Right. I always interpret hair metal as the beginning of the end for classic rock. There were still some of those bands around, but hair metal was taking over, and it stops that genre.

I would also say that those you listed, while all part of different rock genres, were/are part of what I would label as the alt rock "era."

Listen to this man. He knows what he's talking about........Big Hair bands are not part of classic rock.

Never understood how RHCP became so popular. Every song sounds the same. 90's alternative/grunge rivals 60's & 70's rock and this is coming from a guy that grew up listening to the 60's & 70's rock.

Kiss's first album was awesome. Came out in 74, but didn't discover it till around 80. Strutter, Deuce, Cold Gin... Didn't get the radio play in the mid 70s as it was a littl e

I have trouble deciding which of the two is the absolute worst band of all time - Queen or Kiss. Both make my ears bleed.

I'll give you Kiss, they're not everyone's cup of tea. Queen though? Freddie Mercury was probably one of, if not "the," greatest front man of all time. Had an amazing voice, and Queen's set at Live Aid is considered the greatest live gig ever played by many in the industry. They completely and unexpectedly stole the show:

The band hated that movie, as did most fans. That's what happens with you Cali a NY rock band. Hannah Barbera produced it. I think it also was the beginning of the band falling out with their manager (who pushed the idea) who they fired a bit later.

I liked Van Halen but didn’t own any of their albums. I also listened to and still listen to a lot of Motown and other soul music.

I didn't really discover VH til 81ish after hearing my cousins rock them out occasionally. Same ones that turned me on to Kiss.

I still listen to a lot of Motownl. And Jazz, and Blues, and Rap, and Country, and fill in the blank. My most listened to playlist is about 300 songs including all the above.

Yeah, Zep won, which is perfectly acceptable. I would have also accepted Aerosmith. Beatles got way too much love. They may have inspired a lot of rock and roll, but you rarely actually hear any of their stuff in Classic Rock playlists/radio.

It's really hard for anyone to argue with Zep being somewhere in the top couple. Beatles are more pop imo. It all really hangs on your def of classic rock, which I think varies widely.
