So why isn't he rated higher? Recruiting ratings are funky.

doesn't come from texas,florida,california..seriously...plus he is on the lighter side in terms of weight....and doesn't have the broad shoulders so concerns as lucci mentioned

Guys like Caleb Kelly are probably higher but this is a really good prospect, IMO. A lot has been made about his weight but our current SAM (JO) was 205 when he was a senior and Aaron is currently 209. I have no doubt that he can get to 230+. Like Pandfan said he's a really fast LB but most importantly was what he looked like in coverage at the Opening. I saw some of the recruiting guys say that he was the best coverage LB since Jaylon Smith in that setting.

Totally agree. On top of that he has offers form OSU, PSU, Georgia, OU, UO, SCAR, UF, etc... he isn't just some 3 star. His ceiling is through the roof. A lot like Bilal.

I had the same questions as I haven't followed Hansford, so it's great to hear he's a quality prospect.

How are we feeling about this one? as good as anyone? top 5? locked up?

It's a make or break on visit....247 said this could be like Rochelle s recruitment where everyone thinks he is going elsewhere and then visits and boom we take over

What I would do if we could get a few more Rochelles on the D line...sorry this is Aaron's thread.

The kid is good.

Sounds like the visit went well. Loy uses his CB differently than Wiltfong, likes to get in extremely early, so not shocking this would occur. Good news is the source Wiltfong spoke to didn't think OSU was that big of a factor. Wiltfong has him to PSU at the moment. He also doesn't think he goes that far from home, so Oregon is a long shot. I like our chances if it's a ND/PSU battle for him

His family is looking for a quality combination of academics and athletics. We smash those schools on the academics, if we win, I think we'll be in good position.

Lucky how do you feel about him as a player?

I'm pretty high on him. He's got good length and a whole lot of speed. Not only just speed but he moves really well. I get the concerns about weight, I just don't put as much into that as some of the sites have. He can easily play at 230, IMO. Which is plenty big for this day and age of college ball. As of now he's very much a Tweener kind of LB for these spread offenses.

Think he can be like what Drue Tranquill showed yesterday before the injury. Light, athletic LB that flies around the field. We seem to be recruiting a lot of them. LSU thrives with those kind of LBs in their 4-3

PER 2 sources loy spoke with ....we lead for him following the visit although he HASN'T publicly stated this.
also some sources said his visit w/ jaylon hit home, parents are all on board w/ him being here

This keeps getting better, really hope we land this guy. Playing a Tranquil or OLB role has me excited.

Yes, eventually. It all depends on how fast he can gain good weight. Tranquill is playing at 225 right now. I think he'll need to get close to the range. He's very similar to Asmar Bilal, IMO but more speed.

Good point, LSU's Sam and Will LB's are both 227. MLB Beckwith is much bigger at 252 but I see BVG recruiting more speed and situational players to combat these spread offenses.

I'll add that I like the outside/inside combo of Hansford and Jonathan Jones, who OV's this weekend, quite a bit.

At 6'3" 209 he ran a 4.51 at the opening. For comparison Jaylon ran a 4.59 at 6'3" 212 at the opening.

Yeah this dude can fly. Wonder if he'll be able to put on the good weight that Jaylon did. Give me all the "speed kills" LBs.

Got to like the measurables but remember - Steve Filer was a 4.5 guy too....

So.......... does that mean we stop recruiting 4.5 LB's because Filer was a bust? Just not sure I see the point.
