Find me someone more consistent on the vaccine than Mitch McConnell? Find me a member of congress who has personally vaccinated more people than Rep. Miller-Meeks of Iowa's second?
You live in a delusional bubble where the only people not getting vaccinated must be the evil red-hat-wearing Republicans. I am far from a Democrat and was vax'd in March. The only plan this failure had was to hope that vaccine developed under Trump's Operation Warp Speed crossed this off his list so he could claim victory. In reality, the plan was to scapegoat the political opposition, blame social media, and enact authoritarian policies.

You have to be a parody at this point, right? Everything is "buh buh buhhhh the media is badddd muh feelin's!" I'm still waiting for the grand plan you have to entice Republican's to get vaccinated, try and do it without the Big Bad Media and Uncle Joe is a dictator tropes.

The stats show Republican's aren't getting vaccinated at the same rates as Democrats. I'm glad you are vaccinated.

Legit question on vax rates, Republican v Democrat. Do you (or does anyone) think the stats would be different if Donald Trump was in Joe's seat? I think they might be a little different but I would still think Democrats vax rates would be higher.

I am not vaccinated. I really do not understand why I would need to. There is research that implies that a vaccine may not benefit those that have had it. According to my doctor I have already had it. According to my doctor I probably do not need it. My doctor told me that its recommended that I get the vaccine because its still relatively new and the jury is still out what the benefits are for those who have already had it, if any.

I honestly think if DJT won the election, vax rates would be up. He would trumpet the win of getting the vaccine out, and the loyalists would take the vaccine because he made it. In terms of vax rates DJT winning would have been a big boost. The efficacy of the vaccines are too good for the spiteful people on the left to deny, so I think vax rates would remain at least consistent for Democrats. I think you could use my province (Ontario) as a good example since we have a conservative premier, he's at least promoted vaccines, and our rates are 62% of all citizens fully and higher rates at the 12/18+ cohorts.

Yep I was treated as a presumptive positive in Feb 2020 and then in November 2020, I still got my doses May/June 2021 since our doctors were worried about immunity waning from antibodies acquired from the first strain. The way I see it, is that if getting a vaccine keeps me from the hospital and reduces the chances of a bad head cold then why not. Plus if I get it without knowing, it builds my anitbodies that I have from the vaccine plus from acquiring another infection.

I am not sure if vax rates would be higher. Never underestimate lib folks cognitive problems when it comes to anything DJT.

I literally had a girlfriend break up with me because "Trump has kids in cages and you don't care!" I believe she later volunteered for the Biden campaign. People got irreparably broken by DJT both left and right, so you'd have millions of rednecks and long islanders getting their MAGA shots, but millions.... tens of millions of devout libs would rather die than get the shot.

Barack Obama could do a PSA advocating the vax and libs would disregard it because he droned weddings in Yemen or something. Literally anything to avoid giving Trump a W.

All the goofy arguments you are hearing from boomer MAGA uncles right now.... would be propagated by your "Vote Blue No Matter Who" Aunt Katherine. "I'm not letting my children Huxley and Brixton and Kayleighghfhfh get the MAGAt Vaccine! Children aren't at risk and my risk is low!"

How do we know this? Because we saw it last fall.. People broke when they heard a vaccine was ready. Joy Reid said it wrecked the CDC's credibility forever. Kamala Harris said she wouldn't take Trump's vaccine.

Matthew Yglesias broke it down how journalists were treating every Trump decision on covid from the get-go. In the early days, until he surprised them...they had long columns ready to criticize him as being a tyrant for doing lockdowns. Lockdowns did not become popular until it became some creepy lib sheep way of standing up to Donald. Masking (despite its ineffectiveness) became a way to let your neighbor know you aren't a republican.

There is zero people on earth who could convince me the libs would be getting shots in the numbers they got them this year if DJT had gotten the 150-200K votes he needed to win last November.

For libs, hating Trump and being a card carrying Democrat foot soldier is often more important than life itself. After all, he collided with Russia to deprive America from our first woman President.

This argument is refuted by the fact that the buy in towards covid prevention was much higher than by Republicans. You had people losing their minds at DeWine and Hogan calling them tyrants.

Simply put, no, people on the Left would get vaccinated no matter what. You can look at mask buy in, or in the early/mid stages at the number of Republicans who thought or still think COVID is a hoax.

Anecdotal evidence is cute and all but the stats show, Republicans at the start thought it was a Chinese hoax, during the middle didn't believe in COVID preventative measures, and now they are less likely to get vaccinated.

They bought in, I agree, but I would dispute your reasoning. They bought in on masks because their local elected leaders told them to and it went against the Donald. Had Donald Trump ever went on TV and said "you need to mask up and you need the vaccine", libs wouldn't have done it. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out.

If Trump says "get your vaccine" and a local mayor or governor says the same, they are Trump's lackey. This is how anything with Trump worked for four years.

I say this nicely and without any intent to insult, but I don't think a Canadian is capable of understanding how things were here. A lot of it is stuff you had to personally experience to see how bad it got.

A good illustration of it is the border stuff. Ten years ago, there was a consensus among all Americans that the border needed to be secured and we needed to do more down there. Yes, there was some fringe hippies who wanted to let them all in and there were goofy militia types who wanted them shot at the border, but the average bear wanted more fences, walls, etc.

Donald Trump runs for POTUS and it changed overnight. Suddenly every republican was adamant about building a wall and every Dem wanted to be recite some shitty poem on some plaque on the statue of liberty.

It is what it is, but I think any argument that basically hinges on "liberal Americans would take the vaccine because they are smart and listen to the science" is fundamentally wrong.

People ordered their lives around DJT being right or wrong about things. Every single topic. Raise your hand if you got called a fascist/commie over the tax cut debate....

If Trump won in November, there is really nothing that could convince me there wouldn't be a relatively similar anti-vax movement prevalent in Democrat enclaves. We had four years of people giving up long held beliefs in order to spite/validate DJT and I see no reason that would stop at vaccines.

We saw the early returns on it, a ridiculous amount of anti vax stuff in the fall coming from one particular group. And we have no reason to think that would have stopped.

End of the day, it doesn't matter. DJT didn't win in November. So we need to live in reality. Talk to your doctor. Get your shots. Let's move on with life lol

I've heard many say that Biden needed to thank Trump and the OWS team for their work and stand together to get people vaccinated. They think that would have had far more impact. I'm not sure. No idea if Trump would even do that, but something more bi-partisan than the finger-pointing we've seen from the White House. Just about anything would be better than what we've had from this White House.

I think you would be misguided to think only Republicans are sheep. I think a lot of Democrats only masked up because that is the position that side took. I really think if Trump took a hard line and was 110% masks in February 2020 it would have been a whole different story for both sides. Remember Trump was met with ridicule for the steps he did take in January and February. Fauci was even telling us that masks were not necessary back then. IF Trump were mandating masks in February I think democrats might have sung a different tune. To think people on the left would get vaccinated no matter what seems to be naive thinking. Biden, Kamala, Pelosi and other leading Dems are on record saying they were hesitant to take a vaccine. I have a lot family friends and people I associate with that said the same that lean Democrat. Shutting off travel, bad in January because its too much but not mandating masks in April bad because you aren't taking it serious enough. Reminds me of the sports fan that wears Yankee hats when the Yanks are in the Series but then tells you how much he hates big market teams when they are losing and roots for the Rays.

You know who has been getting a free pass is Fauci. The guy in charge and advising Trump and company was advocating masks were not necessary but flipped and then suddenly wanted us to double mask. I kind of see a weasel like Fauci sort leaving Trump on an Island, the guy was just as much a disaster as anyone from the jump. Now Fauci is getting medals and will probably secure more funding for Wuhan for all his "work".

This is on Joe. That statement wasn't nothing but political. He should have never made a statement like that unless he had solid data showing he could get the numbers of vaccinated people way up there. Instead, he counted on this being a circumstance like WWII where everyone rallied together to kill the bad guy.

I honestly think if DJT won the election, vax rates would be up.

Possibly, but I doubt it. Everything is too political anymore. If you want to blame the Repubs for the vax numbers not being higher, I think it's a legitimate assumption that the vax numbers of Dems would be lower if Trump had been reelected.

If we were all as sophisticated as the coastal elitists attending Obama's birthday bash, none of this would be happening. I don't have outrage at the man for having a party (although definitely hypocritical) , merely pointing out how the lib elitists view themselves in contrast to the rest of us.

I have no issue with the party. I doubt I would have enjoyed it considering the guests, but to each their own.

I do have a very very big beef with the media singling out Sturgis. Every day in the US, there is hundreds of thousands attending professional baseball games. People drive/fly to attend those. Lollapalooza just went down in Chicago. Tens of thousands in attendance.

Sturgis is the problem though...in a few weeks the NFL season kicks off. With crowds between 60-90K. And football has drastically more travel by fans to attend than baseball. So every week NFL stadiums, tailgate lots, and pregame bars will be mini-Sturgis rallies.

That's because the left-wing bubble has convinced themselves that the problem is clearly Republicans and probably Tucker Carlson. Few libs identify with Sturgis people so, you know, blame them. They freaked out on Sturgis last year too, IIRC.

Meanwhile, this is a sure-fire way to get those flyover GOP folk to run out and get vaccinated.

Animosity and scapegoating of Catholics in America is not new.

Cf. Al Smith and the virulent anti-Catholicism he enncountered.

John Fitzgerald Kennedy had to convince his haters that he would not take orders from the Pope.

Biden and Pelosi share a couple of traits. They are Roman Catholic, actively so and proud of it.

For those of us who matriculated at and graduated from Notre Dame, for some of us Catholicism was an important part of the attraction.

In a word, Christian regard Biden and Pelosi as Christian brothers and sisters......

But the forces aligned against Al Smith and John Kennedy remain in place.

Anglican church offshoots despise Catholicism and Papissm, cf. Winston Chruchill.

and the Ku Klux Klan had three prongs of hatred

Jews
Blacks'
Catholics

Much of the hatred against Biden and Pelosi is anti-Catholicism in modern disguise.

And there are people who HATE monogamists and people who are proud of their monogamy.

It comes with the "I follow Christ" territory, after all Christ was

lied about
ridiculed
crucified

Christians get it, the agnostic, the vulgar, the atheistts do not. Never have, never will..............

Hahahahahahaha.

1) The tyrants are in NY enforcing vaccine passports.

2) The left spent an entire year claiming they didn't trust the vaccines and that they weren't safe because Trump was in the White House. The revisionist history here is staggering.

So statist much love

Was Warren Buffet correct when he said

"If you're in the game for 20 minutes and you don't know who the patsy is, then YOU are the patsy!"

you seem nice, harmless, but you speak in cliches, labels and bumperstickers.

I follow Friedrich Nietzsche on the appropriate position of :(gag puke-governments, nations, blah blah, blah)

To wit

A state, is called the coldest of all cold monsters. Coldly lieth it also; and this lie creepeth from its mouth: "I, the state, am the people."
It is a lie! Creators were they who created peoples, and hung a faith and a love over them: thus they served life.
Destroyers, are they who lay snares for many, and call it the state: they hang a sword and a hundred cravings over them.
Where there is still a people, there the state is not understood, but hated as the evil eye, and as sin against laws and customs.”

I just don't like sick grandchildren and dead elders.

Label away.

But I forgive you

"Father forgive them for they know not what they do."

Were you at Obama's 60th birthday bash? No masks. No vaccine passports required. No capacity limits. No social distancing.

Which famous philosopher of yours penned the term, "rules for thee, not for me" ???
