is it me or does BK just seem flat out beat down right now in interviews?

even eric hansen from the SBT called the presser "vanilla" and his post practice from last night, he just seems, what's the word? low? auto-pilot? something.

i'm looking forward to watching his radio show tonight (link below), just to see if there is any pep.

I've noticed this as well. I figured he was just under the weather.

I noticed he looked real tired at the press conference on Tuesday. Must be feeling the pressure.

The scrutiny of the head coaching job at ND is a lot to manage. Think about his year so far. Getting criticized about his yelling, the QB play, the mess last week with the media, the Michigan game, the USC week/game, the ESPN/bye week marathon, trying to change a culture at ND, trying to get the powers that be on board with changes to the program, the type of recruiting he's doing, and add on top that all the F'n turnovers. That's a lot to deal with. The to's alone would make me less than "peppy." In fact they have haha.

Or maybe he has learned the hard way to just keep his mouth shut. The way everyone from the media to the forums over analyzes and critiques every thing he says, I would keep my comments quite also. Welcome to ND

I thought he looked bad on Tuesday and figured he was just a little under the weather (he seemed to be coughing with a runny nose). I thought he looked better in yesterday's shorter press appearance.

Sadly, it's this.

The 48 hours form last Thursday to last Saturday have change permanently the way Kelly will conduct interviews.

It's a damn shame because he was one of the handful of coaches who were so honest.

The media wonders why someone will get vanilla or not say too much when in fact it is there fault for blowing up a small situation into World War III. I wouldn't say anything either.

Over-analyzing....at least half the quality of a presscon is the questions asked; most of the other half is the sort of "news", if anything, which occurred during the "week" or past day even. Plain vanilla unexciting presscons are exactly what one wants, not a soap opera every day.

Agreed. Every man has a down day. Hell, even I manage A bad post out of every 5,000 or so. ;)

I thought he was great on the Legends interview tonight. Too much reading into things by some folks. He's acknowledged that this is Notre Dame and he's leaned on everything he has to guide him through the gauntlet... This job isn't for everybody and I think he's weathering the storm just fine.

Sports journalism used to be run by adults. When a guy said somthing that might be misconstrued in an interview, the follow-up let him clarify his intentions. Now these junior firemen try to start fires with any wayward remark. They have no intention of understanding the intention. BK is learning that silence or nothing, vanilla comments work best. I say let him be silent as a Trappist monk. He doesn't need the distractions.

i agree completely that his answers this week (earlier. he was on point after practice and at the radio show today), were guarded a bit. nothing wrong with that, even for the most politically correct speak from a coach i've ever heard.

im not drawing any conclusions. i was just wondering if anyone else had noticed.

Sorry if this has an easy answer and I just missed it, but can someone please tell me where I can hear Brian Kelly's Radio Show? I don't know where you can hear it when it's not live. I've looked on und.com and on youtube/google video.

Thanks!

It's a rough job he's got to do, and the pressure is mounting. I also don't like that they don't include the video from the BK Radio Show.

It has been a rough year. I still have confidance in Kelly though, you have to give him the proper time to turn things around before you call for his head. His record is no different from Lou's given the same time span. Is he as good as Lou? Probably not, but I see improvement over the previous administration(s). Defense is at least a step up, while offense suffers at times with shooting itself in the foot. Overall I think things are looking better though. I didn't expect BCS this year anyway, the schedule was rough and we need some of these defensive recruits to get at least a year under their belt.
