unlike Missouri, 5-7 Nebraska will jump at opportunity to go bowling

Kansas State's win makes them the 76th bowl eligible team. Texas's win makes them 5~7. Their APR is 958, though, too low to get an invitation. Four 5~7 teams will go to bowls.

This is a great opportunity. We're a top 10 team in the country, we can play with anyone. No one wanted to play LSU last year neither. I'm pumped for this, I think our kids are going to play great.

This will be a great match-up. I think it comes down to which team picks up the pieces better after a disappointing finish to the regular season and handles the distraction of those annoucing for the NFL. I would love to see the Irish kick Urbie in the nuts.

If you spend all year wanting your team to compete for the NC, then you can't dread OSU.

This is the best possible matchup as far as looking like a solid team at the end of the year. We want to beat the best and I like the idea of beating OSU over Iowa or even worse... Houston.

Nebraska and Minnesota did not play FCS games. Their conference records were 3-5 and 2-6, respectively.

OSU is nothing to lose sleep over

^This Not scared of OSU. Their ranking all season was based off being "Defending NC" and they have not looked good all year. Will definitely be tougher with JT behind center but very beatable if we can improve our RZ offense. Kelly did very good preparing for LSU and I believe he will do the same here. Like drayer said, if you want to play for a NC then you should be looking forward to this game.

LSU had the best defense in the SEC last year and the best running back in the country, things turned out okay in that game. And I think you'll see Jaylon on cry baby Zeke, not Joe

Yeah but OSU has a better quarterback than whoever LSU put out there, and we can try and put Jaylon on him but theyre gonna try and scheme against him and run away from him. No doubt theyll try and exploit Schmidt. Im not saying we dont have a chance we can definitely beat OSU. But our track record in big bowl games isnt good, its gonna take some real solid play defensively.

While I agree with this, history only matters since this Kelly has been here. How other coaches performed has no bearing on this staff's ability to prepare the team. Kelly did well last year when we were bigger underdogs and no reason to think he can't do it again. Only the NC against Alabama was bad and there were several distractions that game...plus one of the best Alabama teams I have seen.

Yeah i pretty much agree with that. I still have some PTSD from our BCS bowls against OSU, LSU, and Bama. I have more faith in kelly, im excited about this game
