I understand they don't want to get into a situation where they go to replay to review penalties, but that was kind of a weird outcome. If it had been a capital murder case it would be something like: "on review we have found Clinton-Dix not guilty of murder, so we are overturning the death sentence but he still has to serve 25 years because he was originally charged."

I like the idea behind the rules and the spirit of them, but the enforcement of them is ridiculous sometimes. I'm all for cutting out intentional attempts to injure and using the helmet as a weapon, but flagging normal hard-hitting football and incidental helmet-to-helmet contact with such BS calls is something entirely different.

I'm not sure how you avoid it. They rightly pointed out how fast the game moves. It was a bang bang call and I agreed with it until I saw the replay. I'm glad replay could correct part of it.

It just seems to me that he's pulling for Bama, but my hatred for Bama may be clouding my perception.
