Keep making jokes, funny boy. Lord Saban knows all. You won't be laughing when you look out your window one night and see a black Benz parked out front, all your lights go out, and you get a little taste of that "Darth Vader using The Force to choke the crap out of you" thing. You don't think he's still got some Baton Rouge voodoo connections? How'd you like to wake up green with webbed feet and craving flies?

The connections are clear. I will never go back to ATL's MB Stadium. You are scaring me Bish. I've retrieved my generator from the shed, surrounded my house in sea salt, and I'm on my way to Academy Sports to buy an assault rifle. I will be ready for Lord Saban.

PS, I have LSU fans across the street. They'll be lookin' out for me. They've already phoned Orleans and sent for grandma.

Veteran Alabama LB moving on from football (Keith Holcombe, expected but not announced until now. Passing on a fifth year to play baseball. Skipped spring football to play baseball)

Alabama at 82 scholarship players. 2019 class of twenty-eight? Currently, Alabama has twenty verbal commitments.

Jalen Hurts has told Saban he will not transfer. Graduates in Dec.

Saban: Look Jalen, I know it hurts that you won't be the starter, but if you stick around as an insurance policy, I will make sure you get a shot at the NFL. BTW.......Here's the keys to my MB. Care to take it for a spin?

Hurts: Thanks Coach. When do you need it back?

Saban: Did I say I needed it back?

All kidding aside, I don't think his options were good for transferring. He'd have to sit out this upcoming season if he did. If he waits until after he graduates in December, he gets to play this year and then go anywhere as a grad transfer and play there next year.

I think his best chance to go to the NFL is to stay at Bama and change positions. He's a great kid, smart, heck of an athlete, good wheels, tons of character, and a great leader, but he can't throw at the college level, let alone the NFL level. He IS NOT going to play QB in the NFL. He almost certainly could have a nice career there as an H-back, tight end, RB or some hybrid position, though.

I'd love to see him transition to HB, but Bama still put in some packages for him to play QB in some situations... sort of a wildcat or RPO type of thing. I think he could get to the NFL with that.

He's strong as hell, but is his speed really that great? You're the Bama fan so I defer to you, but from what I've seen, he's got great short-range explosiveness and not much after that when he opens it up.

I think he should give LB a try, between his strength, his frame, and his understanding of what offenses are trying to do.

I think you're right about his speed. He's explosive and can make you miss, but he doesn't have elite top end speed. He's probably faster than most tight ends, but certainly doesn't have WR speed.

Saban can now afford to get cheese on his Whopper. Per al.com:

Nick Saban is getting a raise and an additional year added to his contract.

Saban's deal, it was announced Friday, will now run through the 2025 season and his salary will jump from $6.725 million to $7.5 million with a $400,000 increase each year.

The 66-year old will also get a "contract extension/championship signing incentive" of $800,000 this year as well as contract completion payments of $800,000 at the end of the 2019, 2020 and 2021 seasons.

If Saban finishes out the contract, he'll be at Alabama through his 74th birthday.

So whats going on with the Alabama QB battle? Personally, I'd go with Tua. Jalen Hurts crying to the media doesn't sit well with me; he talked as if he was owed something.

I don't think he helped himself with the comments. I try to keep in mind that he's in a tough situation and is still just a kid. Word is Tua is running away with the competition and it's not even close. I feel bad for Jalen. He's a great kid and is everything you could want in a player other than his lack of passing ability.

He needs to either change position, change schools, or be happy to be #2.
He handled the post game press well after the natty, hate to see him go the other way.

I really wish he'd change positions. There's no real chance he's ever going to be drafted as a QB, let alone succeed as one in the NFL. Even if he transfers after this year and is the starter somewhere else, he just doesn't have the arm. I really wish he'd try the TE, H-Back or some hybrid role. He'd make a hell of a TE and very likely be successful in the NFL at that position.

I try to have a team in each conference. In the SEC, that's definitely Tennessee. Rocky Top, you'll always be, home sweet home to meeee...

My thoughts exactly!!

Pull for us against Tennessee and TTT and I will teach you the secret handshake and buy you a Bama jersey.

Go Vols! I'll cheer for you in almost any other game not against ND, IU, PU, or UT.

Do you think your bag man will give him a little extra gravy to stay in case your franchise QB goes down?

Is he athletic enough to play TE? Plus he's only 6'2.

Definitely athletic and strong enough (he's a weight room beast). 6'2" might be problematic though. Maybe an H-Back/Hybrid sort of role or a slot receiver. He'd be tough for a LB to cover and if you could get him the ball in the open, he'd wreak havoc.

Same.

PAC 12: UCLA
B1G: Minnesota
B1G: Iowa State
ACC: UVA
SEC: South Carolina or Tennessee. Tennessee's fight song is lit so they probs win the tiebreaker.

Do you know the secret handshake yet? If not, I can't discuss that with you.

Handshakes? This isn't a boys clubhouse. This is SEC football. if players are paid to simply visit, one can only imagine how much they are paid if they commit.

And I'm sure it's easily worth 50 grand or so to have a reliable backup stay as insurance to win another Natty.

CFBs only all 4 and 5 star practice squad.....

I wish CFB had JV teams/games.

The good thing for Alabama is that the NFL has recently increased the size for their practice squads. Also, Alabama can simply sign an NFL veteran ..like Trent Richardson, to their practice squad.

I could definitely see hybrid/HB. If he has good hands, TE wouldn't be a stretch if he can block and has ups.

PAC12 - ASU a bit because I spent time in E Mesa. Those girls...
BIG10 - IU
BIG12 - KSU as long as Snyder is there
ACC - GA Tech
SEC - UT

I root for the Vols for a couple of reasons. Back in the late 80's and early 90's "Smokey" was from the same bloodlines as my Bluetick. They were basically cousins. Not sure if it's the same bloodlines today, but my dog won pretty much every major show in '91. My wife loves the color orange so when she saw UT's colors and Smoky, they quickly became her second favorite team.
