There has been some serious chatter about them retconning the sequels. Shit like this gives me a glimmer of hope. Disney really has no reason to hold onto the sequels. They are universally hated. They don't even have a small rabid fanbase that would be upset about it like the prequels do.
Why not just retcon the prequels as well and start over? Keep the OG trilogy, Andor/Rogue One, and the first two seasons of Mando and jettison everything else.

Unless of course Lucas wrote keeping the prequels around into his sale to Disney.

I don’t think you can retcon the prequels even if not protected by paperwork with Lucas, imo. That’s Skywalker saga material that should stand as long as the OT stands.

Some of it is silly, some of it is unnecessary, and some dialogue is worse than scUM football, but it’s got a quality over-arching story that is integral to the base of everything they should work off of if they insist on involving OT characters in new IP.

Did you specify you were only talking about movies? Also seems like for better or worse Mando and Grogu is also a different direction.
the tv shows are not the backbone of Star Wars, are they? And I see nothing that indicates the movies are doing anything more than minor changes.

According to who? I enjoyed Andor more than any other Star Wars media released in my lifetime.

It’s the first Star Wars movie that’s disconnected from the Skywalker saga. It also appears to be more of the episodic mando space western than the galactic wars in 1-9. Not sure what you’re expecting? A rom com in the Star Wars universe?

Was Andor originally written for something else and then transferred into the Star Wars universe?

Actually what I would like is something with the energy and vibrancy of The New Hope.
and dude, the Movies have always been the backbone of Star Wars
Just like the TV shows were the backbone of Star Trek

The question dealt with whether Andor was written originally as Star Wars. Lucas did not start out with a samurai film that he later changed into Star Wars.

no, you just do not like the question.
and Lucas has admitted it was his inspiration
and if you have seen some of them you would understand that
but you seem incapable of such

You said Lucas repurposed Seven Samurai.

There’s a huuuuuuuuge difference between “repurposing” and “being inspired by.”

You two are fighting like R2D2 and C3PO

Fun fact about R2D2: Lucas designed him as a science fiction version of Alma, the nurse in Ingmar Bergman's 1966 psychological drama "Persona". He wanted R2D2 to be a caretaker for C3PO, and the plan was that he would begin having trouble distinguishing himself from C3PO after a shock from an electrical socket. Lucas was quoted as saying "Where Bibi Andersson walked, R2 will roll."

Of course, the source for all this can be found in my ass.

This is similar to how Lucas designed the millennium falcon as a science fiction version of chitty chitty bang bang, and George’s influence for Chewbacca was obviously Fozzie Bear.

I didn't know that but it explains why in his first draft the Wookies were called the WakaWakas.
Yes...yes...good...good...it was obvious the Muppets were the inspiration for Star Wars...C3POs mannerisms were based on Beaker, and the conversation style of Yoda on the Swedish chef...

Mando and Grogu has been getting blasted on social media. Not sure if it’s Actually Bad or if it’s just the algorithm designed to get reaction. Trying to convince my wife to take me on a date to see it either way lol

They could have had 2 more seasons of the show rather than this movie

guess what?
You can do both at the same time.
OBVIOUSLY Lucas repurposed medieval Japan with Galactic Republic, etc
Swords for Light sabers
BUT in many ways the same thing
for example, the honor, culture and insularity
and also they were loyal and obeyed the government
and in the end the government destroyed them

OBVIOUSLY you don’t have to be a dick in every single interaction you have with posters on this sight.
Italics for sarcasm, etc
Typing letters for long-winded dickishness
BUT in many ways the same thing
