We watched a different game:
1. Kelly called an aggressive pass game and Golson under threw open receivers downfield in single coverage. Had he led those receivers and completed those passes we would have had two long gains in the 1st half, which would have helped us immensely.
2. Motta was consistently put into perfect position by Diaco's blitzes, but Lacy and Yeldon were too quick for him. He simply was not the kind of difference maker we needed at safety tonight.
Ding, Ding, Ding!!! Motta played and outstanding game, and showed that he has the will. The problem was that he didn't have the athletic ability or the strength to stop their running attack.
To those of you that are discrediting Manti, shame on you. Think of where we would be today without him. He has been the shining light in our program since he has been here, and something I would want my children to model after. He played his heart out tonight for "Our team"!
Our team was outmatched today by a superior opponent. From the snap this game was decided, and it is as simple as that. Alabama is in a class of its own. Sure, they were taken in by complacency (LSU and Texas A&M), but most teams are. Hell, we should have lost to Pitt if it weren't for some gracious missed calls.
This program is moving in the right direction and we are seeing growth and development as we speak. This is a far cry from the Davie, Willingham, and Weis eras.
We are going to return, and kick other teams in the mouth. This is the creation of a monster we are witnessing at this very moment, and if I am not right you may call me out in the future. We will be dominant, and destroy all opponents! We have witnessed greatness, and will achieve it shortly. MARK MY WORDS!!!
