As I said earlier, I lost a few friends at the Pentagon. IMO, it would've been closure for the families. They would know that the person ultimately responsible for their loss was brought to justice. At the same time though, I don't want every Muslim in Iraq, Afghanistan, and other places to hang the photo in their rooms worshipping the POS like he was some kind of martyr.

Exactly right. I understand people being elated at the news of his death, but on the other hand I was very conflicted of the shots of people celebrating in Times Square and at the White House. I didn't really know how to feel. I guess I was very unprepared for what would happen when we finally got the modern symbol of evil himself. Maybe I just never really thought it would happen.

Part of me thinks we should parade the corpse through the entire nation and things like that, but another part of me thinks we should just let it go quietly.

Too true... espcially when there is no humanly possible way to "clarify" his way out of the corner he put himself in. This isn't the first dumb tweet he's had.

I meant let "it" go quietly, in terms of the picture issue. Not letting Osama go quietly. I said earlier in the thread we should have taken him alive and put him in general population at Riker's Island. That would have been good justice.

I don't know why, but it really irks me when people write seals when talking about Navy SEALs. Seals are a goofy looking animal where as SEALs are arguably the best of the best of our military personnel.

I don't mean to be hormonal...it just irks me the blatant disrespect shown for our President. I wasn't always fond of everything Clinton and Bush did but I did respect their office. It also irks me that some people can't be informed they just run off of hear say and don't want to learn anything because they hate him and can't listen to reason. I mean if a pissing contest is necessary about politics, I may not be able to write my name in the snow, but I know facts and I am educated and I do research. I don't need anyone to agree with me, but you know how it is, it is a subject you just bang your head against the wall about. I do believe the SEALs are the best military personnel. They are the elite.

Beyond that I have yet to see the books and movie's regarding his assassination... I've yet to see members of the media throw things at him during press conferences (or hold him to any level of account frankly), then collectively laugh about it after... I haven't seen the cottage industry of shirts with his face in a sniper scope and or with devil horns... I've yet to see him impeached over total BS while those on all sides bury him... yet to see him get flamed nightly for military actions or lack thereof... or hear reputed sociologists claim his murder is the great day that never happened...

all of the above happened to either Bush or Clinton,... or both... I’m not trying to say people haven’t been unfair towards him at times… but total respect of the office went out with political parties… nothing Obama is seeing is new. and it's time his "sheeple" deal with that.

There are times that I'd like to fire a cruise missile into certain threads on this board, as they become so emotionally divisive of the Notre Dame family and to no good perceivable end. I would suggest that no one on this board has experience in high-level military intelligence nor foreign relations and therefore probably doesn't know what they are talking about --- I, of course, include myself. I suppose, since this is the Leprechaun Lounge, and many folks seem to enjoy screaming at one another, that one is relegated to just hoping that posters don't carry their politics and grudges into other areas.

P.S. although I am a Gospel-of-Love New Testament Catholic, I too believe that sometimes you just have to take the dangerous thugs out.
