I would love a rematch with them in a bowl game this year. Notre Dame should come into that game fired up and sealing revenge. If the team doesn’t play with a chip on their shoulder then there is something severely wrong with the program.

I might be dead by then...awful time to not show up indeed.

Fuck, I'm gonna be 51 now that I think about it...my boys, should they play and go to ND, won't even get a chance to suit up against Michigan. They will have just graduated, or at best my youngest could play one year against them

As soon as I saw that date, the first thing I thought was, "how old will I be?" and immediately thought there's a strong possibility I'd be watching our lads from my coffin. I wonder if I can get Comcast to install cable in my plot?

Right there with ya Irish#1. I have though already sent the dates to multiple nieces and nephews to make sure one or multiple ones come and visit me game day morning and pour me a few beers.

So many salty ND fans after the loss. I get the initial 24 hours or so after the game but my goodness. We got our ass kicked 3 days ago. Move on!

I appreciate IE because I can find more fans here than twitter who are mature enough to get over it.

This. It was a bad game, but it's not indicative of how good our team really is. It was bad weather, an away game, and against a rival. We didn't show up, simple as that. I think we still run the table the rest of the way, baring a complete meltdown.

I'm in a complete wait and see approach right now. It's not that I don't think we are capable of winning out or that we're not a talented team.

It was the lack of fight and the quit in the squad on Saturday. It was the complete and utter dominance against a team that looked like crap for much of their first 6.5 games.

And both teams have to play in the same weather so I don't really take that into consideration. Shea didn't light the world on fire but he got some key 3rd down completions to extend drives. Book had a completion % that made Wimbush look like Dan Marino.

I think people are allowed to still be pissed off. 2014 wasn't that long ago, and we were in the playoff hunt that year too. Ended 8-5. Last week was too reminiscent of that. I'm not predicting that, but I am very interested to see how we come out against a VT team that probably sees a wounded dog and is excited to change the script on their very unimpressive 5-2 start. Sound familiar?

I'm banking on the team rebounding, but there is that possibility that they mail it in. I hope that doesn't happen, and I don't think that's what will happen this time, but yeah...Saturday will tell us a lot of things one way or the other I think.

OSU is good but how in the hell did we lose to this scrub ass Michigan team. They are so unathletic on defense

It’s a shitty excuse but a road weather game is difficult. Home teams have all sorts of advantages when they go into the locker room or have their home sideline resources. But our guys quit which sucks. If the game was a regular road game I’d bet out of 10 games we don’t lose any like that and win 6 of the 10 out right.

An awful, embarrassing loss.

This argument would be tenable if we had lost by 3 or something.

Not really, if you think margin of victory in that game was that important and indicative of future results then not worth discussing this much further.

Loss margins are relevant because championship teams almost never get blown out: only 4 of the 83 AP champions (since 1936) have lost games at any point in the season by more than 14 points. So yeah, being blown out in any game in a season effectively means that you aren't winning a championship that year and so is indicative of future results (or is at least as indicative as just about any other stat).

What’s relevant about being a championship team? Literally nobody said that. And, Michigan clearly isn’t one and nobody was advocating that we were.

Gotta say I am thoroughly enjoying the combined genius of Josh Gattis and Don Brown in this game

I get that as a former coach but it doesn’t excuse getting embarrassed by an opponent that is mediocre at best and has lost to every other decent opponent they have played. I agree that we quit which is the biggest disappointment.

The more I think about it, the more disappointed I am in Kelly that this stain of embarrassment happened.

Especially after Miami. Especially after a BYE where Michigan had to travel back from a tough game.

Especially after the "road warriors" mantra the whole off-season was built on. 1-2 in the road tests, and we even made a terrible Stanford team seem like a threat on the road. In hindsight, what a joke the "road warrior" mantra was.

It reminded me of the BC game where their students were chanting 'wheres your heart' at our players.

The most embarrassing part: we showed were just like meat chicken. They had the embarrassment against Wisconsin early. Didn't even show up for that game. We just all that 2.0. A friend of mine from the years I was at ND would say "that boy is all vines and no taters....". Well, that was ND at Ann Arbor all vines an no taters
