Anyone Watching "Walking Dead" on AMC?

So Rick is gone after Season 9, and will appear in just 6 episodes. Rumour is Maggie is gone too, also appearing in 6 Episodes.

Honestly I think it's for the best. Rick's character is tired and worn out. I would be surprised if Maggie left in the same year, but again, her character has been pretty boring too.

Hoping they take some big steps away from the status quo. A new story line is desperately needed. Negan was a welcome fresh breath, so I hope they find a new way to take advantage of his character. Bottom line, I think we'll see another big name or two join the cast like FTWD. Perhaps someone from FTWD will pop up on TWD.

I look forward to a fresh new start if that's what is intended.

Comic Chris Hardwick loses show and Comic-Con panels over abuse allegations | Fox News

Hardwick gone. I hope they find a replacement instead of killing the show as reported.

Never been a fan of Hardwick. He's always come off as an ass, and he doesn't know the proper pronunciation for .gif. I quit watching Talking Dead, the show had become damn near pointless to watch. Other than a sneak preview and a quick behind the scenes that was occasionally interesting, the rest of the show was mindless drivel where he asked stupid questions like "What was your character thinking there?" or "What do you think happened to so-and-so?" and of course the actors can't divulge crap so the whole thing is pointless. The only thing that saved the show was when they had an interesting guest that interjected humor. I quit DVRing though, the decent shows were too few and far between...kind of like how TWD has become. I'm in that one for the long haul though it seems.

I really only watched when 1) they had a good guest, 2) the TWD or FTWD episode was off the hook, or a premier or finale, or 3) I didn't understand something and needed to find a clue. Not really a fan of his either, but like having the availability of a breakdown if needed. There are plenty of folks that they killed off who are likely looking for work and a lot better than Hardwick!

What if Michael Cudlitz started hosting?

That would be awesome and my first choice. Scott Wilson would also be good.

Hershel would be cool, but I'm not sure if he has the energy and charisma to be host though. He'd work better as a guest I think, or working as a sidekick maybe (The Ed McMahon to Johnny Carson?)

I figure Cudlitz would be a good host since it doesn't seem he's had any long running obligations since TWD, and he could bring both a unique voice to the series and entertainment. He may not be enough button down for a host role though...and that's why I think it would be enjoyable. Traditional, dorky hosts are plain and boring. Abraham using unique swears as a host? Gold. That's why they'll never do it.

My guess is they'll see if fan fanatic Yvette Nicole Brown will start hosting.

Actually I think if they do reboot it, they will go with someone less buttoned up. Hardwick was very unimpressive. They need personality, and someone that has history. Cudlitz would be perfect. YNB would be a huge yawn....

Yeah, I agree on YNB. The problem is she's the kind of Walking Dead cheerleader that I could see execs hiring to take Hardwick's spot. Hardwick was always the cheerleader too.

With both shows going through so many changes, I think they need grit, and a draw for fans. But yes, I can see execs going the YNB path. It would be silly cheering, less cost, and a PC hire.

Ruben Blades and Mercedes Mason would be home runs too. Especially Ruben Blades. Mason would bring some hotness I'd tune it for.

They should just have Hardwick as the new Rick. Smooth transition, nobody would notice.

Called it, she took over his duties at Comic Con, but it's all moot since he's coming back I guess. I'm disappointed, not because I thought he was guilty or innocent. I just don't like Hardwick, period. His personality is so annoying. He over hypes everything, he's pretentious, and most importantly...he doesn't say .gif correctly.

I am a bit surprised AMC decided to make the controversial decision to bring him back though. There were plenty of options that would have been fine and not drawn more criticism.

Did you follow any of the drama surrounding him? Sounds like his ex was full of shit.

Yup. Sounded a little crazy. If she's truly full of shit, I feel bad for the guy.

Yup on all accounts. I was hoping for a few of the names we discussed earlier. I think I prefer Hardwick to YNB though. I think they are having a pre-season show this week or next, so it should be interesting. Perhaps Koon can get a guest spot and tell everyone to wear green lol..

FTWD - mid season premier tonight. Marathon of the fist 8 episodes going on now. I hope they are done with all the time shifting crap now that the new character's back stories are understood.

TWD - they showed a pretty lengthy trailer of the new season starting next month. Looks pretty good, and different.

Any truth to the rumor that TWD will show Negan’s backstory and that is late wife will be played by Halle Barry?

Doubt it. Assume you are talking about the fan-made video that samples vids from JDM and HB's series Extant.

didn't hear that on the trailer, but I do recall some podcast or video on TWD talking about talking walkers. Will try to listen to the trailer again and find the article or vid from a few years back.

Season premier tonight.... last season's extended finale is on now.

Rick's last episodes....

I like the civil war build up, assuming that's what is suppose to happen.

Any thoughts on Rick's last episode, and the news of the movies expanding the TWD universe. While I wasn't all that impressed with the episode itself, loved the ending.

Just watched it. I liked the episode itself at first, but wasn't expecting the ending. I almost wish they would have left it as it was, that would have been an excellent way to end it for him. At first I was like "Really, they're getting rid of him?" And then I kind of made peace with it and the episode with all the callbacks was pretty good I thought (Shane was awesome!). Then the ending came and I was like...."Really?" So, I assume this is going to setup some other actor to take his place.

I was kind of ready just to be done with the show tbh, I was kind of just holding on till the Negan story resolved itself, then they were starting the season by promoting "Andrew Lincoln's final episodes," and I told myself "Alright, the show is probably going to tank at this point, might as well see him go out." Then they end the episode like that. I was kind of disappointed at this point, all that build up for nothing really. Regardless, I think the show hit it's apex during the Negan storyline and even though I have some insight to the talking walkers they teased at the end of the episode and that might be an okay story, I think the show is going to be on the downturn from here on out. I'll finish this season out and then determine if I want to keep devoting time to it. Right now I think this is the final lap for me though, I have no interest in movies and I've given up on the FtWD show.

I kind of expected something like what happened given the language they used on advertising, and on the Talking Dead. I actually liked it. I loved that they are moving ahead again, and Judith is now older and toting a gun and the hat.

I too, at the beginning of the year thought I might stop watching. I think I kind of dig the new direction. I've been a bit tired of Rick for a while, so his departure is fine with me. I wasn't unhappy with Karl leaving at all either. I'm ready for some new blood and new direction. And I'll enjoy the new movies.

Loved the episode.
I like that Rick is still “out there” somewhere. I’ll watch the movies.
Loved the Shane scene. Lovedwhen he yelled, “wake up” and it was just in time.
Got misty eyed during the reunite scenes with Hershel nd Sasha.
Would have loved to see some sort of reunion with Carl. Would have put it over the top for me.
Negan is still a bad ass character. Looking forward to seeing him back in the game.
Though a tad cheesy with some 8 year old plugging zombies from somewhere in the woods where the new group of 5 could not see who saved them, I love how they introduced bad ass Judith. Kid is cool as hell and that was a good finish to the night. She gets bonus points for being the actress who played toddler Rey in the Force Awakens.
Rick will be missed but I’m still a huge Daryl fan. Wish Carol was standing on the bridge at detonation. Negan will hopefully be of value. Need more bad ass Jesus too. He has potential. Eugene looks to be stepping it up. Rosita is bangin.
Bring on the Whisperers.
