No, I don't blame him for THAT one. He still offered him the free ride. I just brought it up because it was still a push out. I mean, he could have brought him in for a year and se how he recovered. Would he have done the same to Peppers if he had to get an ACL??

Now, unless there is some legal reason that we can't be privy to... this latest move with Swenson is BUSH league. I've not been a Harbaugh hater until this. That dude can go eat a whole bag of frozen d!cks as can anybody who thinks this sort of behavior is acceptable in recruiting. Worst case I've ever heard of off the top of my head. 2+ years committed and you give him 2 weeks to figure his life out. It's not like he had been shopping around like 95% of 4 star recruits do. Sucks all the way around.

Ewww... Frozen? That has to make it worse.

Swenson would have very little time to make an informed opinion about where he wants to go to school, but to make matters worse, Swenson is also slated to play in an upcoming All Star game next week and will have limited time to make any official visits before the February 3rd National Letter of Intent Signing Day.

I guess he can always put the names of the colleges in a hat and pick one out.

Harbaugh didn't even give him the decency to talk to him about it. Stay classy Harbaugh

He'll be ok. Just read Northwestern, Illinois, Iowa, Iowa St, Minnesota, Va Tech were all listed as possibilities. If he's thinking about the NFL then Iowa is a great play there and a good place for a Chicago suburbs kid to go to since they make up a third of the school's enrollment, tOSU, Bama along with ND had offered, don't know if any of them are still on the table. Will be interested to see if Wisco has interest or room this late.

Also, NSD is Feb 3 but you have until April 1st I think to sign so it's not like over on NSD but there will be plenty of schools that are 100% done on that day. If Swenson was open to ND and they had room, it might have been a great fit in another year but spots are tight with 5 stars in play, not to mention 2 higher ranked OT's on board already.

6?

I'm only coming up with Erik Swenson and D'ele Harding off the top of my head. Both committed to Hoke when they were like in the 9th grade.

There's been a lot of talk on message boards that Kiante Enis and Rashad Weaver would be be pushed out, that hasn't happened officially yet.

Here's the list of decommitments I've posted before, Tom.
Erik Swenson (commit 12/25/13)
D'ele Harding (commit 10/31/14)
David Reese (commit 4/4)
Matthew Falcon (commit 4/8)
Kiante Enis (commit 6/4)
Victor Viramontes (commit 6/15)
Messiah deWeaver (commit 6/18)
Sir Patrick Scott (commit 8/2)

Michigan fans don't think these two will stay with the class for good reason - neither have made an Official Visit to Michigan.
Rashad Weaver (commit 6/14)
(Enis moved to above)

Dytarious Johnson (commit 6/6) does not seem to have made an Official Visit to Michigan. Another silent decommit?

Antwaine Richardson (commit 6/12) will not be able to hold onto his spot with commitments from one (or two) higher ranked CBs - Long and Hill.

I doubt Nate Johnson (WR) stays with his commitment. Harbaugh is bringing in two more WR recruits (Stewart, McDoom) for visits in addition to one (Young) that has visited and favors Michigan. Room? Right.

Can you assure me that Chris Evans (RB/slot WR) (commit 6/6) still has a spot? His fallback school is Purdue.

Michael Onwenu (commit 6/2), who had his OV to Ann Arbor last weekend, is now scheduling an OV to Michigan State. Was he told to look around or just being cautious?

Jordan Elliott has now scheduled an OV to Texas. He's also visited Baylor and Nebraska.

If I had a son Michigan was recruiting, I'd wait until December to see if my son had a real offer while making sure he had a number of other Official Visits first. These kids talk about how great Michigan is, how wonderful the coaches are, and how it is a dream to get a Michigan education and commit to being a Michigan man. You don't begrudge them an expression of disappointment when their college plans are dashed, do you?

Here are the attendees at the Big House BBQ in August as well as comments on each. All can see who is still in this class, who is not and who is on the bubble.
Updated Visitors List: BBQ at the Big House 2015

Each of these recruits has a coach recruiting them and making promises with the offer. Don't you think people are not going to trust what those coaches say in the future?

(Updated for Enis decommitment)

I'll take Onwenu and Elliot if they don't want them.

Harbaugh messing around Onwenu is a risky business, you really don't want to upset folks at Cass Tech when you are the Skunkbears coach. The talent they produce every year is just too good to not keep them sweet.

I have to lol at MGoblog for the support Harbaugh gets for doing these kinds of things especially after the all the hate for the Meyers and Sabans for the same douchebaggery. But now its in the name of building a better team.

I saw one of their posters that didn't mind this rant against the posters that thought this was a ish move by JH by saying those posters sounded like ND fans always whining about the moral greatness of the program. Basically he came off as not worrying about the moral-ness and just wanted to do what was necessary to win

in fairness, at the time JH was hired, MGOblog did a story about the recruiting "tactics" he employed at Stanford and the ridiculously high number of decommits he would have every year. The authors knew what they were getting with JH.

From somebody on r/cfb:
Enis texted Brice Marich of scout and made a statement, including saying "Nothing personal, offer wasn't pulled or anything. Michigan was all in with me."
and another:
Steve Wiltfong said Michigan gave him an academic plan at the start of the year and it didn't work out. 247 mentioned for a couple months now that academics were a question mark for Enis WRT Michigan.

The best article yet on the Swenson decommit.

You know you're OL strength is off the charts when a 6-7, 310lb 4 star calls HH and is told, sorry kid, we're full.

From the Detroit Free Press:

Swenson called Ohio State and Notre Dame, and they said they would be interested in his talent but those positions were already filled.

“They said, ‘We’d love to have you. We’d even get rid of another kid to get you, but we’re not like that,’” Swenson said. “We’re happy with our guys, and we don’t fall in the rankings and everything. Which I respect. I would hate for this to happen to another kid who doesn’t deserve it. A couple schools said they’d love to have me, but they’re full.”

Erik Swenson, committed since '13, out of Michigan recruiting class

There is a huge chasm when comparing the integrity of Michigan's basketball coach and that of Michigan's football coach.

Lord knows what Harbaugh would've done if he was Austin Hatch's coach. Probably would've had an assistant coach leave a voicemail on Austin's cell phone while he lay in a coma that his scholarship had been revoked.

Jim Harbaugh contract: Salary, buyout details revealed

Harbaugh will make a minimum of $40.1 million over the seven years; however, after next season, a deferred compensation package will be determined and figures to add millions more to the contract
.
There are raises, other compensations, perks and bonuses.

If Harbaugh is fired without cause (e.g. legal or NCAA trouble), Michigan would owe him his base salary and additional compensation at the time of termination for the remainder of the contract term. But he would be obligated to make "reasonable efforts" to get another job, and his income from that employment would offset any amount Michigan otherwise would owe him.

His assistant coaches, who are responsible for individual recruits, are making $4-5 million per year as a group. NDCrusader's citation showed how notifying a prospect worked with Swenson and what it means when Michigan stops contacting a recruit who has committed.
