I think a lot of it is which thread something is said in. The mods appear to have decided to let almost anything, no matter how inappropriate, go in the political threads but don't put up with much nonsense elsewhere.

Political threads have been Thunderdome rules since they were removed from the front page.

The extent of moderating required is insane, and not worth our time, tbh. Everyone is those threads acts like assholes, it is what it is
