That's because you're not giving Joe enough time to fix things. He's had his plate full making a mess in Afghanistan, screwing over the French in an arms deal, failing to unite the Dems on the infrastructure deal nobody wanted and dealing with all of you subverting his COVID plan. Not to mention people ignoring him and still flooding the borders,

Breaking my hiatus for this

Taxing unrealized gains is a colossal error, like possibly the biggest one they could make (other than straight up taking people's property away from them). The amount of back office work that would have to go into the IRS compliance team, audit teams, and service desk would be insane. Not to mention the sky high accounting fees that us CPA's could charge is incredible. As well, if there are unrealized gains being taxed then it would only be fair that unrealized losses could be claimed as well. A lot of $1 transactions would start happening. This would break the IRS.

Admittedly I didn't watch Yellens video, but if the subject line is right then it's 110% dumb.

Well, I think the biggest crock is section 62. "Ordinary and necessary business expenses" HAH! a subsidy to restaurants and hoteliers.......

Let free enterprise be free enterprise. Repeal 62, adjust the rate. Winners will win, losers will lose Simpler, shorter

Wall Street pisses and moans all the time over "colossal errors." And they have their bought and paid for bobo in Chuck Schumer, who thought he had bamboozled them with the LOVELY story about the Bailey family right before he INSISTED that carried interest LOOPHOLES for RICH WALLSTREETERS were preserved.

Your techniques are intriguiing. And hysterical. just spitballin, you would just add a form to the 1040 listing your stock holdings, date purchased. Computer could do the rest. Yawn

Sure unrealized losses would net against unrealized losses. But if you AID AND ABET in fraudulent $1 transactions, then you are as criminal as the clowns that looked the other way on the Enron FRaud or the Madoff fraud.

Just one epistemological note

Your note on Yellen, to summarize
I didn't read it
but it's 110% dumb

is consistent with a grand tradition:, perfected by Owen Wilson as Hansel in the Zoolander movie

To wit:
"Sting. Sting would be another person who's a hero. The music he's created over the years, I don't really listen to it, but the fact that he's making it, I respect that"

Let me paraphrase
"Yellen, Yellen would be another person who's 110% dumb (if the subject line is right, and when by George Orwell, have subject lines ever been wrong?" I don't really know what she said, but the fact that she's saying it, I disrespect that 110%"

To the younguns on the board, never, EVER trust or hire an accountant who uses the phrase 110%
Do the math.

Is it an earth shattering remark? No

However, this President has taken minimal questions from the press and held very few interviews. The ones he does take are softballs and he never takes questions on his failures in Afghanistan.
So what he does say matters and remarks like this go into his poll scores on competence and confidence. It also reminds us the dude has been around long enough to where they prob did casually say negro in the Capitol.

Joe knew the minute he said "negro" that it was wrong.

So he said it again!

All I can ever think of when I hear that word is the Rush Limbaugh bit where Al Sharpton sings Barrack the magic negro to the tune of Puff the Magic Dragon.

Its situations like this where decisions to shut down pipelines just comes across as awful optics.

I have no idea how much shutting down pipelines or whatever does in the short, intermediate, long-term etc. but the average person is gonna assume that doing those sorts of things certainly isn't gonna reduce the price of gas.

It's funny you post this. My car was totaled on Halloween and I took the payout and wanted so bad to get an F150. 15 miles a gallon with a 25 gallon tank would have been $87 a week in gas for me. Gas is only supposed to get worse so I sadly passed. I can't find a Maverick. And I looked HARD.

I ended up getting a Lincoln MKZ for me and a Kia Optima for my girl in college. It rides like a dream, has 287 HP and gets 24 miles a gallon. I'll gets a Maverick in a year or two.

They don't care. More expensive gas makes green look better to them.

Didn't Psaki say something to that extent recently? Asked about the rising gas prices and she said "Yeah, that's our point, we should be going electric." Nevermind we're nowhere near prepared for a large percentage of people to just make such a switch even if they could afford to dump their combustion engines, the...infrastructure isn't in place.

MKZ's are nice. My truck is a 2008 Lincoln Mark LT. I bought it used and have had it for about 8 years. I couldn't justify the sticker price on a loaded F150. Same engine as the Fords. 15mpg.

Biden is a sneaky fox. It's a really simple, yet ingenious plan by Joe. Get gas prices so high people will be forced to go electric. Going electric saves the auto industry, beefs up the utility companies requiring both to hire more employees to keep up with the demand. More jobs means less unemployment and a greener world. You fix three problems with one solution. All the people who can't afford to buy new cars? As that one person said, we should learn to live with inflation. :wordyo:

She did. She used it to justify their lack of concern about gas prices. Our Secretary of Energy even laughed at the topic. I'll bet Psaki doesn't spend much time at the pump. With two kids playing travel sports, I live at the pump.

Full article in the link. Joe says his hands are tied and has to sign this. Environmental groups say Joe could have fought harder in court or pull the leasing areas off the auction block.

(CNN)One of President Joe Biden's boldest environmental campaign promises was to ban new oil and natural gas leasing on public land and water. But on Wednesday his administration will open more than 80 million acres in the Gulf of Mexico to auction for drilling.

The auction is at odds with Biden's climate agenda -- the President has also promised to slash greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030 -- and environmental advocates say it could set US climate goals back for years.

I'm okay with this. Environmental groups aren't going to like it, but we've got to stick it to OPEC and raise our supply somehow to keep pressure on. Doesn't seem like Biden has a choice, looks like Psaki bombed it saying it doesn't follow his view or the policies and EO's he's signed, they know it's a bad look. Looks like groups will litigate to fight it until it goes into effect January 1st, we'll see what happens.

Looks pretty obvious that the Biden team saw some polls and that gas prices are pissing people off. The nutcases in their circle who thought it would fly to push green alternatives led them astray for too long.

From cnn.com

President Joe Biden, who is taking political heat from the spike in gasoline prices, asked the Federal Trade Commission on Wednesday to "immediately" investigate whether illegal activity by oil and gas companies is contributing to the problem.
The American Petroleum Institute slammed the push and renewed its call for the federal government to encourage domestic oil and gas production even as it tries to fight the climate crisis.
"This is a distraction from the fundamental shift that is taking place and the ill-advised government decisions that are exacerbating this challenging situation," the group said in a statement.

Coming back from vacation at Disney World, we stopped to get gas. There on the pump right next to the dollar amount was a sticker of Uncle Joe smiling. He's pointing a finger at what you spent. The captain said, "You can thank me for this!" Similar to this one.
