The final 10 minutes of the episode was very good. That was shocking. XXX is one of my favorite characters and definitely did not see it coming. But the way he went out was amazing and in my mind pretty heroic. Would have loved to see him evolve into a wrecking ball of a warrior but hey I guess you can only have one character that is good with a sword.
The way the YYYS were rolled out was frightening and thrilling. Props to all involved in that scene. Loved it.
ZZZ is back in action. Really curious to see how he ties in. Almost get the sense that he has this infatuation with the Grimes and I’m kind of hoping he takes this opportunity to do right and kind of look after Judith.
Daryl is still a badass.
Like the new additions. Stepped up in the end when they were getting “blitzed”. Some really good fighters there.
On the rift between colonies, Talking Dead says that what started it will be reviewed in the second half.
Going to miss XXX.
I had high hopes for XXX. I'm hopping ZZZ kidnaps Judith and turns her into an even bigger bad ass.
Last night was definitely a "wow" and surprising episode. And we haven't had one of those in years. I don't remember enough back watching season 1, but last night was also the scariest episode. 31 is correct in his his "frightening and thrilling" assessment.
I was bummed to see the character die. I think the manner in which he did enhanced my feeling of being upset.
I've loved this season so far, as it seems like we've finally moved on from some of the slowness of "Bad guy arc for 2 seasons." I'm a little skeptical that the 6 year lapse will be (and has for 3 episodes) drawn out too long.
Holy shit though- I have been debating since last night about reading up on the whisperers (I don't read the comics...and never will). Not sure I can wait 3 months to figure out what is going on!
I don't read the comics either, and don't read spoiler stuff, but I do know who is going to be the leader of the YYYs. And I think I'm going to love it. Great actor.
I think they had to kill off a relatively major character in order to make the Whisperers a legit threat. Although personally I think it should have been Aaron because I don't feel like he adds anything to the show.
The new characters aren't really doing it for me except for the deaf lady and her interpreter. The other 3 are either generic or hard to take seriously (looking at you chest tattoo lady).
It's absolutely inevitable that Rick will be back eventually. It will probably be a cliffhanger at the end of next season. Never believe anything the producers tell you because they have proved time and time again that they are ratings whores and will blatantly lie to get you to watch an episode. Norman Reedus can only carry the show so far.
the new guys aren't doing it for me either. not sure if Rick will be back, unless it's literally the last season.
Characters that add very little to the show (in no particular order) but would at least make for interesting deaths:
Tara
Aaron
Ezekiel (I think his story has panned out and he stopped being relevant. Him dying would actually be interesting as how it affects Carol)
I was hoping Tara or Aaron. Or even Gabriel or Eugene would have been better than losing XX. My least favorite major characters in order.
Aaron - just F'ing boring
Tara - all around meh
Gabriel - was hoping to see more of the Gabriel/Jadis story.
Ezekiel - could be a good character with better writing IMO. We need bad ass EZ
Eugene - he's improved a bit. was growing tired of his smart guy quirky routine...
