Two big things from tonight:

Steven Wright is back and looked great. He's a big piece when talking about the rotation moving forward as the Sox continue to look for that 5th guy. Sale, Price, Porcello, ERod, and Wright makes the most sense. I am still not a believer in Pomeranz.

It's time to start talking about JD Martinez. The guy is just a pure hitter. He doesn't just hit for power although he leads MLB in dingers. He's fun to watch and has added the exact element in this lineup that was lacking with the retirement of Ortiz.

The Sox stayed hot despite the absence of Mookie Betts. Yankees also won and remain a game back.

Sox released Hanley on Friday. Mitch and JD likely to share 1B/DH duties. It might also free up some space for Swihart to get some PT. I had/have really big hopes for him behind the plate.

I've read nothing or heard of nothing here in New England about Martinez being moved to first base. Not only that, but he made it very clear in free agency that he wasn't ready to be an everyday DH. The rotation they've been working is what they'll stick with moving forward. Martinez will rotate between LF and DH while Mitch handles every day 1B duties.

Yeah that could be spot on... I don't know if you have ever checked out soxprospects.com, but its like IE on steroids. Lots of forum talk ect.

I read in one of threads about JD playing some first or the possibility, but who knows.

Maybe a possibility down the line. They do have a log jam in the outfield already. I know Martinez was very adamant about not being a full time DH during free agency.

It will be interesting to see what they do with Swihart. I'm very neutral on him right now.

I'm a Tigers fan, and miss him dearly. He is putting up MVP conversation worthy numbers so far offensively. He hit consistently for Detroit for three years, especially in the power department. Last season he started hitting better for average, and it's sticking this year. It was actually pretty cool seeing him take my Tigers deep last night. He is a class act guy, as well, and I will always remember his days as a Tiger fondly.

He's been great in Boston. The young guys really look up to him and from everything talked about, he really takes the time to talk to these guys and help them develope.

Boston in Kansas City for a series starting tonight.

Sale set to face a pretty bad lineup and Sale's first start since being named AL pitcher of the month. Wouldn't be surprised to see another quality start notched in the books after tonight.

6 IP 1 run 1 ER 12K yup that qualifies as a quality start. Sox rolling and Yanks lost. Daily double.

Sale gets the W.

Tyler Thornburg gets into a big league game. Great to see after that surgery. Velocity was there and he looked ok. Gave up a lead-off triple to Duda but settled in.

Betts and JD continue to roll with a HR each.

Sox gain a game on the Yankees who lost to Toronto.

Sox beat up on a pretty bad KC team for the 2nd night in a row.

David Price looked mediocre.

JBJ went 0-6.

KC walked 13 Sox batters, one shy of their franchise mark.

Mookie and Benny had big nights.

5 in a row. Yanks also won today so the Sox remain two games up.

6 in a row and finished the road trip at 7-2.

Porcello with the win today as the Sox sweep KC.

Boston comes home for two series before the ASG with Texas and Toronto coming in.

ASG rosters are final. Betts and JD as starters. Sale and Kimbrel as pitchers with Mitch Moreland coming in as a reserve.

Benny is up for vote in the final spot.

Hope S Wright can comeback healthy after the break. Would be huge based on the way he pitched early. Nice that they are still up a couple of games.

KC has been swept in their last three series. They've lost 27 of their last 31.

The Sox just keep on rolling heading into the break. They finished off a sweep of the Rangers at home last night. Toronto comes into Boston for a series to finish out the first "half"

Bullpen day yesterday and everyone looked pretty good aside from Beeks who is still trying to find his footing in the MLB.

A day ahead of myself. Chris Sale dominated and finished the series with Texas last night. Sale has been unbelievable over the last two months. He struck out 12 more and walked only 1 while giving up no runs.

Hembree gave up a few runs before Kimbrel came in and closed the door on the Rangers late rally.

Benny finished second in the fan vote. Won't be long before the kid is an ASG regular.

Sox continue to win. Yanks beat the O's last night to keep up.

Sox opened up the "second half" with a strong pitching performance from Price.

Mookie extends his on base streak to 20 games with a 7th innings walk.

Yanks dropped the first game of the Subway Series and Sox win bumping the gap to 5.5.

Good call. JBJ starting to hit a bit. Benny has such a nice swing to the opposite field. Sale didn't look all that comfortable but he is nasty. Let's go Mets! tonite.

I was at the game on Friday night at Comerica Park. I was happy to see my measly Tigers pull off one in the series. Awesome seeing JD Martinez playing as well as he has, he was one of my faves when he was in Mo-Town. Very humble guy putting up MVP-like numbers.

This BoSox team is the real deal, such a complete roster top to bottom.

Coming off an ASG hangover. I think they'll rebound today and put up 5+

That was easy money.. Tigers starting a bullpen guy.. Red sox only scoring 1 run in two games.. I was surprised they didn't get double digits lol
