I love some Jay-Z, all the way back to reasonable Doubt. Is it me or is there slowly becoming an anti-Christ undertone in his message starting heavily in watch the throne? Would love to hear some perceptions on this topic.
Jay-Z Just Can’t Get Away From the Illuminati Rumors - The Daily Beast
For his part Jay-Z has repeatedly told reporters, including me, that the entire conversation is "pure foolishness” and that he believes in God. He often adds that the very people who make up these “so-called secret societies” wouldn’t allow him to join their country clubs, so why on earth would they grant him entry to the club that rules the world?
That’s not to say Carter hasn’t used this ridiculous controversy for profit. He’s a good businessman, after all. Realizing the rumors were going to persist as they have, the rapper has continued to slyly scatter suggestive symbols in his videos and his clothing line—just, it appears, to keep people guessing. He no doubt laughs at the idea that people believe a black man raised by a single mother in a Brooklyn housing project is manipulating world events, all at Lucifer’s will. Is the real moral of the story that a successful black man equals an evil, devil-worshipping black man?
In the blogosphere, some have claimed that the ram skulls, black crows and general dark imagery in the promo allude to devil-worshipping undertones.
Blasting the idea as “ridiculous”, the Jigga Man told US radio station Hot 97 that he doesn't even believe in Hell.
He said: “I don’t know where it started. I don’t know where it came from. I really think it’s really silly. For the record, I of course believe in God, but I believe in one God.
“If people must know my religious beliefs, I believe in one God. I don’t believe in religion. I don’t believe in Christians or Muslims. I think all that separates people. I think it’s one God. I think it’s all the same God, and I don’t believe in Hell.
"Am I a part of some sect or cult? That sounds stupid to me. It’s ignorant to even say, and I guess that’ll be the last time I address that. It’s ignorant to me”
