This kid seriously needs to think about a future in baseball. A top 10 prospect in his class and he wants to be a 5-11 dual threat QB. Felipe Franks can double dip, the odds of him having a future in football past college is slim.

Take the money and skip the aggravation.

The problem now, is he can't. Since he went to school he needs to wait to re enter the mlb draft.

3 years from HS graduation now right.

Yes, if you go to school you can't re enter untill you are 3 year removed from hs graduation.

You are all correct. I should have been more clear. Go the baseball route, get drafted in two years and get paid.

It's a shame he burned a bridge with A&M baseball squad. They may be the preseason #1 squad.

The smart thing to do is transfer to TCU and play baseball only. TCU is loaded and right there with A&M. Plus he'll be an hour from Daddy's watchful eye.

Billy Liucci was just on the local ESPN radio station talking about where Murray could land, and listed ND as one of the options being explored. Can that be right? Not seeing how he fits in with who we already have on the team.

I'll send them Wimbush, Holmes, Hayes, Brent and all his hoe's for Murray, Kirk and Garrett.

No. No no no no no no no. NOOOOOO!!!

I'll take Wimbush over Murray 8 days a week since we know Wimbush will still be interested in and playing football in two years.

I wouldn't trade Wimbush for Murray in a million years. But Murray, Kirk and Garrett for Wimbush and the 3 or 4 non contributors I mentioned? In a split second if it were possible.

Except for what I've read on IE, I hadn't followed much of the drama with A&M over the last couple of years, but as soon as I read "dad" in some of the articles and messages, it was easy to peg what was happening.

anytime as a HC you pander to kid's parents about playing time then you are on a slippery slope

My wife knows the family she works with the mom. I will see what I can find out.

Sucks for TAMU as I attended in the 90's and loved the experience.

Rumors are that the Murrays were now demanding Sumlin make Kevin, Kyler's QB coach and he'd stay. It's pretty amazing how these families are using their QB relatives whether it be son or brother as bait for jobs. Pretty sick if you ask me. You're not a QB coach at a big time school for a reason, why mettle with your bloods future, if you care about them, when you're not qualified.

so true!
and it applies at ANY level.
I used to have such issues when I coached my kids teams (from 2nd grade thru 8th) with all the parents asking "when is my kid gonna play". it really became a problem, came close to quitting coaching several times.
got so bad sometimes I would put their kid in there knowing he/she would not do well. sounds vindictive I know-but how else to show the parents WHY their kid not playing more than others?
I had a "no cut" policy in every sport (mostly football and basketball) so in some ways I created my own problems--but what's worse: a young kid not making the team or not playing?
the reality is some of these kids were happy just to be on the team and practice with their friends, hang out wiith them and be teammates than in the outcome of the games orr their "PT".

Rumor was the dad made that exact same "offer" to Strong when they did the last minute visit to Texas prior to NSD. Strong said no and Murray went on to the Aggies. Other rumors are that daddy got threw out of practice on a few occasions due to bitching about who was on the field at the WR spots during fall practice when Kyler was taking reps. Still more rumors that daddy self invited himself to a few of the coaches meetings this season. He was politely asked to leave as well.

You have to have a level of crazy in your head to do shit like that, just saying. Him and Sumlin would probably be great drinking buddies if he'd just hire him already.

Maybe he is the reason Sumlin has been sipping the gin. LOL

Explains his massive ego. This guy probably had his son watching game tape while he was still in his crib.

I wonder what Kyler's relationship with his father is like and how he views his father's actions. Feels like maybe mostly positively? It's one thing to be a good kid and be respectful of your dad and to listen to him, but it's maybe another thing to be supportive through all these seemingly pretty narcissistic actions his father is taking.

On the flipside, maybe Sumlin sold them a bill of goods during the recruiting process. So maybe the Murrays aren't as bad as it seems on the surface.

Right, does anyone doubt that Sumlin promised his dad he could be "involved" and that Kyler could definitely play two sports? Seems like Sumlin made promises he couldn't keep. When he tried to keep them (playing a clearly inferior Murray over Allen in the middle of the season for stretches) it alienated Kyle Allen which is why he got the hell out of dodge.

And then Sumlin was left with one guy... and told him, per the reports on 247, that he couldn't play baseball. And that his dad couldn't be on the staff. So they packed up and left. Were those demands unreasonable? Or were they simply asking for what was promised to them during recruitment? I'm guessing it's more the latter than the former. And when Sumlin tried to relent on the "no baseball" thing it was too little too late because he had already lost the family.

If a promise was made and it was reneged on then I absolutely support Kyler and his family moving on. As for Sumlin, you get what's coming to you.

Sometimes I think our coaches are a little to low key. But times like this i am very thankful for that.
