So much Boise hate... Rather them win than another 1 loss team again.. playoffs are needed... plus Boise winning this year will get the MWC a BCS auto bid

If the MWC gets an auto bid it would hurt the chances for a playoff, considering all the silly "BCS Busters" would no longer be "BCS Busters".

But the MWC won't get it anyway, becuase they lost Utah and BYU.

Another thing you have to think about is the big BCS teams don't wanna play Boise cause they keep getting beat and looking like fools. Once the BCS is out of the picture everyone will be back on a level playing field.

I much prefer to see Boise St. play for NC then one of the dozens of "big conference" schools who chose to play in a pillow-fight this weekend.

It sucks that Boise States not in a better conference, but they are the real deal. They lined up the best out of conference teams who had the nuts to take them on...if they win out lets see what they can do against the Irish, I mean whoever else deserves to be in the NC game.

Has anyone seen Pat Forde on Twitter? The dude has some sort of sexual relationship with Boise State.

And keep in mind, I HATE Time Tebow. With a passion that exceeds all rational explanations.

No, teams didn't want to travel to Boise to play Boise. That was the problem a few years back and still is mostly. Boise wasn't willing to travel, why schedule OOC game and travel to play them one time when you can schedule another team that is willing to come to your house.

Boise has been to Oregon, TCU twice in the past 2 years, and tonight a virtual away game vs VT. And it's not their fault they are in one of the worst conferences, MWC finally gave them the invite this year.

Especially if that team is 1-AA... seriously though, that goes against everything I've heard: Boise's been doing whatever they can to get big ticket games and almost nobody wanted to risk taking them up. Too little reward and too big of a risk.

Poor playcalling.. 2nd and 8 why run a QB keeper coming down into the 2min mark when you know Boise was getting pressure with their front 4. Terrible playcalling is what killed V Tech near the end. They went to damn conservative.

True. The only upside to the loss is that it's a smack in the face of all the SEC morons out there who would've used a VT win to tout Alabama some more - well, that and Ole Miss pooping the bed on Saturday.

Fuck Boise St. They beat VA Tech, but it's easy to get up for one or two games a year...

Which is why I say ND's schedule goes beyond stupid and into suicidal for TV ranking purposes, or ego puposes. YOU CAN'T SCHEDULE THE BEST EVERY WEEK AND EXPECT TO COME OUT UNSCATHED. Looking ahead at future ND schedules, I see ND is continuing with the stupidity of scheduling and further depleting any hope of an NC.

Arrogance? Greed?

And when ND dumb down their schedule under Kevin White, what happen? Blown out in bowl games.

I mean, NDs schedule is tough but the best every week? We essentially play a big ten schedule, trading out Ohio State for USC at the top. No doubt these first 6 weeks are tough and offer little in the way of warm-up time and our normal "softies" like the service schools are much tougher than most Big schools fillers, but its a little extreme to say we play the best.

Much more challenging for the Irish is the fact that every team brings THEIR best when the Irish are on the schedule. Michigan, Mich St, Navy and even USC all routinely find a way to turn it up to 11 for Notre Dame day.

Show me the schedule where ND played a dumbed down schedule.

I think the only way you could say that is if you compared it to the late 80s when they were playing Miami; FSU; BYU and BC (who were at their peaks) and all the Big Ten was a legitimate best league in the country candidate.

No it's not. Follow it up with BC, Utah, Pitt, Stanford...

It ain't easy being green. Agree that it would be a better strategy to schedule a handful of big games and a bunch of pillow fights, but we are ND and sometimes we have to live with the burden of doing things not just well, but right.

Also this years schedule is only ridiculous-level hard because Pitt, Stanford, Navy, and maybe Utah are all much much better than anyone thought they'd be when the schedule was made. I think this schedule looked rather weak when it was first announced.

wow great game.

I knew Moore was good but i had no idea Taylor was that good. He really impressed me in the game. Boise St deserves to be a top 10 team

The uni's were whatever but VTech's helmets in that black primer polish look sick

Helmets were the unsung hero of the game, I thought Boise's looked pretty darn good too.

Boise State is a smart program. They play games during the week and get national television coverage. They play in a weak conference but manage to schedule a tough game at the start of the season. Remember, they destroyed Oregon last year. They also play Oregon State this year. They beat VT last night in a "neutral site" game held right next door to VT. This team is for real. It is a program right now. Teams won't schedule them and we know why. People can keep this debate of their schedule weakness, it's easy to get up for 2 games a year, blah blah blah, but the truth is that Boise State is f-ing good. They are coached at a superior level with players who were low level recruits. If they played in the SEC, with Petersen as coach, they would get SEC level talent. (If you want to play hypotheticals, we can go all day.) At the end of the discussion, Boise does one thing: win.

i say give them a shot for two reasons.

1) if they win the NC it will prove to everyone that they can compete with anyone, and the arguement "any team can get up for just one game" isn't a good arguement otherwise every poor team that plays a "top team" would be better competition for them because they should be able to "get up" for that game. but as we all see they destroy them, just look at Oregon who put 72 on New Mexico.

2) if they get destroyed in the NC then it proves that no Non BCS team should be considered for the NC until they join a "real" conference

but this is only the beginning of the season and one game, who knows what the seasons holds for BSU

Give me a break!! No they don't other than Fresno and Oregon St, it's a cake walk for Boise.
Look I'm no Boise fan but you are definitely underestimating their schedule. Dont fall into the trap of names from the past with these other schools. My point is not all the rhetoric about Boise in particular its that I do not want tv people telling a school they cant play for a national championship with 1 or no losses. Their opinion should be just that, opinion, and its not because it carries too much weight.

What???? VT is 0-1 and dropped to 13th in AP Polls. I didn't think VT looked that great. Sloppy and besides the front D line pretty weak!! Had some big STUPID penalties too. Not ready to jump on the BS band wagon yet. Just because they beat an overrated number 10 team in polls.

I thought VT looked legit. Their QB was good, definite dual threat. Their defense was fast and hit hard. A little sloppy for sure, but so are most teams on opening day. VT should be in the BCS discussion come the end of the year. If not, this win will definitely lose its luster for Boise State as the season plays out.
