Is there a weaker schedule in all the land?
Not many, but it's enough to keep Harbaugh around when he goes 8-4 or 9-3. Another year of subpar recruiting would really hurt the program. Then they'll go 6-6 the next year, probably fire Harbaugh, hire some "Michigan Man" to run them into the ground the next 4 years when it's really not his fault that Harbaugh left the cabinet empty.

I hate to say it but Michigan is going to very good again and anything worse than 10-2 will be very surprising. Next season they will probably see a big drop off, but don’t bank on it this season.

I’ve got 9-3. I’ve got them losing at Iowa and Ohio State and at home to Sparty. Their offense will be solid, but idk if their defense will be at the same level having lost Hutchinson and Ojabo.

But, I can still root for 6-6.

I would hope after looking at their schedule. When Maryland is probably the toughest game in September that’s all you need to know. They have a month of pre season games.

What motivated Harbaugh to repeat arguably BKs 2 worst moves at ND…but in the same 12 month span?

First, he interviews for an NFL job w/ the public (& UM fans) assuming he’s gone but he doesn’t get offered and has to return to UM w/ hat in hand and try to polish the turd convincing everyone (especially recruits) that not only does he want to be at UM but that he’s there for the forseeable future. RESULT: In what should’ve been a banner recruiting year thus far after the CFP appearance, it’s been a struggle and could really hamstring the team’s momentum.

Second, he can’t pull the trigger on the starting QB (ala BK in 2016). RESULT: TBD

Tell that to Chris Leak and Tim Tebow. Won a championship with that formula. It's certainly rare though.
Let me tell you a sad, sad story about a football game in Austin, TX to kick off ND's season on September 4, 2016.....

Both teams used a two quarterback plan that day and combined for 97 points. Adjusted for Brian Van Gorder, that's like combining for 76 points, which is still pretty good.
Both teams technically played 2 QBs, but Zaire was literally ineffective and 100% of our offensive production came from Kizer. No doubt in my mind we win that game if Bk gets out of his own way and just gives Kizer the reigns from the get.

Swoops was a glorified running back, just because he lined up at "QB" didn't make him one. Blake Bell was the same way in 2012 at OU. Hardly a two QB system, more of a jumbo package with an extra RB, IMO.

To be fair, Zaire only got a couple series, and at least one of them was killed by OL penalties that were out of his control. He had one drive that started on our 13 and he drove to within FG range, but we gave up a 5 yard loss on a run and then the OL had a false start that led to a punt.

In truth Zaire had lost a step since injury and the offense had been reconfigured to suit Kizer while Zaire was out. Unfortunately for Kizer he lost Fuller which was a huge part of the offense. We were breaking in an almost entirely new group of WRs with little experience (Much like 2020). By losing the ability to stretch the field it hurt not just the passing game, but the running game suffered too. Mustipher struggled to replace Nick Martin at times, he was often getting pushed into our own backfield after the snap. I won't even get into the defense that year. What a shit-show.

That's best case. Worst case is "Mom, Dad, Can you venmo me tuition?"
This is exactly what I thought. I dont have kids, but my mind goes straight to imagine learning you have to pay for tuition out of nowhere.

Unreal.

If that happened to my kid, I'll bring them home for a semester. I'm not giving a penny to that university.

And as Ulukinatme said, Fuck Michigan!

Their schedule sets them up for a decent record but I have a feeling they're in for a total butt kicking in Columbus this year as OSU has had a year to simmer about 2021

Call me a vengeful prick but I’m hoping Cade McNamara gets benched for JJ McCarthy and he spends the remainder of his career as a backup.

Honestly, his decommmentment was not a loss. He’s not elite. Harbaugh is a complete dumb ass for not starting McCarthy from the get-go this season. While faith is cool and everything using Solomon as your reasoning for not naming someone is bat shit. no wonder recruits don’t want to go there if he has to pray about who he’s going to play rather than assessing ability.

So in a very outmatched game vs CSU, you pull McNamara for McCarthy even though you said it was Cades showcase game? McNamara is a team captain. He did everything asked of him and more last year. McCarthy lost the MSU game. And I believe 60%+ when Cade was on the field it resulted in points. Weird times. After the Hawaii game McCarthy will be named started.
Cade then tranfers to MSU...

Sounds like Harbaugh was just looking for an excuse to start McCarthy and McNamara’s performance in their opener gave him all the cover he needs. He’ll probably play both in the Hawaii game, too; but it won’t matter. JJ will be the starter & Cade will transfer ASAP.

Perhaps that's why they made Cade captain? If he wasn't a captain, he'd have no hesitation leaving the program. If he's captain... might look much worse.
