9. Notre Dame (9): Navy nearly shipwrecked the Irish for the second week in a row, but the Irish held on to beat the Mids 24-17. There's a chance the Irish fall a spot or two for playing Navy so closely, but it's more likely they stay at No. 9.

Somebody could jump the Irish but quite a few other BIG FAVs struggled or lost, OKS

#9 ND was a multi-TD fav over Navy and won by 7.

#10 OKS was a multi-TD fav over KSU, 6-5, and LOST by 5.

#11 TCU slugged TT, 5-6, 27-3

#12 USC was a multi-TD fav over UCLA, 5-6, and won by 5 due to a slick trick punt return. UCLA had 2 red zone turnovers.

#13 PSU rolled over cupcake Nebraska, 4-7.

#14 UCF beat Temple, 5-6, 45-19.

#15 WSU DNP.

#16 UW was losing to Utah, 5-5, by 30-23 with 4 minutes to play and UW lost the ball on downs at Utah's 9. Utah couldn't run out the clock and UW got the ball back and scored for the tie and won on a FG as time expired, 33-30. Earlier in the game UW missed a FG and an XP. They also gave up a First Down on a Fake Punt during a 4Q Utah TD drive.

#17 MSST won by 7 over hapless Arkansas, 4-7.

#18 Memphis beat SMU, 6-5, in a shootout 66-45.

#19 Michigan LOST
to Wisconsin 24-10.

#20 Stanford was a multi-TD fav over

great overview...I think Ohio State jumps ND, maybe another might as well ...9/10 is where this ends up this week. So, Unless ND takes Stanford to the wood shed in an historic fashion...because of conference championships, it is realistic the regular season finish is outside the top 10.

...which is way better than I thought at the beginning of the season.

I'll be honest though...my disappointment stems from how they've shown up to work the last two weeks...Win convincingly against Stanford and win a NY6 bowl...then good season with team on the right trajectory...A great story, and a boon for recruiting.

Finish poorly with a marginal win or loss against Stanford and drop a bowl game...the team's record will have met expectations, but they won't get the recruiting benefit because of how it happened.

The next two games should offer PLENTY to play for, and I hope they stop coming out flat.

I’m not even confident we win next week, but if we do IDK who I would want in a BCS bowl. Other than PSU, and maybe Wisconsin, I don’t really like any of the match ups. Even worried about UCF, if we play them undefeated it will be their Super Bowl and biggest game in program history and we know how games like those play out for us in recent memory

I see ND staying put, TCU would be the only one I see possibly jumping ND.

Wouldn't it be nice if the CFB committee dropped every team that played a DII opponent a couple spots? Really, second to last game of the regular season and you are playing Mercer, Louisiana-Monroe and Citidel against top 10 teams? Just take the f-ing week off instead, what's the point of counting that as an actual game?

No way ND takes a hit for playing Navy, a team that has flirted with a top 25 position.

This is why the conference title games being a "13th data" point is the biggest crock of sh*t argument ever. Look for instance at Clemson, a team that if we were 10-1, we'd be worried about going up against for a playoff spot. They played Kent State and The Citadel. Alabama played Fresno St., Colorado St., and Mercer. Oklahoma played UTEP and Tulane while playing their utter garbage Big XII schedule with zero defense on tap. Wins against FCS schools shouldn't count.

What grinds my gears is that people are already talking tOSU for the playoffs. With 2 BLOW out losses, one to a marginal Top25 team there is a path for them to make it.

And I agree. Non-BCS schools should count as half wins and should be punished accordingly. This is why I laugh at people when they hammer ND for not being in a conference and not playing through a conference slate of games.

And your post was probably copy/pasted in some team's message board as to why ND fans are delusional. Clemson is within 5 spots of ND in SOS. You mentionvTulane above like they are an Ivy League school. They lost to Navy in Annapolis by just 2 points... and ND had THREE teams worse than Navy on their schedule in '17. Surprisingly you didn't single out Iowa who's the annual poster child for easy schedules but even though they started off the season with perennial whipping boys, Wyoming, Iowa St & N.Tex.St while playing in the FCS level B1G-W, they are two spots higher than ND in SOS.

In regards to the sucky Big 12... OU played Ok St and TCU the weeks ND played WF and Miami. IF ND plays the exact same way against those two teams, they would have been 0-2 instead of 1-1. You don't come out against OK St and not play D for a half and get out with a win unless you can score 60+.

ND gets it's games off too.

Projecting the many changes in the new AP Top 25 poll college football rankings after Week 14
Chip Patterson 1h ago

Here's how we think the new AP Top 25 will look on Sunday:
1. Clemson (Previous ranking -- 1): With Kelly Bryant playing at a high level, there's no longer any doubt that the 2017 Tigers can accomplish everything the previous two teams have done with Deshaun Watson under center.
2. Oklahoma (2): Baker Mayfield likely locked up his Heisman Trophy with an explosive performance against TCU in the Big 12 title game, and the Sooners should enter the College Football Playoff with national title expectations.
3. Georgia (6): While the depth at running back helped Georgia ice the game, the MVP for the Bulldogs has to be the way that defense responded to a blowout loss in the first matchup against Auburn. Georgia gets a bump up in the rankings after its first SEC Championship in more than a decade.
4. Auburn (4): I expect the AP voters to give Auburn some extra consideration for Kerryon Johnson's status, keeping the Tigers pretty high in the rankings (but behind Georgia) after Saturday's loss to the Bulldogs.
5. Alabama (5): Off
6. Ohio State (8): Who knows if Ohio State will end up making the playoff, but the Buckeyes did all they could to flex their athleticism and team speed on a big stage to try and recapture that 2014 feeling in the final data point for the selection committee. If not for a couple of turnovers and bad mistakes, the Buckeyes might have been able to put a more impressive result on the scoreboard.
7. UCF (12): A late surge in the final AP poll of the regular season would not be surprising for college football's lone undefeated team. The voters could see it as some kind of bonus for a team that will fall short of the College Football Playoff and saw its head coach officially make his 2018 plans (heading to Nebraska) known shortly after the win.
8. Wisconsin (3): The Badgers got some first-place votes from the AP voters a week ago, but looked so out of place against Ohio State that I think a drop is coming after Sunday morning's balloting.
9. Miami (7): A healthy Miami team could have hung with Clemson, but the Hurricanes don't quite have the program depth to sustain the injuries they've suffered late in the year and maintain championship-caliber football.
10. Penn State (9): Off
11. USC (11): Winning the Pac-12 title was the best possible scenario for the Trojans after two losses in the first two months of the season, with those defeats keeping USC out of the College Football Playoff picture. But credit Clay Helton and this group for taking care of business down the stretch and notching the Pac-12 South's first win in the Pac-12 title game.
12. TCU (10): After getting pasted by Oklahoma in the Big 12 title game, it wouldn't be a huge surprise to see AP voters make a slight adjustment to the Horned Frogs' ranking.
13. Stanford (14): Bryce Love is a special player and K.J. Costello did his best to set up the Cardinal with a chance to win, but this year's team just hasn't had the strength in the trenches as some of the previous teams that have been in Pac-12 title contention.
14. Memphis (16): The Tigers were every bit of UCF's equal in the American Athletic Conference title game and while they too might be dealing with a head coaching transition in the near future the performance on Saturday will probably result in a bump from the voters.
15. Washington (13): Off
16. Notre Dame (15): Off
17. LSU (17): Off
18. Oklahoma State (18): Off
19. Michigan State (19): Off
20. Northwestern (20): Off
21. Washington State (21): Off
22. Virginia Tech (22): Off
23. South Florida (23): Off
24. Mississippi State (24): Off
25. Boise State (NR): After knocking off Fresno State in the rematch of last week's, the Mountain West champion Broncos are likely to take their spot in the top 25.
Projected dropped out: Fresno State (25)
