Jones has been at at least two of the other stops Te'o had been this week. They have spent a lot of time together. Both have mentioned the other in acceptance speeches too in friendly trash talk.

When I first watched it I swore he was calling Fowler a punk for asking the question he asked. Seemed like Fowler was suggesting that Manti was doing this award tour by himself, and he deflected and mentioned Jones and how they'd held up together alright. He then looked to Jones and mouthed "punk."

I guess I can't figure out how he'd a) deflect Fowler's question to mention Jones and then b) turn to immediately call Jones a punk (in a playfully competitive context).

Hmmph.
