Honestly, what does it take to give Quinn a chance?

anderson had a huge week last week in a blowout win over the defending super bowl champs on monday night football. Management spent all summer saying Anderson was the guy. No way he gets yanked after a performance last week. He needs several consecutive bad games before they would look at BQ.

He had one good game this year. ONE. Thats all that needs to be said. Anderson went 14 for 37 for 138 yards. Thats a 3.7 avg. In the first half he was aweful. He was something like 5 for 21 in the first half.

Oh and not to mention the fights with the players. There was no reason for the pushing match between Anderson and Vickers out on the field.

david,

You said it.

I'm a Redskin fan so saw the whole game. And man do I agree. I watched the game from Obamaholic DC. Anderson threw so many bad balls it was ridiculous. It was like watching George Bush make foreign policy decisions. (DC inside baseball. Sorry.)

But yeah, when you include the multiple bat downs that showed Anderson does not have the field sense to properly arc the ball, I really thought Brady would start the second half.

A ton of coaches have gotten fired not because they tried to, but because they were just too stubborn to admit a personnel mistake. He better start looking for D-Coordinator jobs soon.

SteveM

P.S. Brady Quinn has the tools, smarts and work ethic to be another Tom Brady. I hope he gets a chance to demonstrate that (or prove me an idiot) soon.

The problem was.............Cleveland was in the game, the whole game. Anderson is the starter for a reason. No good coach is going to pull his starter and put in his backup, barring injury, while his team is still in the game. I would not be at all surprised to see Quinn named the starter by the end of the season. But don't look for a coach who is 7-10 points down to pull a healthy starting quarterback.

kmoose,

Why not? You see his stats? He stinks. If Romeo had a brain, he'd realize that if his quarterback doesn't win, he (Romeo) is gone. And he wouldn't let pride take him down by playing Anderson when he's shown that except for one game, he can't get it done.

That kind of clarity will induce all kinds of "creative, out of the box thinking".

Sorta like no atheists in fox holes.

I just read that the Vikings offered (2) first round picks for Quinn and the Browns said NO. Either the Browns are the dumbest team in the NFL or Quinn is the future.

Browns reject Vikings' offer for Quinn Word is the Vikings offered the Browns their 2009 and 2010 first-round draft picks for quarterback Brady Quinn, but Cleveland, after consideration, said no thanks. Economically, the deal makes sense for the Vikings in that Quinn, who is under contract for three more years after this season, already has been paid his signing bonus. And the Vikings wouldn't have to spend on the draft picks. With the trading deadline recently passed, the deal could be resurrected after the season. If the Browns won't relent on Quinn, they might deal QB Derek Anderson to Minnesota.

jeremy,

i think it is that the browns are stupid.

one of two things need to be happening.

either Savage told Romeo that Anderson is the QB until he says to change. or Romeo is sick of being in Cleveland, and wants to be fired.

KMOOSE-

i dont care if its 0-0 after the first half. if the QB cannot move the ball, you have to try something different. even if its go no huddle just to try to get something going.

the Browns were trying not to lose the game, what they should have been doing was trying to WIN the game.

they (coaches) were just trying to keep it close, hopeing they could win.

Romeo does not want to be fired. In fact While I was studying him on the sideline yesterday I believe I have deduced the problem. He certainly does not want to lose his job, the problem is that the only thing going through his head on the sidelines is the Five dollar footlong commercial for subway. I think if you even look closely on HD you can see his arms and hands going through the footlong motion.

I never laughed so hard when I saw that Crennel was named coach of the week two weeks ago.
Although I think I felt more like crying.

I just talked to some people from Cleveland and apparently everybody is fed up with Romeo and word on the street is that Bill Cowher just got a house in Cleveland...

This is a guy who made the Pro Bowl last year. You don't bench a Pro Bowler when you still have a realistic shot of winning the game. I know all about the second half of the season, last year, being very mediocre for Anderson, but he obviously is capable of putting up big numbers when he gets hot. I'd like to see Quinn start just as much as anyone else. But I can also understand the logic of leaving Anderson in, in a close game.

I also think Crennel knows that he can justify keeping his job, even if Anderson stinks. He can claim that he had to give his Pro Bowl QB a chance to turn it around. Now, if Quinn comes in, and they still stink? THAT will be the kiss of death for Romeo. But even then..........I grew up in Canton, OH (about 50 miles south of Cleveland), and I know Browns' fans are pretty football savvy fans. With all of the injuries that the Browns have had, this year, Browns fans are smart enough to know that they really don't know how good a team this is.

I'm sorry man, I disagree. He was an alternate. He only went because Tom Brady decided not to go. By the way he played like crap in the game, in a game that is suppose to make the QB look better. I forget all the rules but I know there are specific rules that defences must follow.

And yet, if Brady Quinn, or any other former Golden Domer for that matter, were named to the Pro Bowl as an injury replacement, we would all be here talking about what a great accomplishment it was. I get that you are frustrated at Quinn not starting, while Anderson is struggling. But, being a Browns fan, you should be used to frustration. ;)

Yeah it's the truth, and thats the worst part I'm sick of all my favorite teams sucking. The Browns could have a good, maybe a great team, but they are by far underacheving. (sp) I just think its time to send a message to the other players, or just Braylon Edwards, that if they do not start playing up to their potential then its time to move on.

Im not saying that Brady is the answer for the Browns, I would love it if he was, but they can't play any worse if Brady was in instead of the QB we have now.

If Brady plays 50 percent of the snaps, he's due $9 mil in bonus caaash... With Derek's big contract, Savage isn't about to admit his mistake in re-signing D-isaster A-rea and give Brady his dough on top of it. It makes both he and Fatman look even more incompetent than they already do. Brady will see the field this year, but probably not until the season is no longer in doubt and he's not due all that money.

I am begining to see what you are talking about HCTI, but why wait until the season is a bust. Do you really think DA can lead us anywhere this season. I'm not saying Brady can, but maybe it will help the whole team, maybe fix the arguing, and maybe bring this team back together.

IMO Fat@$$ has lost control of the team. Its obvious through the fighting on the field.

Has anyone else noticed that when DA throw as pick or an incomplete pass in the direction of Windslow he emediatly come off the field and right over to talk to Brady. Now I know that K2 is really needs to grow up now but I think that shows that we has given up on DA.

Maybe I'm wrong. I really hope I am. I'm just sick of seeing this team fail, and since its the NFL most of the blame falls on the QB. I'm just saying what could a change hurt. Savage and Fatty should swallow their pride. They messed up when they resigned DA. Be men and admit it.

Not me kmoose. I'd be calling him a dope for not feigning an injury like the other guys to escape from having to compete in that stinkiest of all all-star games.

I'm willing to become a casual fan of the Browns for Brady's sake. They obviously aren't giving him the chance so far. Jamarcus Russell is starting in Oakland, hell even Matt Ryan is starting in Atlanta! If there is any QB in the NFL who deserves a chance, its BQ. I won't lose any sleep since Brady is brining home a nice paycheck, but it wouldn't hurt ND to have him succeed in the NFL either!

I think Quinn will absoilutley be starting by next week. Anderson is not a #1 QB, he just had a flame under his ass last year cuz of Brady. He got his payday, and good for him, but good ol #10 will be under center shortly!

Go Browns, at least if they lose again this week I don't think they can make it as painful as last week..... yeah right.

Hey Kmoose I gotta give you a shout as a Canton native myself. Go Crusaders!
