I feel even better now. I like how his whole shtick last year was picking against us. "Our model says ND is gonna lose." Well, your model sucks ass, my guy. Can't remember if he was smug when it was finally right against OSU. I'm sure at this point he does it just to drive traffic by riling up fans.
At some point I think he straight up said he didn’t want to jinx us so he’d keep picking against us. I’ll take it.

I have a buddy who is a Miami fan and he thinks our secondary is overrated because they didn’t play many prolific passing offenses last year.

We’ll see what happens Sunday

I know we all get caught in our fandom and convince ourselves that our teams will be better each year no matter the logic but holy crap they are on a new level. If ND had lost their all time leading receiver along with the 5 next best pass catchers AND the number one draft pick, I don’t think we’d be pounding our chest. Could they win? Absolutely but if ND plays a clean game and forces a few turnovers it more than likely a blow out. Miami is going to need Carr to shit himself to have a chance IMO

I might be insanely over confident, but I think we’re going to roll over them from the third quarter on.
Same, but earlier. Beck blows if you get pressure on him. We know what we have in the stable at RB. The big unknown is CJ, hopefully hes up to the challenge. All I see is another shitty, over ranked team from the U.

This is what I’ve been waiting for. How many times have we seen Alabama or Georgia dominate their “good” week one opponent to send a message to college football. I’m thinking Alabama vs USC and Georgia vs Oregon. The great teams dominate a team like Miami and I can’t wait for this game to see where we stand.

Agree. It won't be as close as the final score shows. I think it will be close the first half and we'll dominate in the second half with the running game.

I mean this is at least somewhat true. We literally didn’t have a CB3 which USC used to just gas Moore & Gray. The difference in this game though is Moore & Gray are a year older + you can reasonably gamble one or more of Hobbs/Golden/Zackery/Thomas will be a viable player. Also Miami’s WRs are not at the USC or potentially even Louisville level. So will Miami’s passing attack be more of a challenge than our average game last year? Yes. But it will not be prolific.

Tend to agree that playing 2 option teams helped our pass defense stats significantly, but opponent adjusted we were still one of the best units in the country.

The more I've thought about this game, the more confident I become of ND blowing their doors off. This has ND vs Bama 2012 national championship vibes, only ND is the Bama in this story.

I agree slightly, but they also weren’t playing bums.

Penn State has Drew Allar, who is widely considered a top QB prospect in the 26 draft. Unable to complete a single pass to a WR? I’m sure the secondary didn’t play into that at all.

Georgia had Beck/Stockton and they won the SEC. Beck is now their starter, so are they admitting their QB isn’t a prolific thrower? Having to replace their top 6 pass catchers surely won’t help the situation.

They had a rough day against Jeremiah Smith and the front 7 wasn’t doing the secondary any favors against USC.

None of this matters if the front 7 can't get pressure, because Beck is good enough to make every throw if he has the time, and besides Moore nobody can cover for 10 seconds.

However Beck sees ghosts 9/10 times when he is pressured. Get to him and watch him fold like a cheap ping pong table when my uncle dove on it after 14 Genny Cream Ales circa 1992.

I do think we are going to wear them out and roll over them in second half
This is really the biggest concern for Miami I would think. Their front line guys are good enough to beat ND. But their depth is not good at any position really.

ND has enough DL depth to basically run hockey line changes all game and just wear them out. It sounds like ND is going to rotate a little at OL too. Miami is relying on basically an entire secondary of transfers, coming from varying levels of competition. They will see a bunch of different physical and fast receivers all day. And of course the running backs will rotate and run through them all day.

Miami probably needs to get up by a couple scores and then hold on for dear life.

Not doubting, just curious, where are you seeing information that says ND will be rotating at OL? Did I miss something?

I think we stomp and win by 3 TDs....

Cane fan coming in here in as much.. peace as I possibly can ( dodges beer bottle tossed at the head )

I don't understand why you lot are calling miami delusional when posting something like this. The most important position on your team hasn't thrown a single pass... and we're gonna get stomped? I hope cristobal isn't THAT bad, sheesh

anyway, Good luck to you guys, part of me wishes you had taken down ohio state because them and bama are the worst cheats in this sport. Them along with georgia ruined the sport and caused the NIL to come alive. Now it's a shit show of who can pay the most money rather than recruiting and development.

My thoughts:

I know we don't play the greatest regular season schedule but man oh man looking at your 2024 schedule: florida state, stanford and purdue are the worst teams in the sport right now. They're just embarrassing and seeing stanford lose to hawaii like they just did, double yikes. Then you also had army and navy on your schedule. Best win was clearly the aggies with a brand new head coach in his first game. Other than that you won by a TD vs a 4 loss louisville team, and the 3rd best win i guess would be a 6 loss usc team.

You guys seem to have a ton of confidence in this run game that mustered 53 yards in the championship. Love had 46 yards vs penn state, and is not even in the stat sheet for the playoffs. Miami fans are saying this guy is the truth, that doesn't look like a whole lot of truth. Was he fighting injuries? Vs fsu he average 3 yards a carry, same vs louisville. I was expecting to be blown away by this guy the way miami fans talk about him, looks like a non-factor.

The crap of some of you talk about beck is pretty irrational, and that's coming from someone that didn't like us getting him. Georgia led the country in drops while having a rushing game that ranked 105th in the nation. I'm not sure what you expect someone to do in that situation?

Anyway as for miami:

Lance guidry should never coach at a high level of football ever again, that is the worst defensive coordinator I've ever seen. The defense will be better because that's simply the only direction it can go. Cam ward basically walked onto the field every time knowing if he didn't score a touchdown we would lose. Our offensive coordinator dawson is starting to really show his worth considering every single WR that ward threw to has been cut from nfl rosters. Number 1 offense in football with zero NFL WR's on it, that's earning your money right there. All of that is a mute point as of today, the entire secondary is 4 stars and up and is basically a new roster.

There's not a doubt in my mind who has the better head coach, and it's not cristobal. Never wanted him, still don't as he's done nothing at this level to earn 10 million a year for 8 years. His time at oregon gave him unlimited money in a terrible conference. He's been exposed for not being what his reputation is, saban's own words once said he's the greatest recruiter in the country. Well how hard is it to recruit during prime bama years and unlimited nike money? Now he's got a top 5 NIL money down at miami and he's in his 3 year coming off 3 losses with rather un-spectacular recruiting classes. Ward didn't play the 2nd half of the bowl game, so to be fair it would have been 2 losses but it's still not acceptable.

This is his THIRD defensive coordinator already, he simply doesn't have it unfortunately.

I guess a lot of you weren't down there in 2017 for that game, that stadium is the most hostile in the country for big games. The previous game to that was vs va tech and it was nearly as loud for that game. This is going to be the real factor just like it was in 2017, because we probably lose that game on a neutral field and instead it's 34-0 in the 3rd quarter.

The poster on the front page that said you're walking into a hornets nest is right, this isn't gonna be any different atmosphere wise than 2017. Some tickets are going for $10k, I just don't see a qb with no experience going into this and coming out with a win. If you're going to this game I highly advise you to bring serious ear protection. During warm ups in 2017 you already couldn't hear the person next to you.

they also weren’t playing bums.

We absolutely played a large amount of certified bums last season.

That doesn’t mean our secondary wasn’t good. But I also won’t pretend you can’t poke holes in a decent amount of games. Reality is everyone that plays 16 or whatever games caught a break at some point somewhere. We got nailed by injuries. We also played some awful offenses. Doesn’t change the results either way.
