I remember THE saddest day of my life. It was completely personal.

This one was a day of RAGE.

We had a really nice (small - 15 minutes) prayer service this morning at our daily morning prayer assembly. We invited several local heroes to it and honored them. We had 2 separate fire companies make it (with their fire trucks which the kids of course loved), a couple policemen, and even a marine fully decked-out. The marine spoke at the end and was moved to the point of tears ("This is awesome - I'd be crying right now if I were allowed to cry!" - my students loved that line from him). I showed my students a 7 video on 9/11 from youtube about it afterwards, and it was very moving.

We do something like this every year at our school, and even though most of the students were babies when this happened (or not even born), it's important that they never forget. God bless the heroes and the families of the victims!

I remember the day very vividly.

History Channel, National Geographic, and Discovery have all been showing documentaries all week, but I just can't watch any of them.

9/11/01 was the saddest day of my life. One day, I may be able to watch those programs. But the memories are still too fresh in my mind.

God bless America and God bless the heroes of 9/11.

Never shall we forget. And yeah I do have a little bit of a mushy side too.

A quick story for you all. A friend of mine worked at Morgan Stanley in the first tower on the 82nd floor I believe. He stepped out to have a cigarette and just as he was lighting up the airplane hit. He trew up immediately because he knew that the impact of the plane was just below Morgan Stanley. He felt helpless. There was nothing he could do. There was nothing anyone could do. At the end of the day that cigarette saved his life. He has since quit smoking.

I cant help but watch those programs too. There's one on tonight, a brand new one called 102 minutes of 9/11, where I think theres a lot of never seen before footage or something. Its on at 9pm. Be sure to check your local listings. I will be watching.

There is a program now called The World Trade Center: Rise and Fall of an American Icon...I am getting really fired up watching it...they just showed the plane getting flown into the Tower...and it gives me the same knoot in my stomach that it did ~9 years ago. Im going to need my kickboxing session today....:|

Obviously, it is a sad day and we should always remember. But, why don't all our kids that have served and died over in Afghanistan and Iraq get the same recognition. It just amazes me about the human mind. We don't ever pay attention and are stuck in our own little world until something finally hits home. I could ask a high school aged kid today if the World Trade Center had ever been attacked before 9/11 and I would get a blank face. I could also ask about the Cole and they would have no idea what I was talking about.

But I am glad people remember this and I feel terrible for their families.

I think I have seen that one. I think. Yeah it felt like a good sock in the gut didnt it? You could always DVR the program and watch it later.

Pearl Harbor... then we blew Japan into submission and two of their cities off of the map...

I still remember the smell from the smoke that day. The sound of sirens and the bewildered looks on the faces of Washintonians. May we never forget what our country stands for in this world. May we never for get OUR BLESSED MOTHER MARY and NOTRE DAME!

Very sad day, I lost a very close friend in the towers. Chris Amaroso saved many people that day, many of you probably have seen his picture in the NY Post carrying a woman to safety. He ran back in right after that photo was taken and the South Tower came down. He is deeply missed.

The people who were killed that day came from all backgrounds and represented the diversity and greatness of America. From the janitors to the CEOS and the heroic firemen who ran into towers that were on their way down, all Americans lost something that day. I am glad to see that after 9 long years, there is finally some significant progress on rebuilding the site and creating a fitting memorial for those who died. The only proper way to honor those who were lost is to keep moving forward and reaffirm the values that make America the greatest country in the world.

Remember it like it was yesterday... was in third grade and we had to call a kid in my class mom to see if he could do gym, his mom said turn on the TV as soon as we did the second plane hit.

I had just come home from college and was enjoying sleeping in as college students tend to do when my mom woke me up and told me a plane hit the towers... I turned on the TV and was about to go back to bed when the second plane hit...

Still the live telecast is running in my mind.......... it was just like penetrating the mind with some driller..Whenever I write the date 9/11 ,it just hangs my mind.

I was a senior in HS and was taking a pop quiz in my math class when ithe first one hit. Our teacher turned on the TV in time for us to watch the 2nd plane hit live. I can still remember what I was wearing, where I was sitting and who was seated beside me.

Wow. Eleven years. That's crazy. I too remember. Sixth grade at St. Jerome in Walbridge, OH. The history teacher's sister was on the DC beltway and called the principle. All of the adults freaked, the students were mostly confused. I remember being happy that it at least wasn't an invasion from the Russians. lol Probably played a but too much Red Alert back in the day...

My first job out of college was in Midtown by the ESB. Had meetings in the WTC. My last trip to NY to site-see/visit was '99. Bought broadway tickets on the ground floor in one of the towers...will always remember vividly, the NY skyline from my apartment in Jersey. Will always remember those who perished, and their families...I suspect those who were alive for JFK can attest that every year this day will come...and your gut wrenches all over.

Lived about an hour from the city. Know a few people indirectly that were murdered. I will always remember. RIP
