Missed this sweet little lie before.

None of it was "left behind" by the US government. Everything in that picture was owned by the Afghanistan government.
Just curious, do you know if the equipment was provided to the Afghan government by the US Government? I’m assuming it was but I don’t know that for a fact.

I'm not totally sure what to make of the reporting.

"Over 40,000 of the total 96,000 military vehicles the US gave to Afghan forces remained in Afghanistan at the time of the US withdrawal, including 12,000 military Humvees, the report states. “The operational condition of the remaining vehicles” in Afghanistan is “unknown,” the report states."

What happened to the difference? Did we take some of the gifted equipment back with us? Was the remaining equipment destroyed during the military operational period? Was some stolen?

If we took back some of the items that were "gifted"..... can you really say they were gifted????

Yeah……I’m sure we’ll really know the full truth on this issue but I agree, you can’t take a gift back 😊

Yeah, over the 20 years the US government was in Afghanistan, the equipment was all provided to the Afghan government.

No guarantee the CoS works or isn’t a pile of crap either. The CoS people I saw running bills in state level had this idealistic and academic take that they could just fix everything by bypassing the legislative process. I’m highly skeptical

No guarantee? That is rich - you have a better idea?

It has passed in 19 states - need 34 to call a convention. How is it not worth a shot? Nobody in DC is EVER going to reduce the size, scope or power of the federal government. If it only got term limits passed it would be a huge success and prove the process can provide a check on unchecked federal overreach.

Are all these little lies a Catholic thing? Bishop brought up collusion, Seek was responding to him. Seek is wrong that there was "collusion", but is right to elude that there are plenty of links between the Trump campaign and the Russian government in the Mueller Report.

I quoted the report. There are 100 pages (25% of the reports pages) of links between the Russian government and the Trump campaign. Associates repeated lied about the contacts, some went to jail for their lying, some got pardoned, some served their time. Even though it was redacted at the time, we know that Roger Stone was the connection between the campaign and wikileaks. Campaign manager Manafort is heavily connected to a Russian agent, providing the agent polling data for Russia to use.

Everyone in Trump's orbit lied about their contacts with Russia. Most just to the media, but some went to jail for lying about it to the government. His campaign manager and deputy campaign manager were two that served time. There were multiple points where campaign members or associates came into contact with Russian operatives.

You're splitting hairs. Does it really matter who started the stupid discussion? I was simply pointing out that I was responding to the false collusion statement. If you want to nitpick I think you probably mean "allude" and not "elude."

Uh huh, everyone in Trump's orbit had Russian contacts. Everyone lied about their contacts with Russia, that's why Flynn was the only one that spent time in jail over it...and it was for failing to disclose his contacts with Russia during the transition period. He didn't go to jail for communicating with the Russians during the election, it was after Trump had already won the election and they were in the transition period. Nothing I'm seeing shows that his people was charged with speaking to the Russians during the election...and again, Mueller found no criminal activity. The only thing he left on the table was possible obstruction which is a separate charge.

The rest of Trump's cronies went to jail for various other offenses: campaign fiances, hush money for Daniels, money fraud, lying under oath, etc. None of that had anything to do with Russia, Russia, Russia. So again...campaign was already over before any Trump cronies had illegal contact with the Russians, and the only one guilty was Flynn during that transition. Show some evidence the others were guilty.

Really? Where are you seeing that they owned all the vehicles? By all accounts I've seen some vehicles were provided to the Afghan government to be used to fight the Taliban, but CNN and Yahoo showed that many of these vehicles were the hastily "destroyed" ones we actually owned and disabled, items that the Taliban later repaired. Even if some items were the equipment that was lent or given to the Afghan government it doesn't change the fact that billions of dollars in equipment wound up in the enemy's hands.

The Department of Defense was required to submit a report to Congress “regarding the disposition of United States property, equipment and supplies provided to” Afghan forces that “were destroyed, taken out of” or “remain in Afghanistan,” states the report, which is dated March 2022.

“The $7.12 billion figure cited in the Department’s recent report to Congress corresponds to ANDSF equipment and not U.S. military equipment used by our forces,” Army Major Rob Lodewick, a Defense Department spokesperson, said in a statement. “Nearly all equipment used by U.S. military forces in Afghanistan was either retrograded or destroyed prior to our withdrawal and is not part of the ‘$7.12 billion’ figure cited in the report.”

I made the correction, thanks.

I didn't bring Flynn up once when I talked about Trump campaign connections to Russia for a reason. He was giving foreign policy advice to Russia as if he represented the United States, when he didn't. I view that differently since it was post election and not a part of the collusion rhetoric.

Flynn never went to jail. He was pardoned before he was sentenced. Neither did Stone, his sentence was commuted while waiting to report to jail (no pardon for him, means no admittance of guilt), Manafort, Gates, and P-11 all went to prison and all of it had to do with Russia. So, you miss me with the fantasy that their convictions didn't have anything to do with Russia.

Just to be clear...you are really going to run with just the names of the crimes and not the underlying reasons for the charges? Like what they were lying under oath about?

Manafort's trouble revolved primarily around the fact that he was a foreign agent and didn't report it. He did extensive work for former Ukrainian President and known Putin puppet Viktor Yanukovych. That has to do with Russia. For a little more smoke on the side, Manafort removed all support of Ukraine from the GOP platform in 2016. Why would he do that? Does that have to do with making Russia happy?

Gates went to jail for lying about the same work for Ukraine, but he cooperated...a lot. He testified at Stone's trial (this was redacted in the Mueller Report) that,

"On the stand Tuesday, Gates detailed overhearing a speakerphone conversation in July 2016 between Stone and Paul Manafort, his longtime business associate and the campaign chairman, after WkiLeaks released its first batch of emails, and Stone told Manafort that “additional information would be forthcoming.”

“Mr. Manafort thought it would be great,” Gates testified.

At the end of July, Gates said he was with Trump on a car ride from Trump Tower to LaGuardia Airport when Trump was in the midst of a conversation with Stone, whose voice Gates recognized on the other end of the line.

Defense lawyers objected to the question when Gates was asked about it, but he was allowed to testify that Trump indicated after the call concluded that “more information would be coming,” presumably related to WikiLeaks.

On cross examination, Gates acknowledged that he could not hear specifically what Stone was telling Trump on the phone call."

P-11 went to jail for lying about his contacts with Russians to the Mueller investigation.

Anyways, this insistence to cling to "no collusion" as some justification that Russia didn't try and help Trump get elected, and that Trump didn't welcome that assistance with open arms is fucking nonsense.

That's how military aid works. It's provided as materiel, munitions, and training. We don't go and take back what was given. Well, I guess if we were fighting side by side, we may take it to use, but the expectation would be to give it back.

There will always be stuff left behind, when you evacuate, you blow up and burn anything not cost effective to take with you. Depending on where you are and who you are, you may train on doing it.

This has all the numbers of what was left and what was provided.

I think it is relatively clear that the investment made by the US government over the years in Afghanistan did not yield a very solid return on multiple fronts.

Oh absolutely. We did a lot more than most people realize to try and build that country up. Had a lot of successes too. You can see it all on the USAID website.

None of it matters though. The Afghan military was much more a jobs program than it was a warfighting force.

I am well aware that Candidate Biden has pull. I'm not saying he doesn't. I'm saying you are making a false equivalency.
It's even funnier when you go back and see who brings up Trump the most. From the last month...

started a back n forth about Trump

Started a back and forth about Trump

Started a back and forth about Trump

Started a back and forth about Trump.
Wrong on the last one. I was only making a comparison. When you respond it’s you creating the back and forth.

Even with a cheat sheet he messes up half the time.
And they're gonna run him for a second term. This really is like the banjo boy from Deliverance starring as the lead in Weekend At Bernie's II.

So we're back to people being guilty of crimes until proven innocent? I can't keep up anymore. If those individuals were guilty of conspiring with Russia during the election they would have been charged and sentenced. It's not like liberals didn't spend every ounce of energy and a shit ton of tax dollars investigating for 4 years. Face the facts: what you're accusing them of is all in your head. There's no evidence they did anything illegal with Russia during the election. It's purely speculation.

So...some of those vehicles were not just what was lent to the Afghan government and later confiscated by the Taliban? Some of them were equipment we left behind and failed to properly dispose of? Thanks for confirming.

Cack & Co. like to tell us how screwed up the GOP is, but think about this. The Dems are rolling back out for a second run a president with one of the lowest approval ratings ever and the oldest president ever who will be 82 by the time the election is held. His cognitive skills will have diminished even more by then. Surely they have someone who would be a better candidate?

James Comer commenting on Fox's Sunday Morning Futures

A least a dozen relatives of President Joe Biden are likely to be exposed for benefiting from foreign businesses tied to Biden, House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., said to Maria Bartiromo on Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures.”

“There’s not going to be anybody left for a Christmas picture if the [Department of Justice] did their job and went in there and indicted everyone that has any type of fingerprints involved in this influence-peddling scheme,” Comer said, according to the New York Post.

“I mean, it’s the entire family,” Comer continued, adding that “there isn’t a single one of those family members that had the ability to do anything to influence foreign policy other than the big guy, Joe Biden.”

The entire thing is nothing but influence peddling with Joe's relatives serving as the bag men. No foreign power just gives millions to the relative of a VP or P without expecting something. This has always been about Joe selling access and favors via family members.
