Many products we use fit into this aisle……..made by very few companies and if one of them falls, there is a vacuum. And with the baby formula, my understanding is that the makers of Similac had a huge FDA required recall which caused major repercussions in the supply chain. Logistics are already a mess so you throw in a supply issue and it’s going to take a while for the vacuum to slow down. Another similar situation occurred with chlorine tablets used in swimming pools. One of the three US manufacturing plants burned down, I believe, right before COVID hit. Well, the supply dropped like a rock which was exacerbated by people staying at home and wanting to use or buy pools. Before COVID, a 50 lb. bucket could be gotten for under $100……..same thing now costs over $250 (I believe the 3rd plant is starting to produce now or it is very close) but with all the logistical issues, it’s going to be a while before the vacuum is filled. Chlorine is certainly not on the importance level of baby formula but it is a relevant example. Maybe someone else on IE knows but it would be interesting to know if formula has some sort of price cap imposed by the Feds to try and keep it affordable for families. That could be a factor in determining profitability for the producers. Nonetheless, my understanding has been that the initial cause of the formula supply was the huge recall.

That's my understanding as well.

I would be curious to know if breast feeding has taken a quick upturn.

I once had an employee who I thought was my best employee ever. Really liked the guy. I spoke highly of the guy. He had really bad PTSD so my wife and I helped him find help and paid for his therapy. He had to resign his position but then later we wrote nice things in a letter of recommendation before he became a hotel manager and seemed to be doing well. My air conditioner went out and he let me stay at his hotel for free until it was fixed. Out of generosity he sold me a voucher for a 7 night stay for $250 for IHG hotels. He said he discounted it because I helped him so much.

Turns out he sold me that voucher and pocketed that money for meth and the hotel would not redeem it. Not a huge deal but I contacted his wife to see how we could help him. I still cared even though he was addicted to meth and conned me out of money. Turned out he was beating his wife and kids during this time as well because they asked questions about his meth addiction. The family was scared because every time the police came he would claim it was his PTSD and they would take him to the mental hospital to be evaluated… they never drug tested him so he had the authorities fooled it was just his PTSD. He became a monster. He disappeared until we found out he turned up in California arrested for assaulting an innocent mom and daughter trying to steal money for drugs.

The point here is that you can like someone and they turn into a big pile of dog shit and then your opinion of them can change. I would still try to help my old friend but if anyone asks he’s currently a piece of shit that conned me out of money and did some really bad things.

I was reading an article that the recall and shutdown of a facility (not sure if it’s the same you are talking about) was a bit questionable. Not sure the criteria to shut down a facility but after reading this article it does seem a little much to shut down a facility for the minor violations.

They found traces of a bacteria (non related to the original inquiry) in non formula producing areas… observed some employees not washing hands and standing water in one area. All fixable issues but they shut it all down, seems odd.

More often than not, the prince of the fish sticks empire tells millions of people on his show how bad the elites and ruling class are.

In reality, he's a part of it too and has been for a long ass time.

How is loving your neighbor an elitist thing... then finding out the guy has used his fathers influence to broker deals for him and his father... should he recuse himself since he was once a neighborly neighbor to Hunter for a time and once said nice things about him? I am confused what your point is. If your argument being a nice neighbor and then finding out your neighbor is an ass and then saying negative things about him is an elitist norm I need to call my banker.

AP poll shows Joe's approval rating continues to trend in the wrong direction. Down to 39%.

Of particular concern for Biden ahead of the midterm elections, his approval among Democrats stands at 73%, a substantial drop since earlier in his presidency. In AP-NORC polls conducted in 2021, Biden’s approval rating among Democrats never dropped below 82%.

Exactly…since the beginning of time. We (everyone on this board and everyone we know) don’t live in their world. And despite their politics, neither Dem or Rep elites want us in their world. When voters start realizing that and start voting for the person over the party, there will be at least minor progress made. Until then, we eat cake.
Part of the problem is when an outsider gets elected and they start enjoying the perks and benefits, they start evolving into an elite.

Before being elected: I'm all for term limits.
After being elected: I can do more good for my area by remaining in office.

Yup which would be a challenge. There needs to be voting bloc that makes it clear that if they climb into bed w/ the lobbies and other agencies that fill their coffers, that they will find another candidate to unseat the incumbent. But, yes; that’s why I like the idea of term limits as well. Not saying it has to limited to two or six year terms but anything is better than what we have now.

“Wrong” direction… Some of us would say that America is learning a painful lesson and that these polls indicate that people are slowly understanding the difference in the two parties.

Damn he's settled in at the DJT special of holding a 40% approval rating, that's just sad he can't get to the lows of the previous guy.

When your entire political goals are to take everything as a personal affront, nothing really makes sense. Cleatus and Co. are fighting battles against teachers, Disney, and their waistlines.

This is so on brand. Ignore the series of failures and their impact on real people and dismiss the dissent as Cleatus and Co. Nothing says out of touch lib like this stuff.

You've been such a great caller of balls and strikes. Polling is now good. Free speech defender *except when it's things you don't agree with.

Every day I look forward to what new angel is going to be pushed, I can't wait for the Sesame Street showdown.

(Progressive, not liberal. If I was a liberal I would be blowing my load over JB/KH.)

He has.

The difference is Trump's low approval rating was because he didn't "act Presidential". Uncle Joe's on the other hand is due to not kicking COVID's ass as promised, Afghanistan withdrawal, gas prices, inflation, blaming everyone else for all the problems, etc.

Don't forget the open border, Government disinformation boards, record crime, the fact that you have to pay an arm and a leg for a car, perpetual bad headlines, and a reasonable suspicion that his weakness invited Russians into Ukraine. Ohh yeah, and he and his VP both happen to have charisma as a dump stat and cannot talk themselves out of anything.

Not sure that's accurate. Ol'Slick was probably the second least presidential modern president and he had pretty decent approval ratings. Similarly to Joe his first two years he controlled all three branches and did essentially nothing with it.

At the end of the day, comparing the two of them is like comparing Bowling Green and UMass. I really don't want to be on the side defending JB.

Seems pretty spot on to me. Help us all understand how it isn't, please. In other words, what exactly has Joe touched that hasn't turned out to be a complete disaster?

Hope nobody needs baby formula out there... Seriously, what can this dude not fuck up?

He's done wonders to the value of Hunter Biden's precious artwork. I mean, who wouldn't dump half a mil on this?
