I wouldn't question Cora's decisions. You'll be talking a different tune if Sale doesn't give up that game tying bomb against Huston again in this year's playoffs..
No, I won't at all. My issue is not with resting him if he needs rest. My issue is resting him on THIS start in THIS series. Rest him against literally ANY other team in the league. I don't see the benefit in resting him against the only team in the division that could make things interesting down the stretch. That will be my tune regardless of playoff outcome.
Anyway, the game last night was incredible to watch offensively. Even down 4-0 I felt like the Sox were still in it because CC was leaving that cutter right over the middle of the plate. Eventually the Sox were going to tee off on that and I was just hoping Johnson could keep the game close enough for that to happen. All of that happened....
Johnson gave up some bombs early but also struck out a career high, 11 batters. It shows exactly what this Yankee lineup is IMO. Undisciplined power hitters.
The Sox offense was in high gear. From stealing bases all over the diamond, to wall-ball doubles and broken bat singles, to moon shots over the monster, and a hell of an athletic play by JBJ, this team looked unstoppable.
Mookie continues to hit. He reached base 6 times last night.
Brian Johnson struck out 11.
Steve Pearce had his first career 3 HR game. With a late chance for his 4th, the Yankees in true rivalry form, walked him.
Ian Kinsler is the defensive second baseman we needed. Made some fantastic plays last night.
Sox move 6.5 games up on the Yankees. Pitching matchups won't be any better moving forward in this series for the Sox.
