Cig feels like a more egotistical BK. He's an ass, and he's made IU fans somehow intolerable when they were an afterthought. They were crowing after we stomped them in South Bend in the playoff, thinking it was a close game because they scored a bunch of points in garbage time. Like, hey IU fans, we didn't even attempt a pass of more than 10 yards until there were 6 minutes left in the 4th! We got bored, we were already up 17 at the time!

I love Lane, totally on the Lane Train in general but I think he’s a bad cultural fit for ND. I don’t think it’s a disaster or anything but some guys are just fits in certain places. Hard to imagine Lane trolling Cristobal’s man boobs in one tweet and then extolling the virtues of the ND culture and degree in the next lol.
I’m all confused. You love Lane (the former USC coach), but hate Cig? Am I reading correctly?

Correct. Lane is just a troll but he feels authentic, for better or worse. I also don't hold his USC tenure against him because it was so long ago and he never really did anything of note against us.

I didn't like Lane when he was at USC either, but I feel like these days he enjoys trolling Brian Kelly and that's not a bad thing. I feel like he's loosened up a bit and he generally doesn't come off like a prick. Cig comes off like a egotistical braggart that hasn't really proven much and he talked shit about ND....so fuck 'em.

You and I must see things much differently because Lane to me is a child still playing with kids by trolling. Cig is straight business who doesn’t play childish games. Man vs boy in other words. If I was a recruit, that’s how I’d see it, anyways.

I think what might be going unnoticed is the behind the scene of this fake tough guy. I bet their practices are absolutely brutal because fake arrogant supposed tough guys tend to practice what they preach.

And that shit sucks. But making practice harder than the game, makes the game easier.

I served under a ton of phony tough guys in the Marines (and of course, many legitimate tough guys) and those guys were the worst. Pointless shit just for the sake of proving how hard they were. The real ones, the leaders I respected that made us better were tough but productive.

We'll see what Cig does in the playoffs if/when he finds himself down multiple scores late in a game. Tough guy wasn't so tough when the other team could hit back and all of his shit talking evaporated into thin air.

Kiffin, love him or hate him, is extremely aggressive in his playcalling and going for it on 4th. He iced the game against BK doing that. I don't mind a shit talker, but you better live up to it.

Kiffin does his trolling after the games and it mostly seems lighthearted. He doesn't actually do a lot of bragging or running his mouth.

First and foremost, thank you for your service. You keeping us safe isn’t something I’ll never take lightly. Thank you.

This isn’t the Marines, however. It’s only football (thankfully). You’ve certainly have encountered many leaders of men, and, on the other hand as you note, some not so much although they were entitled.

Some leaders can convince their players to run through a brick wall, most can’t. Cig absolutely can.

My apologies as I must be missing something. Are we talking about the same Lane Kiffin that Daniel Tosh made a punchline?

The Kiffin who big leagued Vandy after a year?

The Kiffin who USC left on the Tarmac?

Just want to make sure we’re on the same page.

And yes, Cig over Tosh.0 every day of the week

Woof. Wisconsin has only scored more than 14 points twice this season: against Miami OH and MTSU. They are averaging fewer than 7 points per game against P4.

Wisconsin once dropped 83 on Indiana. The game on November 15th might be interesting.

Indiana dropped 63 on the coach who did that.

If you can’t get people to tune into Nebraska - USC, the B1G has a TV problem. They are officially irrelevant as just helmets. People only care if they are good again, and nobody truly believes they are. If I’m the B1G commish I start asking your second tier brands why they aren’t spending more to win and scheduling bigger games to impress the average viewer more. This was with the YouTube TV dispute!

I've found it interesting that the Big Ten tends to usually air their biggest game of the week at noon.

Can't remember who it was, but they made a good point about ABC/ESPN possibly getting ratings boost by scheduling back to back good games and people just staying on the channel. Where Big Ten is making people switch back and forth between CBS, BTN, and NBC.

Yeah, I mean tbh that's usually what happens at my house other than the ND game where I'll switch to that specifically.

So with the SEC going to 9 conference games next year and the requirement of an additional power 4 team

Followed by the ACC doing the same - 9 +1

And the Big 12 already abiding by the 9 + 1 model….

That just leaves the big with 9 conference games and NO OTHER REQUIREMENT - and 6/18 or 33% of the conference: Penn St, Indiana, Maryland, NW, Rutgers, and Washington did just that, 2 group of 6 and FCS OOC games.

When will the pressure to change scheduling to follow the other 3 conferences and play 10 power 4 games be great enough to enact change?

The last time the Big Ten claimed three titles consecutively was from 1940 through 1942, when Minnesota won two and the Buckeyes earned their first.

Purdue AD discusses future B10 expansion.

“There’s just not teams that are going to add value equivalent to what they would take from the whole. We are 18 members now, we each share 1/18 of the annual revenue pot. If you bring somebody in, they’ve got to pay for themselves, plus keep everybody else whole. It’s a pretty tall order."

“So, who’s going to really add that kind of value? We all know who the one is. I don’t need to say it, but that’s a different conversation.”

I think we all know who that one school is...
