No problem. I had a reminder set.
Without giving anything away. It leaves no question about who killed Hoffa and what they did with him.
I'm watching for the 2nd time. It's good enough to be considered a classic right out the gate.
Martin Scorsese literally Nailed It.

If you get a chance watch the presser...I watched It before and now after, I recommend watching It after. It just makes more sense.

If you'd have told me Scorsese and Pacino had never worked together, I'd have told you you're nutty af.

How do two guys who define a genre never work together over 50 years?

Pacino was just different. The Godfather made him a psychopath unto himself.
He has some really good stuff. He caught that bug that most of us could/would catch.... and he has a great wife, ex-wife, and kids.... He made it.
I love Him for everything he chose to be involved in.

Just so everyone knows,"With a gun, you charge... With a Knife, you run away!"

I thought it was meh.... Movie was putting me to sleep.

Let me guess, you're under 30?
No issue with that personally It's just a movie that Is for a lot of people probably born before <iframe src="https://giphy.com/embed/l41lP6SZetU5RdZdu" width="480" height="273" frameBorder="0" class="giphy-embed" allowFullScreen></iframe><p><a href="https://giphy.com/gifs/shia-labeouf-theater-allmymovies-l41lP6SZetU5RdZdu">via GIPHY</a></p>

This might be a bit much, but bear with me a minute.....
The Irishman.
@ about 1:11 in De Niro's character's Daughter, 'Peggy' asks her father "where are you going". Father' (De Niro) Frank states "going to work. GO Back to sleep".
Today as a dad people think the children need to know....
Not a sure coincidence that Kennedy was Killed shortly before....

It's a trilogy of emotion in that one phrase. I was told this same thing and I did what I was told.
I'm not that old, but the younger generation makes everyone older.....
With the impressionable kids that live today.. thanks... faceass, It's just harder.
I promise ya, you'll wish It was more like the past as well as I do... Soon enough.
Unions brought the government together and divided the people just as planned.

No, I’m almost 40. Acting was good but the movie was slow, boring and long. Just one guy’s opinion though, I’m sure others might have a different take.

I watched 90mins of it so far. Very solid, but less than I expected. Pacino and Deniro to me seem like they're playing characters they've played 10 times before. A lot less action than I thought.

It is done very well and has a great cast though. Going to finish late tonight post turkey coma and FB. Hope it amps up a bit in the last hour...

On the flip side, Pacino is the star of a new Jordan Peale series on Amazon next year called Hunters. Set in 1977, and about a group hunting Nazi war criminals. It does look like a departure from the typical Pacino role.

If you like the Godfather trilogy... You might like The Irishman. It's directed like Casino (people still question the validity of its truthfulness)... The Irishman has a modern flair that explains the Hoffa disappearance based on a guy named Frank Sheeran that confessed many things in his book.

Esquire has a decent rundown on the situation.
https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/movies/a29994076/frank-sheeran-jimmy-hoffa-the-irishman-true-story/
It disputes some content, altho; anyone that follows mob mentality understands the facts of... If your anybody of importance in the mob and get that call, your closest will be the one that taps your brain.

I'm a sucker for true stories that involve the mob and get brushed under the rug as Hollywood glitz.

Crazy Joe.
He is Sebastian Maniscalco. He's a comedian and has a special on Netflix as a stand-up Comedian. He's got a great bit, and If you enjoy that, Howard Stern also Interviewed him back about a year ago. It was the first time I heard the Irishman was gonna be a movie.

Another interesting tidbit Is about a very good character on the music scene....
Ed Sheeran: (might be related to Frank)

Huh?? Casino is Hollywood obviously and has a ton of composite characters and such but compared to most other films on historical topics it's one of the better films in terms of historical accuracy. I'm a sports and mob history nerd and have read numerous books on that era of Vegas and the mob, many read like book version of the moive Casino and some were put out prior to the film.

Peaky Blinders was very hard to get involved with. I tried a few times but had to have some alone time....
I played it in the background while doing dishes, vacuuming, dusting my middle-aged ass off....

Found interest at the end of the first season. Began watching episode 2 of 2nd season then had to go back.
Watched it from the beginning and It might be up there at the top IMO... Just finished episode 4 of the 2nd season. Great character development.
It's tough to get over the old-time way and slow start but ya gotta love It's opined behaviorism....

I finished watching. I enjoyed it, because I like mobster stuff, but it was too long. A few scenes were drug out longer than they should have been.

To the bolded part. So many different stories of where he's buried. Here's a recent story from a mafia guys son.

I saw that DeNiro got snubbed by the GGs. The movie was nominated, and so was Pacino and Pesci. The only winner I see is Pesci. IMO DeNiro and Pacino were solid, but were to similar to roles they've played before. More rinse and repeat.

I bet DeNiro went on a serious rant, and blamed Trump for the snub lol.

Pacino was solid in the prison scene eating the ice cream, but overall it was something of a rinse and repeat. His character would have been helped if they had done some scenes of Hoffa working behind the scenes manipulating the unions money and some of the conflicts he dealt with.

Not Netflix, but I'm a few episodes into Reprisal on Hulu. It is good so far. Definitely getting a "The Warriors" kinda vibe.

Watched the first two episodes of The Confession Killer last night. Pretty interesting so far. Texas Rangers are up to some shady business. Looking forward to jumping into episode 3 this evening.

Binged on Bad Blood this weekend. Story is based on the Rizzuto family and drug trades in Montreal. Not as good as Sopranos, but decent. BTW.....Anna Hopkins is smokin'.

Binged the whole thing two weekends ago. Really interesting stuff. It was before my time so I had no idea it got that big.

It was good. I'm not sure where S1 stopped and S2 started as it streamed from one episode to the other. The dynamics changed considerably as Declan (Coates) was taking over Ruizzi's operation then ran into the Italian mafia who was trying to take over from him.

Not sure if the drug trade or the mafia interest you the most, or maybe both. If it's the drug trade, watch Narcos if you haven't. Crazy how much money Escobar made and the length he went to to hide his money and all of his safe houses with escape tunnels.

If it's more mafia related, try reading the Valachi Papers. the movie from 1972 doesn't do it the justice. The government had an idea, but weren't aware how organized the mafia was until he became the first to rat on the mob.

"Joseph Michael Valachi (September 22, 1904 – April 3, 1971) was an American gangster in the Genovese crime family who is notable as the first member of the Italian-American Mafia to acknowledge its existence publicly. He is credited with popularization of the term cosa nostra."

If you are looking for a great show, check out FAUDA. It's amazing. Easily one of the best shows on TV right now. Although it is subtitled. Also check out LUTHER, easily one of the best cop shows of the past ten years.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2rm_4e3iYQ

Love both of them. Fauda S3 should be coming out in the next 3-4 months. Love Raz and both female leads are smoking. The gritty look at both sides takes it to another level. Hated the losses at the end of S2.

Luther is incredible too. Love the darkness, and the cast. I think this last season was it's last, but wouldn't be shocked if they did more given the low episode counts. Will miss Wilson.

If you like great foreign TV and aren't turned off by subs (some are in English), check out the following (no order). Every single one I've listed is fantastic.

1. Forbrydelsen (the original Danish noir "The Killing")
2. Broen / Bron (the original Danish / Swedish noir "The Bridge"
3. The Tunnel (English / French remake of Broen / Bron above)
4. Dark (German sci-fi)
5. The Returned (French sci-fi)
6. Trapped (Icelandic Noir)
7. Love/Hate (Irish organized crime)
8. Modus (Swedish noir)
9. Hinterland (Welsh dark crime - English and Welsh versions)
10. Shetland (Scottish crime)
11. Wallander (There are both Swedish and English versions, both are good)
12. Gomorra (Italian organized crime)

I'm watching Spiral (French Crime) and Thou Shalt Not Kill (Italian Crime) right now and both are very good.

Here's a look at Fauda S3.

Been wanting to watch S2 for a while now, just way too many options on my list lol. Currently trying to get through two foreign series, and was planning to start His Dark Materials and Watchman over the holidays.

Might have to watch it while I'm working on mom's house during the holidays as it's not as deep as teh two I listed above.

Yeah, before my time too and had know idea as well.

I thought it was pretty good, certainly interesting. Hard to believe the Rangers didn't catch on (or chose not to) after soooo many confessions. Felt bad for the victim's families. It's too bad the head Ranger has already passed as I would have like to hear what he had to say about everything.
