I know we keep talking about it but i just wanted to make a thread on who we really want to play for the NCG.

I still don't even know who i want to play cause they both run well on offense and both have efficient QB but not great QB's. We stop the run extremely well and personally id rather go up against 2 freshman RB's at Georgia in this situation.

And plus Georgia is worse on run defense then bama is and we thrive on getting the run working so golson can get to work and do what he does.

But watching what manziel did to bamas D a couple weeks ago and i know golson isn't the exact same but he is close to manizel in that he can get out of the pocket and run and i think bama has trouble with mobile QB's.

And if you wanna be the best you gotta beat the best which right now is the reigning champions in bama.

Saying all this i still dont know who id rather play but realistically it doesnt matter cause were gonna come out with a really good game plan and play whoever we need to and do what we do and this year its WINNING.

This thread needs a poll.

I just want to play whoever we're most likely to beat. It will be the SEC winner, so bama/Georgia, doesn't matter to me.

Egos aside, who do we have the best chance to beat?

Definitely needs a poll.

Here is my view on things...

If we were playing the team next week, I would want Alabama. Their defense, despite their lofty ranking, is vulnerable sometimes when they can't dominate the LOS... and our defense is a really good matchup against their style of offense. Georgia, if they bring their 'A' game (which is inconsistent), has some crazy good individual players that might make too many big plays.

But given the 5 weeks of prep? I think I want Georgia. Because Nick Saban with that much time = not good. Mark Richt? I think Kelly wins that coaching matchup. And when Georgia brings their 'B' game they are downright average... their OL isn't super awesome like 'Bama so we should get *some* rush... and Murray can implode when that happens. Then we only have to not make mistakes on O... because Jarvis Jones, Bacarri Rambo, & Co. can make game changing plays if you aren't careful. But with 5 weeks of prep? I think we'd be mighty careful.

I want Alabama for the historical reasons, but in terms of winning I would want Georgia. Both are good teams and won't be an easy win, but Saban is a much better coach than Mark Richt in my opinion. UGA is going to need to play lights out just to beat Bama this Saturday. We match up better with Bama's offense, but I think Bama is a better team overall. I'll be watching Saturday night and analyzing everything I can.

I agree with this. I want the best chance of winning it all. UGA gives us that.

Also if UGA beats Bama, nobody will be saying a two loss Bama team is the best in the country..... Well, they actually might still do that.

There should almost be 2 threads on the matter. Who do you want to play, and who does ND have the best chance against. I'm only interested in discussing matchups against ND, not who I'd prefer to beat. Honestly, I coudln't give two shits who we beat. Let's win the ship.

I agree that georgia gives us the best chance to win it all but if we beat georgia you know every is gonna say well you didnt beat the best team so blah blah blah even tho it doesnt matter what people say but still you get my point

Yep, but in 20 years all anyone is going to see is an ND national championship. That's all I care about, we could beat Ball State for all I care. i just want to win it all.

Playing Georgia is a (somewhat) lose/lose scenario, especially if the SEC Championship is a close game.

We beat Georgia, and the entire south says congratulations, you just beat the 3rd or 4th best team in the SEC.

We lose, and it is a foregone conclusion for people that we can't hang with the SEC.

If we beat 'bama, no matter the outcome of the SEC championship, no one can say anything and we run sh**.

Sure, it'd be great to beat Alabama. But I'd rather beat Georgia by 1 than lose to Bama by 1. We're going to be underdogs in this game. I will be rooting for the team this Saturday that we have the best chance to beat, which I THINK is UG.

Unfortuntely some SEC and Bama fans will say we beat them in a down year since they lost to A&M.

We beat Bama and we silence everyone. Bama is recognized as the best of the best and has the widely considered best coach.

Bring on Bama!

FEI:

ND
Overall- 2
Off- 8
Def- 2

Georgia
Overall- 11
Off- 16
Def- 22

'Bama
Overall- 3
Off- 20
Def- 9

Georgia's offense is a little better/ more explosive, but 'Bama's defense is much better. We've got a much better shot against Georgia.

Furthermore, according to S&P+, both UGA and 'Bama have very good offenses. But on defense, 'Bama is completely dominate (1st overall, 1st against rush, 4th against pass), while Georgia is merely good (30th overall, 14th against rush, 59th against pass). In other words, we could definitely score on the Bulldogs; moving the ball against the Tide would be much more difficult.

Bama- Nothing to lose, everything to gain.

-I think we beat UGa 7 out of 10 times played.
To lose to that team would be a disaster and would solidify the south's perception that we wouldn't finish sixth in SEC play.

-I think we beat Bama 3 out of 10 games played.
To lose to Bama, well that's what the world expects so it's no big deal.
But if we play on one of those three days...

That being said, I just want to win!
Couldn't care less who we play, JUST WIN!

I want bama as well, for the same reasons as NDGOLDEN says, they are the consensus 'best team in america'. I will also add, for me it truly does not matter who ND plays, I truly believe they can beat anyone. I'm not guaranteeing anything, but with the defense that ND has, they will be in ANY game they play.

I think Bama gives them the best chance to win; they are thin at WR, they don't throw much anyways, but they are thin at that spot and I like any team that will try to run on the Irish defense.

Georgia has more of a passing threat, which is ND's weak spot. So I think GA could potentially pose some problems for the Irish secondary.

That being said, I think the Irish secondary has played out of their minds all year. Keivarre Russel has had some ups and downs this year, but I have been thoroughly impressed with his play this season, especially considering he never played the position prior to this year.

Alot of ppl saying that Bama is going to steamroll ND, I think those ppl just dont know; they dont know the type of defense ND has, they dont feel it is as good as they look on paper. Thats a stark contrast to my view on the defense, I think they are every bit as good as their rankings, and stats suggest plus they have significant room for improvement.

In response to certain people saying things like, "You didn't beat the best team" if ND plays and beats Georgia. Ummm,so the team who lost to a Big 12 team at home and lost to Georgia in the SEC championship is the "best team"? Sure. There will always be sore loser types and fringe people out there who can and will say anything to bring you down. Just hang onto that crystal football and pull up your feet so the bottom feeders can't grab at your ankles. I don't care what some dude says on his YouTube video filmed out of his Mom's basement.

I want GA, because I don't think they're as good as Bama. I know some say that to be the best, you have to beat the best. I say, screw that! In CFB to be the best you just have to win all the games you play. It's not a cop out, it's just the way it is. Some people think if we beat Bama it will finally shut the haters up...it won't.

That being said, I think we can beat either of them!

People can say whatever they want. Beating either and winning the NC is enough for me. If we get beat, I'd rather get beat by Bama, but really who cares. We'll still start out in the top 5 for next year, and we start all over again. I think we match up better with Bama. Our weakest link (not weak, weakest if you have to isolate one) is our DBs on D, and our passing game on O. UGA has been playing lights out since the loss to SC and hangover win over KY. IMO we'd be able to run better on UGA, but I think that UGA O gives us more problems. In short, I don't care who we play. Just win baby.

Please let it be Alabama! My older brother is a Georgia fan and if we were to lose to them in the Championship, I'd have to hear about it until 2050. If I live that long.

I just want to win, and I think we have a much better chance against Georgia. I dont buy all the talk that Georgia is a lose lose situation, If we win the title game and finish 13-0 with the crystal ball headed back to South Bend, nobody can say ****.

It says on Bear Bryant's tombstone: "One of the greatest coaches in the historyl of college football. But, never beat Notre Dame." I would like to see that tradition continued.
